I have a piece of pie for you today. A pie chart page. Last year, at the beginning of the summer, I made a layout about our plans for the break; this year I decided to do the same thing. I thought the ready printed pie chart patterned paper (by Kesi' Art from a Quirky Kit) would be perfect:
Once I was finished, though, I decided that I wanted to do a bit more writing. Expand on how we divide up our time. And so, instead of crowding what's already there, I have a plan for the pie. I'm going to carefully slit the edges of some of the "slices" so I can slip journaling tags underneath.
Some of the things you might spot on our to do list:
- our Scandinavian trip. Maybe we'll tell a few stories with The Little Mermaid.
- a lot more driving lessons.
- the final stage in the teeth straightening process. She's been a star!
- a baking marathon. Macaroons R Us.
- some Krispy Kremes from a Service Station as we complete a College Tour for The Tall One. We can't buy them round here.
- waving good bye to Uncle Dave who will have completed his year at home. He'll be very much missed.
and who knows what else might be just around the corner.
I have a mix of Echo Park, October Afternoon and Amy Tangerine on here. And quite a few Slice shapes.
And the big sun in the top left? I'm in optimistic mood. We've already created our own sunshine this weekend with a visit from some dear blog friends. We had a blast! More on that another time..
Happy Sunday!
Oh, and don't forget - Storytelling Sunday next week

The pie paper is gorgeous and I love how you have added all your own little details and journaling xx
What a lovely idea for a layout - I might emulate this for our summer holidays!
You have just given me the best idea with that pie chart! I haven't seen that paper, but I'm sure I can come up with something similar. Thanks!
Krispy Kreme---have you heard about the light? Around here, if the light's on, that means they are fresh and hot!
Ha,ha, between our bread and pie we could open a bakery! I love a girl who is organised, I write lists but pie charts? Now that is super organised. Me? Taking it as it comes this year. Already had too Many ''surprises' . Btw...how did the sandwich get there?
What a great idea Sian...sounds like a busy- but hopefully fun packed- summer! Looking forward to hearing about Rinda's visit
Alison xx
What delicious slices of pie. I never cease to be amazed by your originality with lay-out designs and the use of such gorgeous papers. It's a great idea to fill the pie with some tags; be interesting to see how that works out.
Glad you had a fun time with your blog friends, but Sad to hear Uncle Dave is off again.
Love the pie idea....and how great to scrap your summer plans. Looks like a busy, but fun, time.Fingers crossed for sunshine!
I love how you put this together
lvoe the pie chart idea and looks like you have an interesting summer ahead.
Such a smart way to collect your summer plans!!! Very creative design, I love it!
Brilliant way to use up a (for me) difficult PP - love the idea of slipping in the extra tags!
What a lovely idea Sian. I can't believe Uncle Dave has been with you a hole year - how fast the time has gone. Looking forward to Storytelling Sunday & hoping to join in.
What a fun way to document your summer plans!
Like this idea - it's good to get all your plans down on paper. I am lusting after the slice travel card after you mentioned it a few posts back - I keep getting put off by all the American state ones. Do you still use it a lot? What other shapes are good except the camera?
Love this! Such an orignal LO and great use of that paper design. Yur Summer plans sound like lots of fun. Figers crossed for some sun to shine on us all :o)
The months just fly by! I cannot believe STS is next week :)
That is a very creative layout, love the design.
What a lovely idea! Loved your layout this month in Scrap365, well I always do but this month particularly.
That paper is just perfect for your layout. It sounds like a great summer for me. I loved the road trips we took looking at colleges and seminaries. I was sorry when they were over. (But my kids were relieved to have made their decisions!)
Such a fun idea, to scrap about holiday plans. I hope they all go as you want them to, with no hitches. Do enjoy that cruise (just a tiny bit jealous, but saving up & hopeful, for next year).
Have a lovely holidays!
Who did you meet up with? Who? Could it have been... was it... hmm, I can guess, but I won't let any cats out of bags - it's your party!
You turned that paper into a great effect, I feel confident that you are the sort of Gal to make as many dreams happen as you can for you and your family and I can't wait to see the results here over the next few months. Enjoy :)
I love what you did with this and the tag idea is good. KK started here in NC and th local store was one block from my college, many a HOT NOW donut eaten after a night of studying or playing. I hope TTO finds the perfect fit :)
I love the pie chart! There is so much detail on there and yet it doesn't look crowded at all. A very cool idea that I will have to remember for when it is summer :-)
That has to be the prettiest pie chart I've ever seen.
Wow that year has gone fast, it doesn't seem that long ago Uncle Dave was arriving!
Love all your little touches, am so glad you show those close up shots!
Has Uncle Dave really been with you for a year? Oh my goodness, that's flown .. I'll be missing his appearances on here too.
Sorry, Sian, that Anonymous above was me! Working on a PC laptop ..
What a fab idea foe displaying your plans for the summer, I love it! And it certainly looks like you'll be busy. Where is Uncle Dave of to next?
Oh my gosh - I just made a pie chart art journal page comparing how I spend my time here vs. at home!
Rinda
Cool page, I love the big pie chart paper, it's a great idea to slip some journaling behind the pieces of pie! I like all the little shapes scattered everywhere on the page too! x
Have a good summer. My lot decided it wasn't worth the walk so we didn't but please say hello to the little mermaid for me. And good luck with the college tour...are you visiting anywhere near here ?
What an absolutely neat idea! It looks great. I think I'm definitely going to have to try doing this.
Congrats on another gorgeous, creative, and thoughtful layout! It sounds like a great plan, and I was especially glad to see the bit about the near-end of orthodontia. I'm guessing the not-so-small-one is thrilled at the prospect.
