Christmas Club (The Revival)

Four years ago, almost to this very Sunday, I sat down to create a post. I had forming in my head the very beginnings of an idea for a game of storytelling. So I wrote about the Christmas Club I ran when I was about eight and about how I made my family gather every Sunday afternoon to talk Christmas, sing Christmas, make Christmas..and eat mince pies. You can read all about it here. Some of you who were around at the time might remember that we decided to Christmas Club right here, on my blog and yours, every Sunday until Christmas. And then, of course, those stories we told, we didn't want to let go, and Storytelling Sunday was born.

Well, we've been almost a year without Storytelling Sunday now, and I'm thinking: how about we bring back Christmas Club? I'm not making a big Christmas album this year; but I'd certainly like to record a little of the season somehow and this might just do it.

I looked back at the stories I'd told for Christmas 2010 - My Inner Elf, One I Made Earlier, and the family guests who wrote about Christmas in Taiwan and meeting Santa - and if I put those together with all the December Storytelling Sundays I can see most of our family's stand out Christmas memories. But that leaves the little things. I think if I just start to write, some Christmas will come.

How about beginning simply, with:

"At Christmas we..."

If you can't think of a story, if you haven't scrapbooked all year, or blogged in months, how about giving it a go?

"At Christmas we..."

maybe you'll get two sentences, amybe you'll end up with a story you had completely forgotten, a week long blog series, a scrapbook page or four.

"At Christmas we..."

Or a list. What about a list? Or more than one? Take a week to write down some of your family Christmas food facts, a week for presents, a week for traditions

"At Christmas we..."

We have three more Sundays to meet. Christmas Club. How about it?

This sounds like fun, Sian. I missed it first time around. I didn't start my own blog until 2011 and didn't really read blogs much before that.

PS Did you know you have WV now?

Are you psychic? I sat down this morning and thought " Did enjoy the Christmas Story Sundays, perhaps I'll write one later."
Now it's later and I came back to write a story and here you are with an idea.

I'm in.

Ahhh! The Christmas Club!!! The meme that gave me a push to start sharing stories on my blog. :o) I would love to participate but might not make it this first week. I will definitely jump in at some point this month though. Thanks for bringing back an old favorite!
