Today I have for you my Monthly Make. Annie The Felt Fairy has been busy passing out patterns for anyone who fancied a go at sewing Stanley. And I did, so I grabbed one.
My Stanley looks like a bit of a handbag dog:
The original, of course, was made famous by Cath Kidston. He started out as a pet and became a muse. I saw the real Stanley in one of her shops in London once; but he was curled up fast asleep in his basket and I just couldn't persuade him to part with any Cath secrets at all..
Here he is in front of a layout I made about a trip to a Cath Kidston shop. The story is here |

I love these dogs! I have a Scottie dog pattern waiting for my attention but it can't be a real Scottie because he's very patient :-)
A cool name for a cool dog!! He's beautiful, i wanted to make one of these for my Stanley but never got around to signing up. You've done a grand job Sian :)
You've done a great job there,Sian...he looks so cool. I've got the pattern....but whether I'll actually get him made this month is another matter!!
so cute, love this
Cute dog, but I keep coming back to how much I love that layout! It looks even better in the lighting in this post than the last, I think. I know I'm attracted to clotheslines (as well as houses), so maybe that's what draws it to me so much.

Stanley is soooo cute! The stitching looks so great. Loving this LO too and the story behind it. It is funny to think back on the days of being busy moms. So true that just a small bit of craft time without the kids was just so treasured. I was really into cross-stitching back then and treasured the snippets of time when the girls were sleeping and I could quietly stitch.
What a great canine! Your scrapbook page is wonderfully colourful too - as is your story. Gosh, two Mums just needing a break - that takes me back ...
I love Stanley, he is really cute and I remember that layout too,I loved it then,it's beautiful x
Awww, what a cutie. Where is he going to live now?
That's a lovely "Stanley", Sian. I love the teeny little heart on his back-patch and the contrasting stitching all round his body.
If he lives in your hand-bag, he'll make a lot of people smile!
My, Stanley is a very fine dog indeed :-) I'm very pleased to meet him, and so will The Girl be when I show him to her tomorrow xx
He is adorable.
Stanley is adorable! I always admire anyone who can sew, my skills there are non-existent.
I never realised they suddenly became popular because of her - I knew I kept seeing them dangling on handbags but didn't click! Well, you learn something new.
I love your Stanley I have to say :)
oh he's a cutie .. and such neat, neat stitching.
Like Rinda, I do love Stanley, but I adore that layout and went again to have another good look at it. Thanks for the link.
Stanley looks adorable.
