Starting with a sheet of patterned paper, I cut out an apple shape to emphasize the iPhone theme. A strong shape works best for this, I think. I'm going to try a heart next, or a house.
Then I laid the patterned paper over a sheet of cardstock and drew round the apple shape. Then I laid strips of paper and a line of rubons inside the apple. I'm thinking of using lines of stitching the next time maybe?
Finally I layered the patterned paper over the cardstock to line up exactly with my shape and added the rest of my elements:
What do you think? It would work for a layout all in one colour, maybe for a wedding or a baby page with rows of little buttons or cross stitch motifs. I might give it a go.

What a great idea and very effective! A lovely, colourful page as always.
Brilliant idea Sian and I love your other suggestions too. I look forward to seeing the one featuring stitching. Enjoy your photography class.
Ooh, I like this muchly! The layout AND the technique, I mean... Will definitely be trying this xx
what a great little concept. I can imagine tons of uses for this! Will have to scraplift at some point!
I've learnt a new word! Scraplifting! What a great description. Oh - and yes, think I'll be doing a bit of 'scraplifting' too, this is a great technique.
Now, I would never think to do this in a month of Sundays! Looks fabulous :-)
It looks so effective, Sian....definately an idea to borrow.

I really like this technique.

Hi Sian..thanks for dropping by & leaving a comment..I am loving your LO & that's a great technique...I might lift that & weave the paper strips in the cut-out! the light isn't good today is it...I may try & get out & about with my camera tomorrow morning, weather permitting!! Enjoy your new phone!!
Great idea, I might use this on a wedding layout, of which I still have about a million to do...!!
A fab idea! Ever thought of using some foam-core, corrugated cardboard or mount board between the layers, to give even more depth?
I like how you did half the apple behind the patterned paper and the other half on top. This could work for so many things. I might have to "borrow" your idea too!
Love the depth!! Such a simple technique, but it really makes a big difference. Great page.
I love it and I love my iPhone! I can't iphone yet either. The apps I have are quizquizquiz, a vampire quiz *dies of shame*, alarm clock, facebook and echofon.
Havent set emails up yet, although not a bad thing, means work cant get me TOO easily! :)
