We're a week into January, so I'm going to check with you first before I say it. Christmas. May I use it one more time? Because here we are experiencing what The (Not So) Small One has called "The Christmas When Nobody Left".
You already know about the student who stayed here for New Year: I made a diary layout about it last week. This week? Uncle Dave didn't go home. I've been so tempted to save the details for our new trick Memorandum Monday, I won't even try to deny it; because dealing with a lost passport definitely counts as something new I've done. But given that it was lost on Monday and the replacement arrived yesterday, I can hardly honestly hold it over to next week.
On the plus side, if Uncle Dave is here, it's more than likely that I'll learn a different something new at the weekend. he might have a good idea for an outing, or maybe two, we could fit in before he leaves next Thursday. That would be - as he was quick to point out - ten days more Dave Time than we had originally been expecting. We aren't complaining! Even if it means cutting down on scrapbooking time so I can catch up on his chat.
I do have a couple of pages I haven't posted before, though, so I have something for today. The first:
is the second of the hidden journaling pages I made for the Gossamer Blue blog last month. It records my feelings on the differences between the photos I see in my mind, and the ones I see on my camera. I know what I want to capture; but sometimes my imagination far outweighs my technical ability.
And the second I made this week with my January kit.

Glad you are getting extra time with those your love. It makes the end of a year special & the beginning even more so. I like the circle hint to journaling on your layout.
I don't think a lost passport would arrive nearly so quickly here in the U.S. - glad you got to sneak some extra time in though!
Oh how nice to "luck into" an extra 10 days. There will always be time to catch up on playing with paper.

Extra time with Uncle Dave is bound to generate a few stories, Sian, even if you have to stockpile them for a bit. I'm sitting here admiring your little blue suitcase in your knitting photo :), as well as that lovely page. I do like the flap with the circle cut out ...
Loving your LOs atm. The juxtaposition between colour and neutrals I reckon works a treat..... & I KWYM with the photo taking. Can get very frustrating at times! AND lucky you with your bro. But I guess not lucky him losing his passport. Enjoy your extra time!!
Wonderful layouts, as usual. The lost passport has its pluses for sure since you're getting extended time with Uncle Dave, but it must have been a bit disconcerting at the beginning. I have quite a passport story to tell, but I've been reluctant to share it to save someone some embarrassment!

That is a lovely way of hiding the journaling. Might have to "pinch" that idea. I'm not fussed about hiding my writing but sometimes it interferes with the design of the page! Im intrigued as to the second story though! Lovely two pages as always x

Oh yes, sometimes my imagination far (FAR!) outweighs my technical ability, too. But your photos are always so lovely and convey a wonderful story!
Oh I so relate to the photo in your head not being the same as the one on your camera. I have to confess that life in my head is not the same as life in reality - my family say I live in Karen's World - but it is a good place to be.

How lovely to have Uncle Dave staying for longer, I bet there has been a lot of frantic searching for the passport though! Two more lovely pages, I scrapped today and forgot all about hidden journalling! Time to leave myself a note I think!
