In an Old House in Paris

I've been thinking about journaling recently. sundry projects and invitations have got me writing away and dreaming up new ways of putting words on the page.

So I was delighted when a tidy up in The (Not So) Small One's room ("Do you still want to keep the Madeline dolls out?" "Yes, I'm never too old for them.") reminded me about a layout we made together back before I was blogging.

It's about our Madeline collection and how we relied on ebay to buy the bits we wanted. At a bargain price, of course. If you know the books, you'll know that they are written in verse; so we gave it a go together and this is how it turned out:

And I'm glad I went back and looked at it this week becasue it has inspired me to think around the words. A poem. A quote. A slogan. A recipe or a news headline. All good. all useful. All worth a try...

..maybe for next week's Storytelling Sunday? I have a Jubilee story planned..

Stitching and rubons and paint

Yes, once you start, there are so many ways to tell a story. This is a beautiful page, I love the idea of collaborative journaling!

Oh Sian I love this on so many levels - that the nsso still wants to keep her Madeline collection, that you ebayed for the clothes that you wrote the poem together and that it is such a beautiful layout.

Fabulous page - just the right colors and words and pictures. Well done. Hmmm. . . and you may not be the only one who reverts to rhyme for a bit of fun. Maybe on Sunday?

Love the page,Sian...wonderful colours....great poem....such fun.
I remember when DD2's collection of Sylvanian Family toys went from being 'toys' to be a 'collection'.

Terrific writing and a lovely LO! The painted background is great and I love the black border. Stitched, I think! The photos really shine! Journaling really is the most important part of the LO.

I adore this! It's possibly one of my favourites of yours Sian! I love all that black against the clean-ness of the other colours. I love the poem, I love the story behind it. I love all of it - THIS is the type of scrapbooking I want to do!

Love the painterly effect and the poetry. Some things never date; your page looks fresh and new and Madeline looks very settled in your household. Looking forward to reading all the delights Storytelling Sunday bring.

Fantastic page, I love the poem. It's nice you created the layout together too. I need to share some of my daughter's pages on my blog, she quite enjoys 'making pictures like mummy' now!

Those words come so easily to mind. Loved the books. I've been thinking about Storytelling Sunday. . . can't decided whether to do a wordy story or focus on a photo.
