"Funny you should ask, because I had just been thinking today that sometimes a catch up, round up, whatever you'd like to call it, would be a good idea. if I can, I'll most often email a reply to a question. Occasionally I'll leave a comment in my comments under the post, but I'm not so keen on that. I'm not sure anyone ever has the time to come back and check.
Remember the book post a couple of weeks back? I did get questions about those remainders lists."
"Ha! You see, not everyone lives with an old librarian," she said. "We don't all think about where to buy more books all the time."
"Now, steady on," I said. "Less of the old for a start. These were Granny's books we were talking about here. The ones she buys for presents. I hadn't put the links in Five Books By My Bedside because - and I know this sounds funny - I had in my head the picture of Granny thumbing through those paper catalogues she gets in the post. She phones up to order. Quick! Send more books! I think she probably says. But of course you can order the other way "

"Yeah," said The (Not So) Small One, "that moustache knitting book was great. I'm thinking of wearing mine in Chemistry next week. I might dare my friend Sian to wear one too."
"Aha," I said. "Your friend Sian. Now a story about Sian..that would come under the category of new blog stuff. Not catch up. So maybe my other catch up thing today would be my page about the Guinness crisps."
"Ugh. Gag. Not the Guinness crisps, Mum."
Oh, yes. The Guinness crisps. I like them, even if nobody else does. And now I've recorded that. Because that's what I do.

As a lapsed scrapper I'm always glad when your posts make me feel like scrapping. As someone without children to scrap/document I'd begun to get jaded about scrapping just for me. It *always* used to be my main focus .... then I just got tired of it. But your random/you/everyday pages like this make me feel like it might just be worth giving it another go. xx
In total agreement with Julie (though I have got the kids) Craig keeps pestering me to start scrapping again and when I see your pages it makes me want to.
Guinness crisps though? Uurgh! Though I am partial to Marmite crisps or Marmite chocolate ;)
First off---I LOVE the title of this post. "January's Last Gasp"---that's a great page idea right there! I love layouts that pertain to how we live now. I can just see someone looking at this layout 50 years from now saying: "Are you kidding me? They made crisps from Guinness? And people actually ate them?" Good one, Sian!

Thanks for the book links Sian. I use The Book People a lot but had not heard of the others. Great page as always. Barbara is no doubt right about what they will be saying in 50 years time!

Love your page. The top border is great and I love the polka dot die cut hello. I am inspired to start documenting more of the everyday random. They will be the pages that we will love looking back on in years to come. It has been almost 2 months since I scrapped. Time to get back into it.
Hate the idea od Guiness crisps. Not sure about the wisdom of knitted moustaches. But love your page and your post. Made me smile on (another) rainy day
We have The Book People deliver books to the staff room at school, never seen the knitting moustache one though! They also do stuffed toys that sing! Hours of fun?

Didn't know about the Bibliophile, so thank-you! My dad spends many happy hours perusing the other two and relaying the titles and content of some of them to me. Such a wonderful variety! I do,love your page though I looked in vain for Guinness crisps thus morning :(.

What a great page and I can imagine looking at it in only a couple of years, when Guinness crisps go the same way as the Hedgehog ones. do you remember those?
Like others here, I got a chuckle and a smile reading this post. Your layout is a perfect example of scrapping the everyday. I think one of the reasons it's hard to do, is that we don't slow down enough to pay attention to those little details. Well, you do, of course!
The early part of January seemed to drag by, but it certainly got busier and more hectic toward the end of the month. It's hard to believe we are already a twelfth into this new year.

I have not found a good way to answer to comments on my blog either... The inability to start a conversation is one of the downfalls of blogger i think. Guinness crisps really don't sound good to me but they make a fun subject for a page!!!

Guinness crisps... hhmm.. I love crisps but I don't like guinness but I think I would probably like those! I'm intrigued now!
I've not blog read for a while, so having a little catch up .... And nothing makes me happier than catching up with your life. It's always interesting to see what others say - and I have to agree with Julia. Not having children leaves you sometimes with not much to scrap .... But then I channel you and hey, I've got a million ideas xxx
