Pass the Book: August's Adopter and a Layout

Today's the day! I'm not really in the mood for suspense, so without further..no, wait, maybe I am. I'll show you my page first instead

I thought it might be a nice idea to do a page inspired by each book before I sent it off - and if any of the adopters want to do one too, well that would be lovely. My page started off after I looked at this:

and I used some of the other questions to create the rest of my journaling. It really made me think about why I choose to make certain things and how I start going about it; and I'm probably going to continue recording my thoughts on the back of the page. I'll put some more journaling ideas on the information page.

So that means you are ready...the first adopter of Where Women Create: Book Of Inspiration is...

Sandi

I wrote out the list of names, stuck a pin in it and it landed beside Sandi; and that made me smile because it was Sandi who set me off on the Pass the Book path in the first place. So Sandi, please drop me an email with your address. Everyone else, keep an eye on Sandi's blog and she'll let you know when she's ready to pass it on. And of course keep an eye out here too: I've chosen a novel for September.

sometimes it is good to stop and take stock - it re-centres you. a good and necessary antidote to the scrapping frenzy out there! x

She's going to be thrilled! I think she's down in London this weekend celebrating a {ahem} big birthday so this is perfect timing!
So... a novel next .... can't wait to see what you choose!

Great page Sian, I love the colours. Funnily enough, I've just been reading May's post today, also about using a book to inspire a scrap layout, here's the link if you want to check it out:

Love how there's all these connections out there in blogland! x

Yes, I enjoyed sewing classes at school, because they were so sociable. We had an unofficial "Needlework Club", who all met up in the needlework room at break or lunch times - whenever the teacher was there really. She welcomed us all and was always happy to help with our projects. I have much to thank her for, as she encouraged me to learn so many new skills - including social skills!

Love the scrap page. It's fun that it was inspired by your Pass the Book project.

I had a look at Sandi's blog. She lives in Bedfordshire too - someone local! But I would have added her to my follow list anyway, as it's a great blog, with interesting posts. Thanks for the link!

i love your page because i so relate. i took several home-ec sewing classes in junior high but my step-daughter, who goes to a K-8 school, doesn't have those options(her limited "electives" are chosen for her.) i can't wait for the books "on tour" - i would be happy to suggest one and send it to you to pass on... just an idea.

I used to be quite indignant about classes at school which had a domestic focus - at least the boys had to do them as well and we had to do the woodwork and work the metal lathe. With hindsight, it was all a part of a good education.

A great page today Sian and I'm looking forward to watching this book on it's travels!

What a super idea, to create a scrapbook page to celebrate the book itself and our reactions to it. If it comes my way,I might also include someone about the person whose idea it was (that'd be you, then, Sian!) and the person who sent it to me ...

Jennifer - thanks for the link. What a nice coincidence!

Rinda - I never can get the Get It Scrapped buttons to work either, fingers crossed for this one

Laurie - I love that idea. Thank you! I could have "guest suggestors"

Lovely layout Sian.

Yellow. Jack Wills. Bag. 3 of my favourite things! Tell a certain small someone that I'm most envious ... and, should we ever meet, she might not want to leave it unattended near me ...
