Talking About Hobbies

So, I'm trying to learn a bit more about photography (I'm trying to learn something, anything about photography) And I'm taking this class. I've been looking for somebody to take photos of today; but they're all out, so when the teacher suggested using a stuffed animal instead I knew immediately there was only one man for the job. The pistol packin', sheriff-badge wearing hobby horse: Horsey. I asked him to help and he said What's it worth? So I said If you cooperate I promise not to talk through Ice Road Truckers (which is his favourite show) and he said Lets do it. So here we are. First up: playing with focus points.  I can play up Horsey's beady little eye:

or his shiny, new badge:

I think I'm starting to get the idea. So, because I had another layout to show you today, I took one photo with intelligent auto:

and one with the back button:

and it turns out that the first one looks flat and the second one draws your eye towards the embellishments and the photo. Or am I imagining things?

Good to see you're enjoying your class Sian. And thanks for sharing your conversation with Horsey - made me laugh!

I'd like to see more of Horsey, please.

I think Horsey deserves a whole page layout of his own. What a little poser he is!
I agree, the second photo in the layout is better!

Now I'm rethinking whether to join that class! LOL! Actually, I would but I just am so behind and low energy from being sick that I wouldn't be able to get much out of it right now.
The second picture is MUCH better, and it does almost look like you've actually tilted it differently.
The l/o is FAB by the way. I love the house element!
And, you & horsey are hilarious!!!

Horsey would get on very well with a certain person in this house....who does not appreciate talking during 'ice road truckers' either.
Love the layout...and there's a definate difference in the photos....but what is the back button??....just shows how little I know about photography.

I know nothing about photography and at some point will do a course myself. Meanwhile I might just need to get myself a horsey. The second pic is definitely better x

I could do with a horsey to practise on myself! It'd certainly make a pleasant change from photographing grumpy cats.
Gorgeous LO Sian! Love that chenille-like (or whatever it is) trim :)

I haven't got a Horsey so if I get one will it improve my photography?
Back button is definitely better.I know what it is but I don't think I can remember where it is on my camera so maybe I need those classes!

Well, Horsey is a fun little chap, isn't he? So funny,Sian! Good pictures too.

I don't know about the photos of the layout. It may be because I'm looking at them on a laptop screen, but the second looks quite washed out to me. I do prefer the first - my eye was immediately drawn to the photo, which looks almost 3D, then to the journalling beneath. But it may be my screen - esp. as others dont agree with me!

It's a great layout by the way - I love your journalling - fun story. Reminds me of the only time our family went camping (after much expense to get kitted out, so we'd go often). It was the year J. started school. We went in the windiest summer we've had for ages. By the Wednesday, the tent was being blown almost horizontal and we couldn't sit up in it! Decided to go home a day early - just as well, they had a hurricane force gale that night!
J. declared he never wanted to go camping again (though he went with the cubs, so he has done. It's my fault we haven't gone since - back problems!).
Your Hadrians wall story is so good - and made more alive by the mention of chilly Romans and tired horses etc.
I always like to see your layouts - they're great!

I agree with Lizzie that the second photo looks really washed out to me but I'm also a laptop user so could be the issue? I do like the angle it gives the page though.
Thanks for the horsey conversation, it made me laugh and I've been feeling down this evening so I really needed that! I'm gonna go and find my Spencer Bear and have a heart to heart with him!

Good for you doing a photography class, I start mine at college in April......so excited!
Love the convo with horsey....That is Emily's fave thing to play at the moment but she has me on my hands and knees crawling around with her on my back! Singing the song repeatedly.
The layout is simply stunning Sian, into my faves I think!

I'm a laptop user too, so the second one is looking very bright / washed out. Probably because of my type of screen. Either way, I absolutely adore that layout! Beautiful layering!

I love this layout. Your scrapping style is amazing. I also love the way u have included a lot of journalling that works so well in the design. The photography class looks awesome. I love taking photos and the best way really is to play around! xxx

Isn't Horsey a darling!

The second photo does look a little washed out to me too, but again I am on a laptop! I guess this is showing up that us laptop users don't see the world the same way! lol
