The Love Your Selfie Giveaway (Because It's Nearly Valentine's Day)

I've been tidying again. I had no other choice (and if you've seen my quick video on IG, you'll understand). I've covered two tables with stuff I haven't put away and I've moved onto the floor. I made an entire layout yesterday while sitting cross legged on the carpet. That would be the very same carpet I am just about to attack with some Vanish Stain remover: bits of it are blue which most definitely weren't before I started. But I'm getting too old for the cross legged thing; and if I cover the floor with paper, I have nowhere left to go. So - novel idea - I'm putting it all away. And I'm looking at what's left and realising that I have plenty to pass on to someone who could make good use of it

Scrapbooking mug from this post not included; but I'm told by The House of Little E that they can be bought from supermug.co.uk

So, I thought I'd do a Valentine's Giveaway. It's called the Love Your Selfie Giveaway because I'm not going to beat myself up over the mess I've made, and you're not going to beat yourself up if you leave me a comment even though you've got quite a collection of supplies already. A fresh injection of something new can be very inspiring!

With that in mind, I'm putting together an envelope of mostly Life Pages cards and embellishments (the picture shows a little bit of what I've gathered up) and offering it to you. Leave me a comment telling me your favourite embellishment (so I can personalise your package) and I'll draw a name. I'm happy to post internationally and I'll be keeping the giveaway open for the next week. Oh, and if you are more of a scrapbooker than a pocket pager - don't hold back. I use these cards

- as a layered stack to go behind photos on a page. Gather a few in your hand and staple them through the middle. Don't try to glue them together: it's the staple that leaves the edges loose and gives the dimensional effect.

- as a base for the front of a card

- as a pocket for memorabilia on a layout. Stitch round three sides and leave the top open

- as pre prepared journaling. Take a big card and write the story while it's in your head and then set it aside until you feel inspired to make the page

- as gift tags, with a hole punched in the top and a length of lovely ribbon

Love Your Selfie! Giveaway open for a week. Everyone welcome.

This made me smile. I don't resort to the floor to scrap, I just clear the counter to the floor and scrap on the counter. I usually gather it all in a tray or IRIS box, so that way I can trip on the trays and boxes I have moved to the floor. And at your behest, I won't fret or beat myself up about the fact that I haven't cleaned up daily life cards for more than 3 months. More's the pity, because I actually started a little file system for them in the top of my Raskog. I claim that it was a brilliant idea to set up a separate desk for PL, because it keeps the work counter cleaner longer. But another couple of months and there could be stacks on the floor underneath the desk as well. So no need to include me in the draw but I have to say my fave new embellishments are the mini flair and those plastic die-cut shapes and words (that can sometimes look a bit cheesy). What can I say, I like shiny things. Maybe because they are easier to spot on a surface overflowing with paper (and on the floor too)! Good luck with the tidy-up!

I must admit I probably do a tidy up every week & like you, that involves picking things up off the floor. I would really like an entire room to devote to my crafting, one can only dream. That is very generous of you to donate some of your stash. My favourite embellisment? Not sure I have one, since there is not a lot of bling on any of my pages but as a combo scrapper, I have some done with pockets, some with full 12X12 pages & I never thought of some of your ideas. Thanks.

this did make me smile, I do tidy away every few days as I can't live in a mess, I sometimes wish I could. I don't really have a favourite embellishment although die cuts are very useful.

My favourite embellishment has got to be wood veneer. Dimensional but small enough to add to a cluster of other elements.

Hi Sian I haven't been blogging or scrapbooking for a while but I have your posts by email as I love your blog. I thought I was the only one who covered the whole room and ended up crafting on my lap. I think my fave part of crafting is adding paint and diecuts to my work. Talking of which I always cut far more than I need so if you want some to add to your giveaway let me know. Happy valentines to you. Xx

Thanks for a fab giveaway!! Well I attempted clearing up in the room of doom before Christmas but then cruises beckoned so I haven't done anything since then - I would like to say that I have closed the door on the mess but there is so much stuff stacked in the doorway that I can't LOL!!! Still I have a path through to the tumble dryer and the freezer but I do feel guilty when I see all the pizza boxes stacked up waiting to be sorted.

My favourite embellishment probably is butterflies - there aren't many layouts that I do where a butterfly isn't snuck in!!

I love all embellishments! I can't get enough of wood veneer anything, colorful sequins, and buttons.

I just love your creativity. I think a mess can be very inspiring. That's what I keep telling myself anyway.

Oh gosh. My favorite I guess would be flowers. Do I need anything. Why of course not! Do I "need" anything. Always! Lol. I have not been exiled to the floor yet but the workspace on my table is getting smaller and smaller. You are brave to send things away! But oh so nice of a surprise for someone. Happy creating!!

I'm going to have a major and I mean MAJOR stash sort out x

Hello! hold on, let me say it a little louder! Figured you were lost in thought while you tidied up. And you woudn't be the first person to get something scrapbook related on the carpet...or the wall....my brick floor has a gold smudge of paint on it at the moment. I'm viewing it as an improvement actually...means I do stuff. Lovely that you are clearing out. Someone needs to write a Marie Kondo book for us scrappers! My favorite stash is washi!

I use the dining table to scrap and I have a mad dog so I have to clear up straight away and my paper wouldn't survive on the floor, all that spreading out you've been doing sounds like a luxury :) Washi tape is my go to embellishment, I think it's so versatile.

I've designated April as the month to clean out my studio once again. Aside from stamps and die cuts, I've been pretty good about not adding too much to my stash, although I did break down and purchase several things for the Christmas Journal. But there are still way too many things I haven't touched in over a year that need to find a new home. But even though I need to clean out, I'll throw my hat in the ring, since the Life Project cards you show always make me envious. My favorite embellishments are the die cuts (and sometimes stamped cards) that I create myself.

Seems I am getting back to blog reading just in time :) I love washi tape, flowers and buttons ...can't choose one lol My crafting has now exploded out of the studio and into the guest room! It makes it very hard for the creativity to flow so I tend to get an order done then walk away. My hope is to have it organized, giving a lot away by late spring.

i just had to post, even though now I'm basically a total digital scrapper now. I just had to laugh at the image brought to mind of you sitting and scrapping on the floor. Well done you, getting your stuff organized and weeding some of it out. If my name/number comes up please draw again

This is so funny!!! I have full...unused subscription packs of stuff from studio calico...probably at least a few uears old. I havent allowed myself to open them because i have so much else spread all around!! I'm not even sure what kind of embellishment is my fave because I haven't done much scrapbooking lately. Still need to finish the last two jyc albums. (!)

My favorite embellishments are enamel dots. I tend to use small and medium sized enamel dots the most.

I've tried to resist this post but Im thinking it might be the incentive I need to give scapbooking a go. Its something I've ummed and ahhed about as I love your pages for holding onto memories but didnt think Id be able to do it. As I've not scapbooked Im not sure on embelishments, but I've picked up bits and pieces with my card making that could help i.e. die cuts or little wooden embelishments xx Thanks for the opportunity xx

Alison said...

I just can't imagine your craft room being messy!! At the moment my favourite embellishments are wood veneers xx

What a LOVELY giveaway! I'm terribly behind on blog reading & having a relaxing day to catch up today, so I'm sure I'll find out who the winner is a little later as I continue through my blog reader. :)

I've been using more of my pocket cards as I've found they make nice inserts or tip-ins for illustrated Bible journaling. I've used a few & I share them during my Bible journaling workshops.
