Me On Monday

So here we are at Monday again. Are you ready for it?

Here it was a weekend of preparedness: a finishing things off and getting things ready kind of a weekend. An admiring the quilt blocks and thinking about how to put them together weekend, a finishing off the crochet blanket and planning another one weekend. And  a rehearsal for the school Autumn Concert weekend and a going to the drop in flu vaccination clinic weekend. Preparedness, see?

September was my month for receiving quilt blocks from the members of Fiona's Friendship Quilt group. I have five now, each and every one a pleasure to open and lay out and look at and enjoy. Look, there's Abi's lovely printed linen (with her hand drawn card) and Jacky's clever, clever piecing and Deb Turtle's oh-so-pretty house (and you can see more photos on her blog here) and Beverly's beautifully neat points. Our other Deb sent the one I showed here a couple of weeks back . Now to plan how I'll put them together.

And my other bit of preparedness? Here I am, that's Me On Monday, sorting wool for a new crochet blanket. I posed it up today, for everyone who saw my photo of the Christmas hamper catalogue and said hamper was a funny word. That would be everyone across the Pond! There you go, that's a hamper. It's pretty nice with wool in it, but it was even better when it was full of Christmas treats. ..

Sorting my Stylecraft to make a Granny square blanket to go with these cushions

My plan is to have a few Granny Squares finished by the end of this week. How about you? Any plans for the week? Last Monday Becky, Helena, Theresa, Sandra, Deb, Ruth, Abi, Fiona, Denise, Kirsty, Doris, Ladkyis and Susanne all went Me On Monday. If you fancy giving it a go too, give me a wave. And have a great week.

There's nothing much nicer at christmas than a hamper!
Your squares are looking gorgeous...I'm having a real dilemma about what to make with mine.

And don't they all look lovely. So looking forward to seeing what everyone does with their little collections of squares. I'll blog some ideas for assembly, once I have all mine.

Wish I had more patience to sew!
I intend to have a much more relaxed week than last - hope you get your squares completed :)

Love the colors you selected from your yarn "hamper." I'm happy to add that word to my vocab!! Can't wait to see your finished granny squares this week. I've been toying with the idea of making a granny square Christmas tree skirt for my girls as my mom made for me in the 1980's. I think I've waited too long for this year. Maybe next....

Oh it's so fun to see the other quilt squares you're collecting. Your finished quilt top is going to be so pretty with all those lovely creams and linens! Thanks for the link to my blog post on your house block. Ah - I loved making that for you!!! xo

I love a Christmas hamper! We used to get one every year about 20 years ago when Hugh worked for another company and it was so exciting to open it and see what was in it. The hampers now store the children's saved school work, artwork and other bits and pieces which when they have houses of their own they can take away! Loving your squares and have fun with the crocheting! I'm joining in with you again this week!

When I see all the squares, I so regret saying no. But I know I'd be behind, so maybe it was for the best.

Btw - still on the language thing--- I was thinking we don't have drink hampers... We have eskies... Do you have them? Or is it ice boxes/chests???

Funny, I knew exactly what a hamper was---maybe it's because I grew up with an elderly great-aunt who had one. Vocabulary is such an interesting subject. When I moved from Ohio to New York in high school all kinds of words had subtle differences in meaning. I was the source of some amusement for awhile.

Sounds like a very craft focused weekend to me, just the kind i like! That hamper looks pretty good too :)

I'm just thinking of starting my next granny square blanket too, although mine are mostly very "un" colour coordinated as I use leftovers, or odd balls I buy because I like the colour. No new posts from me for a bit as my parents are visiting. Have a lovely week.

My plans for this week - getting my head around fractions and long division and multiplication... my desk is going to be full of craters at this rate where I keep face planting it!

The quilt squares are beautiful, and hampers make me think of cheese and crackers. mmmmmm.

I love all the quilt squares when they appear on people's blogs. I had a surprise flu jab on Saturday - went to book one for later in the week and the next thing I knew I was actually having one! It threw me a bit as I like to prepare for things of that nature.

What a fantastic collection of quilt blocks you've received! We took a road trip over the weekend (but didn't make it to Laura Ingalls Wilder's home because it stormed terribly the morning we were in Missouri!). Hope you are having a lovely week.

The quilt blocks you received look lovely. Such a terrific idea! The yarn for your next blanket looks beautiful. Something so exciting about new balls of wool just waiting to be used. The colours will look so great with the vintage pillow pattern. Is this going to be a gift for Little E? We use the term "hamper" in my house. My maternal grandparents came from Ireland. I guess that's why. :) I guess it is flu shot time again. Thanks for the reminder.

You have a good eye for colour - those yarns are a great match, Sian. Your neutrals are going to be lovely together...

Sounds like a busy weekend. I would love a hamper like that to store my wool in.

The squares all look super and over here in this part of Canada at least we do know what a hamper is. Or maybe its just everyone I know is of British heritage and know it because of that. :)
