Jot 5 is Here (with a Challenge)

....with thanks, first of all, to everyone who stopped by and left a message on Thursday's post. it's been much appreciated.

Now, for the weekend, maybe, you are looking for a chance to put your feet up and relax for half an hour? I have just the thing. The new Jot magazine has just been released and it's all ready and waiting to be enjoyed right here: Jot 5

For this issue Kim asked me to expand on an idea I had earlier in the year: scrapbooking as a tourist in your own town. So I've come up with some new ideas and prompts which I hope will work for you even if you aren't making too many traditional layouts right now. There is always an extra corner of a Project Life page waiting to be filled..

I'm still a 12x12 girl, so I made this new page based on one of the prompts

Sian Fair for Jot Magazine

that would be..using a photo taken, not by you, but by someone visiting your town as a tourist.

When my lovely blogging friend Ruth came to visit she took lots of superb photos which gave me a whole different perspective on the things I see every day. Armed with her very kind gift of a CD of her pictures (thank you!), I have a stack of new stories to tell because seeing what she saw has been so illuminating and inspiring. It's definitely worth asking anyone who comes to call to let you have a look at what they wanted to capture.

And if you get a chance, then you could think about joining in my challenge over at Jot. You can find out more about that here at the Jot Challenge page. Check out the other challenges too! But better still - sit back and enjoy the whole magazine first.

The joy of looking at your layouts are always the little extras you add to it. My eye seems to find something new each time :) it's such a great idea to scrap from someone else's view

Do you know, I was thinking about this on the drive home via Salisbury today. I passed Wilton House and the Fovant badges, as well as places that are very personal to me from childhood, and the church where I got married. Quite a trip down memory lane! Great page.

A very lovely page, Sian - that green just sets it off perfectly. And such an interesting challenge :). I will give this some thought and pop over to Jot too.

Such a great challenge! Not sure if I've ever known anyone who came to visit and took photographs. As always I love the little details you add to every layout. The wooden geotag, the little enamel dots, the flag--it all adds up to such a cohesive whole.

Hi Sian! Sorry it's been a while since I've dropped by, but I'm just catching up on some of your blog posts. SO happy there is a new Jot magazine and looking forward to reading it tomorrow with a cuppa.
This is a really great challenge, an interesting perspective on the things we see everyday. Also, I adore your layout. You have such a distinctive style :) The wood veneers, lacy layers and pretty letter stickers are just gorgeous. X

Since I'm enjoying a leisure weekend of doing anything I want, I'm going to peruse the magazine with my tea and take as long as I want!

Hi Sian, a gorgeous page today and I will have a look at Jot this morning. It's a great idea to get someone else's perspective on anything including what photos they take.

I was sorry to hear about your bereavement, my condolences, it turns everything topsy-turvy for a while.

I also am sorry I haven't been around, I have had a rotten busy time at work again and haven't done very much online at all. I am hoping to get the blog going again as I miss it.

Take care x

I've not had a chance to look at Jot yet but will save it for a quieter time. As always I love your page, and how good that you have Ruth's photos. It is always interesting that two people can take the same photo and end up with different images and perspective. It makes your focus of a visitor to your town more interesting & fun I'm guessing.

Hi Sian - sorry about your aunt. Sometimes people who are only honorary relatives mean more to us than blood ones.

Thanks for the reminder about Jot 5 and I will be looking forward to a little read once I get home from work.

That's a great looking layout Sian. Hmmm, a tourist in my town. It's a very small town so I don't know if that would work but going in to Toronto it would. I remember when as a teenager we had some teenagers from Arlington staying with us and the stuff I saw then as we went around with them amazed me. :)
