This Charming Man

Little E. Gary the Magnificent. It's a love/hate thing.

They got on just fine until the day Little E offered Gary his finger. Hamsters quite like fingers; especially ones tasting of magically delicious toddler snack. So now, Little E likes to drop in on Gary and see if he's awake; then he'll leave again, sharpish. When we ask him if he wouldn't rather stay and play he is firm in his answer.

"No," he says, "I have finished Garying."

I made this page with some of the new Echo Park This&That Charming collection, just in at Gotta Craft and I cut the letters, the silhouette and the angel wings (though they look like little devil horns, don't they?) with my Slice.

I'm afraid I've never liked 'Garying'...so I'm totally with Little E.
I really like how you've written directly onto the page.

What a sweet photo and a nice story to go with. Thanks to you, Little E is going to have quite the collection of memory pages to look back on--each one more precious than the last!

That was what I didn't like about hamsters. They are not vegetarian, they are omnivores. Give them a taste for Human Finger... hmm..
My sister's kids kept hamsters. They were very friendly and didn't bite. Then my friend's daughter had them - she is an animal charmer and her hamsters were so friendly you could cuddle them.
My feelings about hamsters have been altered by my life's experience.
Perhaps Little 'E' will discover this later in his life.
Meanwhile, he might like the "Humphrey" books, by Betty G. Birney. Or perhaps in a year or two, when he's at school.

Lovely page, Sian - and such a wonderful subject choice. These are the little memories that it's great to keep for ever; your scrapbooks will be something to treasure, both for you and the family at large!

Little E is surely destined to be a wordsmith - I can think of several occassions where that is exactly how I felt

Cute story and page, Sian! Little E is brilliant in his own way - in fact, I think I'll take his advice about a situation where I just have gotten bit.

such a cute story. little e is so clever - turning gary into a verb! i like how you take a specific moment in time and record it on a page in such an artistic manner.

awww... loving the sunshine colours here. all the little details fit perfectly with your story (you really have a knack for this - 'sharp'? what else could that be for but Sian's hamster vs boy LO?!). thanks for your lovely comments on my tiniest of stories yesterday. I might join you for storytelling Sunday from now on. I'll give it some serious thought. x

ah yes, once a hamster has had the taste of toddler, he just wants more and more ... my son has the scars to prove it!
I love the expression 'Garying' I predict it will be used for many years to come!
