Scrapbooking A Prompted page (With Star Wars)

Oh, wait. There's the doorbell. With any luck it'll be the postman with another couple of parcels..

Yep. Now I just have to find somewhere to hide them. My shopping is on track this year. Better than last December, which turned a little more last minute.

Sian Fair for Get It Scrapped

And last minute means, sometimes, let's be honest, not always thinking-it-through. Take my gifts for Uncle Dave, for example. Uncle Dave, my brother who lives in the States, flies in for Christmas when he can. He travels light, not a lot of room for presents. He has an excellent reputation as a gift buyer himself; and if he isn't around, he always contrives to have his parcels delivered on exactly the right day (including one magical Christmas Day itself. When there are no deliveries).

Anyway, back to my point. What I really mean is, he doesn't have much room for bringing gifts back, for packing whatever we give him to carry home again. This year I'm buying light, collapsible, fold up - no, can't say any more..

Star Wars flair from A Flair For Buttons
...because last year I spotted a book I thought he'd like. And I'm still looking at it. When it arrived I knew at once it would be too heavy, and I was right. he had to leave it behind.

But here's the thing. It's origami. It's paper folding. I like paper. I like playing with it. You know that. I'm not such a Star Wars fan, but I think I could get over that. Paper Yoda? I'm tempted to try.

I have Get It Scrapped to thank for my getting this story down on paper. When I was asked to follow the recipe for a prompted page I was looking forward to the challenge. I don't usually scrapbook to a plan. But this plan asked for three pieces of flair, amongst other things, and I had exactly the right pins sitting on my desk. Star Wars flair from A Flair For Buttons, which I put together with two square photos, some striped patterned paper and a one word title to make my prompted page. Thanks Get It Scrapped. May the force be with you.

I'm looking at that book and thinking that a folded Yoda might be the perfect accent for the page...

Slip out a few pages from the middle, Uncle Dave will never notice! Cool Star Wars badges.

Oooh, yees! The flair. Sigh. I'm in love....& I always ADORE how peeps manage to use film strips & reels...I have such trouble...they look magnificent here! GREAT story, too...I have a related one...wanna hear? I should do a post...anyways, I've never read Ralph Waldo Emerson...in NZ went to a church fete & there was a wee 'vintage' [aka, cover hanging by a thread] book of his essays, a LITTLE book...for 20c. But I ummmed & aaahhed...only hand luggage & I'd already bought a BIG mug, some craft paints, hand cream....so I left it there. MISTAKE. Big. mistake. Dammit! I should have tossed some old knickers in order to fit it in.....oh well......

oh Sian. This layout is now my new favourite. The papers are gorgeous - are they from a kit? Loving the story behind it too x

Star Wars Origami would be a big hit at our place! And Star Wars flairs were perfect to tell this story!

I'm looking at that book thinking ot would be a perfect gift for a couple of people I know too! Thanks for the idea Sian - pity poor Uncle Dave has to wait till he comes see you again before he can play! Oh! You should have a Star Wars paper folding party when he comes back!

You not only tell such brilliant little stories but you always have the knack (score that out, I mean talent) for adding such visually intriguing bits and pieces to your page. Uncle Dave's loss is clearly the scrapbooking world's gain :).

Wow that page is so good, and I'm sure Uncle Dave would love the origami Yoda. It will remind him of pleasures to come when he finally takes possession of the book.

You once again amaze me with your ability to draw such disparate things together in order to make a really interesting story. I believe the force IS with you!
