The target was Target: a Page For Jot 7

The target was Target. No doubt about it. She'd paged through her brochure collection, she'd begged me to buy a guidebook, she'd made a note of everything - everything - which needed her attention just as soon as she'd arrived. BUT, once the tickets were booked, it was obvious she had one seriously big goal in mind. And that was Target, that discount wonderland, that distant dream.

Sian Fair for Jot Magazine

It was right there on the very first page of The (Not So) Small One's Big Book Of Florida: noted under Shops I Want To Visit (also Walmart, Barnes and Noble and anywhere with an extensive confectionery aisle), cross referenced with Things I Might Buy - oh so many things, just little ones, but nothing costs very much and if you save hard and arm yourself with some luggage scales from the Pound Shop you can do some hard hitting bargain hunting damage, right?

But maybe I should let her tell her own story:

Orlando, Florida. It just screams magic. I mean, you've got walt Disney World, Harry Potter, the list of theme parks and attractions all claiming the title of "most magical place" goes on...To me, howver, it is Super target which is pure magic. This glorious haven of notebooks and candy is all I need> From water bottles to clothes, groceries to bicycles, it has it all with the added American novelty and a Starbucks on your way to the exit. In my opinion nothing can beat it..

That's the story she told when I asked for one. for a page. I had been pulling together some ideas for Jot 7 (OUT NOW): a scrapbooking bucket list, things, scrapbooking wise, to try at least once in your scrapbooking life. You can find them in Jot 7 (OUT NOW). I chose one and practised what I preached by using someone's else's journaling. And I discovered how freeing it can be! For once I wasn't thinking about the words. I just enjoyed sticking things down, knowing that The (Not So) Small One was in charge of the recording. I'd do it again tomorrow! in fact, I think I probably will because she has quite a lot to say on the subject of Twizzlers. Seriously, I can highly recommend giving it a go. That Dangerous Notebook I talk about? the one the family agree can be a little bit worrying? I'm passing it round..

You'll find Jot 7 right here

I LOVE Target! In fact, it was my first teen job all the way back in 1967!! Your layout is just perfect and so is TSO's journaling!

Love the layout and her journaling. Spotted the Dum Dum wrapper, very clever (yuck on Root Beer, Cream Soda rules lol) Twizzlers? Does she like or not? Have never been on my list of yummy treats.

Target is a pretty good store - bright, clean, nice big aisles. But I absolutely DETEST WalMart and only go there when I absolutely have to... like today...

Don't you just love that about scrapbooking? Every single experience, big or small, can be turned into a marvellous page of loveliness!

I love that your girl wanted to go to Target so bad. Seems funny to me, but I suppose I take them for granted. I am NOT a fan of Walmart so I'm really glad your page was about Target instead. :o)

Your layout is great, and I LOVE those buttons covered with the Dumdum wrappers. So clever!

I love the layout, and I'm a huge fan of Target. I was so excited when we finally got one. Now it seems like they've been here forever.

earlier in the year I overheard someone saying they couldn't wait to get stationed back Stateside - for Target!! I liked it, but can't say I really miss it. On my first visit to my not yet in-laws back in 1991 the place I really wanted to go was the fabric store. I ended up hanging out in Michael's craft store and the fabric store way too much! Before the days of internet shopping, and the slow rise of craft stores in the UK!! Fun story to tell, and definitely use that system again - a different "voice" in your scrapbooks is a good thing.

I love her approach to your summer adventure - the planning, the cross referencing, the luggage scales, the embracing of bargain stores alongside theme parks

Sounds like a dream shop! And MATERIAL used like that on a page.....ADORE your style! Course, bright pops of colour get me in EVERY time...like the blue sky in this one! And I'd never thought of using someone else's words. Interesting! And YES, you simply MUST do PL, in some form or another..it's the most fabulous thing to use up all those bits & bobs:):):)

What a nice page--I love the time zone paper you used (you wouldn't believe how familiar I'm becoming with time zones lately). And I thoroughly enjoyed reading TSO's account of her visit there. It is a nice store with lots to offer. My fave: they have a wonderful collection of notebooks--a size, color, and style for everyone.

I don't know which I love more, the story or the page! Oh and I didn't realize Target was so coveted! Now I feel like I need to go!

Such a great page! I remember my 'must visit' list when we were in London (1994) included a bunch of bookstores, along with the Tower. :) Target's only real downside for me is it's really dinky craft section - no yarn, fabric or sewing notions like Wal Mart.

One never knows what my strikes one's fancy - but once it does you can easily figure out why. Great page and great way to get another story on the page.

I have heard so much about Target down the years, that it clearly merits being destination in its own right. And how nice to hear TSO's 'voice' :).
