I Know I Shouldn't...

Funny, I can get on with the big stuff...it's the little things I'm having trouble with today...

I know I shouldn't, but I'd like to:

Finish up the rest of my Easter sweets and forget about making the dentist's appointment I cancelled when I was sick (yes, that would be months ago now..)

Ooh, new Batman toothbrush..

...aah, Batman Easter egg...

No, I haven't opened it yet. The surprise is still a surprise and I'm saving it up.

I also know I shouldn't (but I'd like to)

Order more wool - a completely different as yet undecided colour combination, for a new yet to be determined blanket pattern. I need to finish the old one first.

Order pizza for tea and leave the defrosting casserole steak for tomorrow.

Borrow The (Not So) Small One's new socks to wear to Pilates. There's nothing like getting there, taking off your shoes and discovering a big hole

Leave the bedroom looking like a mess, leave the tidying for another day, and go and make a page about the aforementioned Pilates.

Make that birthday cake today when I have time instead of rushing it tomorrow. But if I do that, there'll be freshness issues

Forget that I need to make more room by deleting all the old stuff on my laptop and go ahead adding yesterday's photos instead.

Look on Amazon for a new book I'd like: The Girl Who saved The King Of Sweden by Jonas Jonasson who wrote my favourite from last year The Hundred-Year-Old man Who Climbed Out Of The Window And Disappeared. Well, would you look at that; it's on special offer...

Oh, yes, it's one of those days. But it's not just me. Is it?

Not just you, no. I have a million things I should be doing but not a single one will be done!
I DO have to go out and secure food for us for the next few days due to the shops being closed tomorrow - but everything else will wait. Today is not the day :-)

Oh yes - I'm with you as well.

I'm with you there although I was a good girl and went to the dentist this morning! x

I should spend the rest of the day continuing to sort out my room and oh all that 'stuff'. But ... I've got some blog posts I wanted to write ...

Also I should use the Pilates machine that's now just a huge - static - ornament in my dining room ... but erm ... I'm lazy. Although you might just have reawaken my interest in it ...

I'd be with you, but today I've had to bite the bullet and get things done, before the stress of thinking about them kills me. Although the stress of actually doing them nearly caused me to throw 2 computers and a printer out of the window, possibly killing someone else!! But why did you have to mention Amazon....

LOL! I so know what you mean! My Pilates was cancelled this morning so I've left other things I meant to do and started my next dressmaking project:)

So easy to fill the time and space with unnecessary "stuff", isn't it? The Boy Child has a toothbrush with Spiderman on it ...

No, not just you. I suffer the same affliction. I'm thinking of the next pattern I want to make (well the next 3, if I'm truthful!)and dreaming of the fabric that I'll use. Must...not...order...more, until the current dress is finished.

It's not just you.. I have a to do list as long as my arm!
& I it makes me stress the longer it gets! Better get to it xxx

I know the feeling - loads to do and sticking my head in the sand to avoid them!

Cheri said...

Totally not just you - I have days like this frequently - nearly every day - in fact I'm in avoidance mode now - as evidenced by the fact that I'm reading blogs instead of tackling my to do list!

Indeed it isn't :). I could tell you about the MOT appointment I need to book, the fridge which wants a good clear out and the paperwork which should be tackled today - if only you hadn't reminded me about the unfinished packet of mini Easter eggs in the kitchen drawer ...

It's certainly been me lately. The desire is there but the motivation is lacking.

Oh it's definately not just you....I have far too many days like this....and today I've bought more fabric when I already have more than enough...just because I had the chance to visit a wonderful fabric shop.

I really need to write my final question (due tomorrow) and I should start grading the papers from my seminar. But maybe I'll toss in a load of laundry instead and perhaps just take a few minutes to see what my blog friends are up to . . .
Rinda
ps maybe you could do another "blog cos you want to" post instead . ..

Definitely not just you :) And can I just say - you have the willpower of a Saint to resist that egg for so long :P

I should have been washing the filter from the stupid vacuum cleaner. I should have been mopping the floor in the downstairs loo, instead I was supervising a nine year old as she made pastry and together we produced individual custard tarts and jam tarts made with greengage jam (home made) I also spent time drooling over stuff in the Lakeland catalogue and thinking about choosing the pictures to send off to snapfish for the next few pages of my 2014 album

I am so good at frittering time away...all the big stuff (usually to do with life outwith the house!) gets done, but I can walk past things that need putting away for days!

Well now, today I was adamant that the kitchen floor was too revolting to leave any longer and cussing about how it had got like it. I felt so much better when it was done. However, the pile of ironing that I have walked past, the layer(s) of dust, the two simple phone calls, now they were 'beyond the pale' types of jobs today :-)

Totally with you Sian! I'm shutting my eyes to so many things right now, there is a long weekend ahead and I saving some of it for then (including some play and fun time to help me through the more mundane things-to-be-done!)
I'm intrigued by the book titles, might just have to pop over to Amazon myself!

No, definitely not just you. My every non work day is like that - and some of those when I'm working at home when I'm not allowed to give in.

Mary B said...

No definitely not just you. I have had a lazy day, scrapping and trying to finish a jigsaw that is taking me for ages to complete still have a large part of it to do

Amy said...

Of course not ... however, this week has seen me walking in circles not knowing quite where to start ... I would say that the household would appreciate the groceries being done tomorrow!

My vote is to spend the day with your laptop and get yourself all organized. Buy that book and order/print that picture for your layout. Pick out some new wool, but just leave it in your cart---you don't HAVE to buy it now. I do that to try to control my impulsivity (if that's a word).

I like your list! And the Batman toothbrush too. He looks epic.

No definitely not just you - hence why I stopped work early to sit down and catch up on blog posts. Commenting to Wookie that I was meant to be on holiday after all... Not read the 100 year old man book yet but thought of you when I saw the new book was out. Hope it is good!

It must be the week! I'm finding all sorts of excuses for not doing things.

Karen said...

No definitely not just you! My list is forever long, and I've spent my day playing with all kinds of crafty materials. I did finally do some ironing tonight while I watched the PBS News Hour.

Lou said...

Nope..you are definitely not on your own. I will be spending the next week or so sorting out my laptop x

A lovely post that made me smile as well as making me think about all the lovely things I'd like to be doing instead of the things I have to do :)

Nathalie said...

Oh, if only they had Kinder eggs over here.... :( Off to check the books you mentioned, I am intrigued!
Thanks for the fun read ;)

Nathalie said...

Yeah! I just put your favorite book from last year on hold at my library :)

LOL - it's always the little things that distract us!

In the end I suspect your day was a mix of "must do" and "want to," and hopefully a little of each satisfied your dilemma.
