I made it for a blog post over at Gossamer Blue: a blog post about hidden journaling, because I had a notion that Christmas was a good time to talk about the stories we like to keep to ourselves.
But the more I've thought about it, the more I've realised January scrapbooking has its uses for writing under wraps too.
Unless you are happy to shout of what it is you'd like to change about yourself this year. And more power to your elbow, as we say round here, if that's the case.
Me? Sometimes I'm a little more coy. But since you've asked, maybe I'll spill
I find it hard to go past a sugary treat. Chocolate? I can take it or leave it. Jelly beans? Where? How many have you got?
This time next year? Maybe I'll have ditched the lift up, hide-it-all flap, and my page will be proudly proclaiming that I have kicked the habit. Sugar. It has to stop.

I have those lovely measuring cups too. Me, I can resist chocolate and sweets but a cake or biscuit and my hand moves by itself!!!
My big December downfall is anything baked!
So glad to have that month behind me. I"m back to working out and starting to eat healthy again.

I'll be cheering you on. Cutting down on unhealthy snacking is my aim for this year. It seems I can't have a coffee without reaching for a "little something" to go with it. I've replaced the afternoon cup with a smoothie. Mango and coconut today.
Sugar is a drug! I am no stranger to sugar recovery. Last year I was encouraged by Lady Ella's blog post to reduce the amount of hidden sugar I had. I was somewhat smug about it, I didn't take sugar in my tea, chocolate I could leave & my addiction to jube jubes was in control. Bam, life, with several of the life challenges coming this October, I lost in my recovery & being that Costco is my pusher for jube jubes, several trips were made. I think there needs to be a 12 step program for sugar recovery & a 12 X 12 page is a great starting place. I like your page. I wish you luck with the sugar battle. Couldn't agree more with the sugar addiction problem! Not candy for me, but any kind of baked goods - cookies, donuts, muffins, pie, (although I can usually pass on cake). My nemesis are chocolate chip cookies and brownies. But I'm also trying to break the sugar addiction and even made a one-page tracker for the year to chart my number of "sugar free days"!
I think you've already figured out I have a sugar problem too. I mean we have the same taste in cakes xxx
I have fallen in love with your measuring cups - aided and abetted by your beautiful clean and lemony ( and not at all sugary!) page. I am cheering you on - I know I felt much better and had better health when I cut out sugary things. Though I can still be tempted by a vegetarian Percy Pig :).

Oh my! Go you! I do like my little treats in the evening...and my sugar in my coffee. I have considered it though, sugar makes me tired, in a weird kinda way. Anyhow, I really dig your yellow burts of color on this page! And I am getting ready to post a page with hidden journaling...my oldest asked nicely that the particular story stay under wraps...such a useful thing, those flaps for hiding!
I can pass on the sugar, but I need my dark chocolate. It's salt and crunch that are my vices. When we finally get home to stay for awhile, I'm planning a cleanse based on the new Bon Appetit book----no sugar, no white flour, no carbohydrates, lots of water. It's only for two weeks. I think I can do it, and then I should be ready to monitor my portions and stick to healthy eating!
Hidden or not it's still a beautiful page. A lovely combination of whites and lemon. Reminds me of pretty icing...oops that's the sugar theme taking over I think! Well I won't be hiding anything as I don't make any resolutions (that way I can't break them!) but I wish you luck with yours.

LOve the lift the tab journaling....I started out doing lots of it, then realised if my family were lazy sods like me, they'd never find it cos they'd never bother getting those pages out from behind their plastic pockets. So, that meant it's on the front, mostly. And sugar. Good luck! It's a journey I'd reckon. Hope you conquer it:):)!!!
Sugar is addictive - no really, it is a drug like alcohol and heroin, probably more addictive than either. Now here's a thing. There is nothing in chocolate - that's pure chocolate with nothing added - that is addictive but once you add sugar, well that's what your body craves. It makes you sluggish and tired and achey and too much makes you feel like you are coming down with the flu. Sugar rush? not scientifically proven, really, experiments have proved that sugar does not make children hyper-active.

I'm doing a thing where you add a smoothie a day to your normal diet. Easy and yummy!
Another gorgeous layout. I love hidden journalling and I've done a few layouts recently where I've realised, after everything has been stuck down, that I'd like to do some hidden journalling. I guess the lesson is that I need to plan and not just jump in to sticking!

I hear you, sugar is a pest! I have had to go on detox, juicing for days to kick the habit and after the Holidays, well, it's back in full swing. I have been able to replace the "bad sugar" with dried fruits and as long as there are no sweet in the house, I'm good ;)

Good luck with kicking the habit - I find myself vacillating between sugar jags and salt runs. Neither is good for me - and on a really bad days, I don't stick with one or the other, but give into both!!
Love the page, I often think about the journaling last, or too late to do anything like this. More forethought and planning needed!

Good luck with a sugarless January (for starters) I am just addicted to deserts! I can take or leave most other sweet things but oh! a nice pudding. So, for my new year challenge to choose the healthier option...I haven't had one this year x
I too am trying hard to get into better eating habits - not helped by the fact I have a chocolate and crisp vending machine literally outside my office door!
Jelly beans are a favourite here too for me. Very fond of specific flavours anyhow. Wookie has just bought almonds to candy, meant to do that before but it didn't happen over Christmas.
I like the hidden journaling here and with the little window page too.

Jelly beans? Take them or leave them, though sometimes I take a fancy. Chocolate is more my calling, though not Cadbury's. Give me Aldi white chocolate with strawberry pieces any time!
