So here's the thing: the motto of the company we travelled with is "Escape Completely". And we did, oh we did. And yet as we travelled and looked and admired and wondered, I found myself spotting things you would have liked. And that was nice.
I saw a collection of trolls one of you would have loved. And a shop full of clean Scandi design another one of you would have wanted to bring home. And a decoupaged table which I just know would have had one of you reaching for the mod podge. And then I started looking for things from my list, my list for Rinda's Summertime Scavenger Photo Hunt, and I discovered a few:
Wall art in Stavanger |
Decorated mail boxes in Olden |
Rooster weather vane in Olden |
Wooden bridge in Geiranger |
I've been enjoying seeing who else has been joining in, as I sift slowly through the posts I've missed. I'm savouring them in between loads of laundry. Nearly there with that - I needed a fast turn around because on Sunday The Tall One flies to Pittsburgh to take part in the International Schools Language Olympiad. He's been doing a bit of training with Uncle Dave:
Dave: Forget cricket. That was your old life. The hard work starts here. I've marked a few passages..
The Tall One: Yeah. Right. I'm off out to play cricket.
Whatever you are up to this Thursday, I hope it's a good one!

Yes, there are many more people to think of now when we are out and about!
You have done extremely well on the scavenger hunt - that wall art will be hard to beat!
Norway looks stunning! Seems like you had perfect weather for it too. Glad to have you back ;-)
You've got some great shts there Sian - I'm particularly enjoying the mailboxes.
Great shots Sian! I love the wall art and those decorated mail boxes are lovely, not something you see around here much!
Bless you thinking of us all while out and about. And well done on the scavanger hunt - you got some great shots.
great photos and you clearly had some good weather. Scavenger hunt is a nice way to get a peek at another country
Wow, lovely photos! I really love Scandinavia... I had a couple of wonderful travelling holidays there, in my 20's, with a friend, a tent and a rail-pass. We went from Bergen, by rail, all the way North, then back down South through Sweden, ending up at Stockholm, then home by ferry, train and another ferry, via Denmark. The next time, we used buses and trains, to travel through Norway, Sweden and into Northern Finland too. They were both fabulous trips. Since then I have had a great holiday in Arandal, where my FIL comes from. He and MIL lived there for a while, when J. was little. We had a fab. week's holiday a few years back. I would love to live in Scandinavia...
It's great to see your lovely photos. I'm impressed that you remembered your Scavenger Hunt, even though you were on holiday. It's also rather nice that you thought of blog friends while you were away. Some of those "finds" sound great... I would have liked to be there, looking over your shoulder (metaphorically of course, else it would be just too creepy!!)
Welcome back. Love the tale of TTO and Uncle Dave's language revision sessions - Uncle's out for a duck!
Makes me wish I was there with you - looks so relaxing!
Great finds! I especially love that rooster weather vane. I have my list all ready to take with me on vacation!
I'm enjoying the rooster vane - and Uncle Dave of course. Bless. The Tall One will be fine - what are long flights for?
The wall art looks very interesting was that just an average house? Good luck with washing marathon it'll soon be over.
Lizzie - Norway is now our favourite place in the world. We are very envious of your extensive travels!
Amanda - it was a hairdressers shop called "You're Gorgeous, Now What About The Hair"
lovely photos Sian, loving the wall art and the mail boxes. Good luck to the Tall One too xx

Good luck to the tall one. Pittsburgh is dear to my heart, lived there for several years. Lots of family and friends in Pennsylvania still.
Thanks for sharing the photos - that bridge looks lovely.
Sounds like it was a wonderful trip - great photos!
Lovely pics! And good luck to your son x
Fab photos - bringing back happy memories of a rail tour round Norway in my 20s while I was living in Sweden - must get organised and take my family there some day - I've bored them enough with the tales!
your photos and descriptions make me want to pack my bags and head on over! great shots for the scavenger hunt. we are going to the grand canyon next week for five nights so i hope to get a few crossed off on the trip.
Good to have you back!
I wasn't going to join in the scavenger hunt, and purely by chance showed the list of things to find to my husband. So we're in a park in Sheffield and he's pointing out 'look - a wooden bridge' 'oh look, what an impressive museum' and suddenly ...I'm in! Bet I can't find any wall art like that though - fantastic.
Maybe uncle dave needs to gem up on his Jedi mind games for TTO. Norway looks beautiful and the photos are fab.
GLAD YOU HAD SUCH AN INSPIRING TIME
great photos . sounds like a fab time. I especially love the photo of the house with the weathervane and the ivy all over it - I love the background and the colours. Nice to see you back!
stunning, beautiful photos and I love that wall art. xxx
Loved Scandinavia when we did our Baltic cruise. Looks like you did really well on the scavenger hunt. Love those mail boxes.
May I just say I love the contrast of a red building against the green of field or forest. Your shot is stunning.
Love the photos Sian, so unfortunate with yesterday's events in Norway. I'm sure enjoying the scavenger hunt photos, I have to take a look at that list!
Oh SO beautiful, Sian. Your photos are lovely and it's been so fun to see the different takes on scavenger hunt items! I really love the decorated mailboxes and the beautiful setting behind the rooster weather vane!
Welcome back Sian! I'm now where you were when you wrote this. Got the laundry going; up just a bit early from the time change; contemplating my first post-holiday post; etc.
Love your pictures. I can't tell you how happy it makes me to see so many people participating. And how cool that you found the mailboxes! Although my favorite (as you could probably guess) is the graffiti art.
