Our Summer Story

I have a piece of pie for you today. A pie chart page. Last year, at the beginning of the summer, I made a layout about our plans for the break; this year I decided to do the same thing. I thought the ready printed pie chart patterned paper (by Kesi' Art from a Quirky Kit) would be perfect:

Once I was finished, though, I decided that I wanted to do a bit more writing. Expand on how we divide up our time. And so, instead of crowding what's already there, I have a plan for the pie. I'm going to carefully slit the edges of some of the "slices" so I can slip journaling tags underneath.

Some of the things you might spot on our to do list:

- our Scandinavian trip. Maybe we'll tell a few stories with The Little Mermaid.
- a lot more driving lessons.
- the final stage in the teeth straightening process. She's been a star!
- a baking marathon. Macaroons R Us.
- some Krispy Kremes from a Service Station as we complete a College Tour for The Tall One. We can't buy them round here.
- waving good bye to Uncle Dave who will have completed his year at home. He'll be very much missed.

and who knows what else might be just around the corner.

I have a mix of Echo Park, October Afternoon and Amy Tangerine on here. And quite a few Slice shapes.

And the big sun in the top left? I'm in optimistic mood. We've already created our own sunshine this weekend with a visit from some dear blog friends. We had a blast! More on that another time..

Happy Sunday!

Oh, and don't forget - Storytelling Sunday next week

You have just given me the best idea with that pie chart! I haven't seen that paper, but I'm sure I can come up with something similar. Thanks!

Krispy Kreme---have you heard about the light? Around here, if the light's on, that means they are fresh and hot!

What delicious slices of pie. I never cease to be amazed by your originality with lay-out designs and the use of such gorgeous papers. It's a great idea to fill the pie with some tags; be interesting to see how that works out.
Glad you had a fun time with your blog friends, but Sad to hear Uncle Dave is off again.

What a fun way to document your summer plans!

Like this idea - it's good to get all your plans down on paper. I am lusting after the slice travel card after you mentioned it a few posts back - I keep getting put off by all the American state ones. Do you still use it a lot? What other shapes are good except the camera?

That paper is just perfect for your layout. It sounds like a great summer for me. I loved the road trips we took looking at colleges and seminaries. I was sorry when they were over. (But my kids were relieved to have made their decisions!)

Such a fun idea, to scrap about holiday plans. I hope they all go as you want them to, with no hitches. Do enjoy that cruise (just a tiny bit jealous, but saving up & hopeful, for next year).
Have a lovely holidays!
Who did you meet up with? Who? Could it have been... was it... hmm, I can guess, but I won't let any cats out of bags - it's your party!

You turned that paper into a great effect, I feel confident that you are the sort of Gal to make as many dreams happen as you can for you and your family and I can't wait to see the results here over the next few months. Enjoy :)

I love the pie chart! There is so much detail on there and yet it doesn't look crowded at all. A very cool idea that I will have to remember for when it is summer :-)

Congrats on another gorgeous, creative, and thoughtful layout! It sounds like a great plan, and I was especially glad to see the bit about the near-end of orthodontia. I'm guessing the not-so-small-one is thrilled at the prospect.
