In Which I Find a Reason to Start a New Notebook

I think it came from Paperchase. I know it was a Mothers Day present last year...

knitting socks: a diary

Now it's a Sock Knitting Diary: little bit influenced by all the stunning Planners I'm seeing everywhere, little bit diary, little bit scrapbook...

knitting socks: a diary

..I have stamped on washi tape (and recorded all of our measurements - because we all need new socks, even if some of us are still in denial). I have used punches to vary the size of the pages (just for fun)...

knitting socks: a diary

...I have stapled (because it's nice to keep samples of the yarn and the details from the yarn bands) and stamped ( because it's a great excuse to use all the little Gossamer Blue stamps which haven't yet made it onto layouts) and printed out the photos of my first two pairs...

Knitting socks: a diary

...And I've made notes about where I'm going next. There are so many combinations of stitches and shades: will one notebook be enough?

I like the idea of your sock notebook and it's looking good so far. I'm trying to come up with a reason to do one of these journals/diaries/scrapbooking type notebooks myself but I can't think of anything suitable. I may do a photography field journal but not entirely convinced that I'll keep it up. Watch this space!

It looks so inviting. It's funny, because I have just started a new note book. Firstly, to inventory my ridiculous stash of fabric and secondly to record notes on sewing projects. Mine has grid pages too. My favourite kind :)

Couldn't click through fast enough (what a tantalising title!!!!).......Great idea! Can't believe you've finished two pairs already!

What a wonderful idea, Sian! And what a great point of reference in years to come, plus a memory-book too. I can see this one being passed down the generations. I'd have loved to have known the genesis and development of my Mum's embroidery ... I hooted at the thought of sock denial!

I'll wait until it comes out in paper back - the sock diaries by Sian

So cute :-) I have jumped on the planner bandwagon with both feet and a big smile on my face, I haven't scrapped since, but my goodness my house is cleaner and more organised and I have got loads done. Lots of scrapping fodder when I get back to it. Yes, I have a section in my planner devoted to an awesome plan for getting my scrapping and blogging done...that is the only bit I haven't achieved yet!

Think I should do one of these for my garden. I can never remember what I have planted when and where.

Now, when I go to Paperchase I just buy one notebook, then I can go again to buy another one!

Love this idea, you make me want to start a few notebooks (but not start knitting socks)!

I love this Sian. Not just for the idea but also the look of it.

Have you seen something called, "listers gotta list" ... It really speaks to my creative side and I think you'll like it too. It's on Facebook, Pinterest, IG and even you tube ... It has you all over it xxx

What a great idea Sian - the layout and design is very appealing. I love journals for different things too. A sock one is not in my collection but I can quite see why it is in yours and I love how you keep the labels, wool samples and photos of finished projects. As always it has your unique style and I love it!!

That's a great way to record your sock adventures! I think I would use the same idea for working on my garden. (Although that's probably not going to happen until retirement!!!)

this is very cool. Need to start one too for my knitting and design idea but I somehow don't own a single graph paper notebook. very weird considering I have like 30 empty notebooks spread everywhere!

What a fabulous idea! I'd love to knit but know that I don't have the patience for it! I did make a pair of fingerless gloves once - many moons ago but thats as far as I've ever got. But your pretty planner makes me want to jump up and learn how to knit socks!

The best way to use a new note book. Love the idea and who knows...where your sock book will go !

I love it! It is just so you. Makes me want to get a journal for my knitting. :)
