Paper, Polls and Passing The Book(s)

It's Results Day here at High In The Sky. Let's start with that poll, shall we? On Tuesday I asked you to choose one thing you might like to see more of and our survey said? 37% of you wanted more scrapbooking, and 28% said more storytelling. Interesting! Thank you for taking the time to vote and leave a comment. And if you haven't yet, then you are still welcome right here.

With my two favourites top of the poll, I'm happy to get to it straight away, so I'd like to show you  my "inspiration page " from last week's Pass The Book:

As soon as I saw that Romancing The Ordinary was arranged by months, I remembered one of my favourite childhood birthday presents. A fat pink Puffin book given to me by an aunt who has a talent for good gift giving. It's still on my shelf today, battered and worn. Well loved, you could call it. It, too, has a chapter for every month of the year with hearty old fashioned suggestions for "something to do", usually involving old matchboxes or balsa wood. I never did find any spare balsa wood lying round our kitchen, which is probably a good thing, but this book sat beside my bed for years. Thanks Auntie B!

Which brings me to the adopter of Romancing The Ordinary. It's....Helena this month. Helena, I hope you enjoy it. Drop me an email with your address and I'll get it in the post.

But, wait. This month I was also choosing a new adopter for Creative Wildfire. And it turns out to be FurryPig. I think you are going to like this one!

Now I'm off to do some more scrapbooking. Or maybe write another story. Mmm..which to choose? Maybe a coffee will help me decide...

ETA: I've made my photo bigger today. What do you think? Please let me know!

Scrapbook page or story - it doesn't matter because you have such a talent for both.

helena said...

yeah - I was really hoping I was lucky with this one

I think I had that something to do book too - or one like it - how many can there have been on the market?

Cheryl said...

- both, of course :-)
i'm not a fan of pink but your layout is so soft and vintagey that I definitely like it here x

I like all the detail in your layout Sian, and you've photographed the April page of the book...it's great x

Well, now that the details are out of the way I hope you can get on with your task at hand! As an avid reader I am always so pleased to see your posts popping up - I think you have the scrapping/story combination down pat!

Happy Easter to all High In The Sky :-)

Love the layout but I have to say you are going to cost me a fortune with this pass the book malarkey - I keep spotting books that I think I'd like and then when I don't 'win' it somehow falls into my Amazon basket anyway - oops.

Love the layout - and as always the story behind it. One of my fav books from childhood was "What Katy Did" - I read it many many times - my first copy was originally my Mums - oh how I wish I had kept it!

Love the look of that wonderful book - amazing how the last four decades have encompassed such deep change. I suspect that had the book been published in 1926, girls 40 years later would still have found something interesting in it.

The perfect pink paper for that lovely sounding book. and not a single zebra in sight ... :-)

Once again, all your embellishments and photos are perfectly arranged. Such a fabulous page!

Hi Sian! Just popping in from Shimelle's class. I think the photo of your LO is a good size, it's a really clear photo and you can see all the details. I love the design of the LO, and the subject is just great!

I tried to leave you a comment on your poll post but blogger was having a funny 5 mins. Gorgeous layout with the pink paper.

Actually, I do like the photo so big! Being a person with glasses (and a little laptop screen to look at!), I prefer to see layouts in all their glory, without having to re-size my screen...

It's a fabby layout, Sian - so colourful and girly! As usual, you have used such a great collection of little extras, to really make the page pop.

DS has a book with a similar theme - it's called "101 Things to Do (Before You're Old and Boring)"! It has all sorts of fun (and often silly!) suggestions to try, with tick-boxes and checklists to fill in as you go. He loves it. He also has "Boys Book of Adventure", which is probably quite a similar idea to your girls' book above.

Love your layout, I'm not usually one for pink but this is one I really like.

I love that page! I'm trying to pinpoint exactly what it is - I think the colors and the mix of embellishments. It really flows well together - which is not easy to do with such variety. Very sweet. What a cool book to still own. My aunt gave me a book (Winnie the Pooh) that I absolutely LOVED. I was heartbroken in high school to find out that my mom had given it away! You are so lucky to have that book still in your possession.

Super cool layout, Sian! And yes, I love that the photo is larger. I've been wanting to do that on my blog but haven't figured out how to do it yet. Probably need to get my girl C to help me on that one...

Hi Sian! I have not read today's prompt yet, but have come by through BBFS. Personally, I really like the bigger photo :) I find it just stands out so much more on my widescreen. I love the colours here and what a great inspirational layout!

Great layout - I like the larger size also. And of course, layouts about children's books - just doesn't get much better than that (scrapbooking & reading all rolled into one!).

I love the layout this size! I looked back at your older posts to compare and I can see so much more detail on the page, and it looks great on reader too. :)

Plus it doesn't hurt that it's a fab page! :)

Your LO is amazing!! So much fun embellishing to look at and I love the soft colours. What a great LO to document your love of your childhood book. My sister had a book when we were children called, "Things to Make and Do." It was a scholastic book from the book club at school. We sure loved that book and it was well used and referred to for fun. I think I'll ask her if she still has it. I love the new larger LO size! I changed mine a few months ago and love it. So much easier to see all the great details of our work! :)

Great layout! Congrats to Helena and FurryPig on the book wins. I honestly don't know if I have the patience to wait for another chance at Creative Wildfire. I may have to put it back on my Amazon Wish List!

Amy said...

I'm, back after being over on the forum ... yes, the bigger photos are certainly better, especially for your layouts Sian as they contain so much detail - a worthwhile change if you ask me!

I like the bigger photo - it sows this beautiful layout to it's full advantage. How did you decide to do it?
