So I was delighted when a tidy up in The (Not So) Small One's room ("Do you still want to keep the Madeline dolls out?" "Yes, I'm never too old for them.") reminded me about a layout we made together back before I was blogging.
It's about our Madeline collection and how we relied on ebay to buy the bits we wanted. At a bargain price, of course. If you know the books, you'll know that they are written in verse; so we gave it a go together and this is how it turned out:
And I'm glad I went back and looked at it this week becasue it has inspired me to think around the words. A poem. A quote. A slogan. A recipe or a news headline. All good. all useful. All worth a try...
..maybe for next week's Storytelling Sunday? I have a Jubilee story planned..

Yes, once you start, there are so many ways to tell a story. This is a beautiful page, I love the idea of collaborative journaling!
Oh Sian I love this on so many levels - that the nsso still wants to keep her Madeline collection, that you ebayed for the clothes that you wrote the poem together and that it is such a beautiful layout.
Is there no end to your talents?! What a great poem, and a great layout. Fantastic!
Fabulous page - just the right colors and words and pictures. Well done. Hmmm. . . and you may not be the only one who reverts to rhyme for a bit of fun. Maybe on Sunday?
Love the page,Sian...wonderful colours....great poem....such fun.
I remember when DD2's collection of Sylvanian Family toys went from being 'toys' to be a 'collection'.
Wonderful page - I used to love watching Madeline when DD was smaller!
Awesome sweet layout! I used to read Madeline to my girls when they were little.
Terrific writing and a lovely LO! The painted background is great and I love the black border. Stitched, I think! The photos really shine! Journaling really is the most important part of the LO.
What a great poem you made together. The layout is bold and beautiful to go with it.
Just wonderful!
Lovely way to journal. I'm getting ready for next weekend with bunting making tomorrow...mums helping:)
I love it Sian! The journaling in verses is so wonderful and the design so modern, even for an older page!!! What a special memory keeper this page turns out to be!
I adore this! It's possibly one of my favourites of yours Sian! I love all that black against the clean-ness of the other colours. I love the poem, I love the story behind it. I love all of it - THIS is the type of scrapbooking I want to do!
Love the painterly effect and the poetry. Some things never date; your page looks fresh and new and Madeline looks very settled in your household. Looking forward to reading all the delights Storytelling Sunday bring.
Liking the poem and the page. I sometimes do poems for my journalling - its good when you have writer's block!
Glad you remembered this page..well worth sharing!

I'm not familiar with Madeline dolls but loved your page and the poem. It's good to look back on past projects for inspiration. It looks quite currant in it's design too!
Lovely. Love the verse and the page
Your little poem was just perfect for the layout!
I love this post and we used to enjoy watching Madeline so it brought back memories :) xx
Glorious! Is there no end to your talents? :)
you are just too good Sian! Beautiful writing and a lovely memory recorded.
Fantastic page, I love the poem. It's nice you created the layout together too. I need to share some of my daughter's pages on my blog, she quite enjoys 'making pictures like mummy' now!
Delightful. Wonderful memory, great design. Taking notes of the stitching and painted background. Way cool.
The blue on the page is so vibrant. Clever you and tnsso with the poem.
Love the journalling in poem form and isn't that just the most beautiful shade of blue :o)
. . . that was covered in vines!
Those words come so easily to mind. Loved the books. I've been thinking about Storytelling Sunday. . . can't decided whether to do a wordy story or focus on a photo.

Sian, this is AWESOME!!! I LOVE that you chronicled this and that the two of you did it together. Can't say enough how precious it is.
Wonderful page. Madeline was a favorite of mine and of my daughter as well. We only had the books though.
Gorgeous LO Sian, I adore the colours especially!
