As Alice: A Page With a Process to Make You Wince

....maybe. It depends. Are you a paper hoarder? or a paper slasher? Can you cut right in and hack a sheet to pieces? or do you like to keep that pattern intact? I'll admit I'm a hoarder. I find it difficult to cut into a whole piece if I just need a tiny corner, or a quick punched heart. So, with this in mind, I decided to challenge myself to take every single sheet of patterned paper in my January Gossamer Blue kits...

From High In The Sky for Gossamer BLue

...that would be these sheets, right here...

and chop them all into quarters. 6x6 all the way! You can find out more on the Gossamer Blue blog

I think this is one of the reasons I took to digi scrapping so strongly - I can use and hoard!! I like the idea of cutting into quarters as a way to use and hoard

I think cutting into the paper is the fun part - but even so, there are those moments of hesitation. I've never cut all the pieces in a kit up at the start, but I have made sure I cut into every piece before I have give up on a kit. The upside to buying paper not in a kit is that you can buy 2! This is a lovely page -off the GB to read more.

Whoa! That is brave. Scary. I couldn't. I've gotten better BUT I still would find it hard :) GO YOU!!!

I used to be a hoarder, then realized I wasn't even using the paper. Now I have no trouble hacking them up for what I need. Off to get the Gossamer Blue site.

I'll admit, I was a horder and part of me still is. But o have so much paper that I need a rethink. So this is the year of layering and cutting in and straight away! X

The first cut is the hardest (if not the deepest!) and I always worry that the piece(s) left won't be the right shape/size for another project. Experience has led me to realise that I can usually adapt leftovers for other pages .... but it I still have to take a deep breath first.

I am having the worlds biggest clear out of my paper hoard at the moment and to that end papers I don't like are in the 'take to the play school' bag and papers that I like but am never going to use I cut into 6 inch squares! When I did scrapbook I would always buy 2 sheets if I really liked it. One to cut and use and one to stroke.

Oh the brutality of it all- slashing, oh Lord (lol)!! I am a paper hoarder & it frightens me to no end - Mr Man is an enabler. I've just taken a break from sorting (again) through my HUGE stash. I must leave the thought behind of, if I use it I don't have it to use. Sian, this may be the start of a 12X12 recovery program - you, in your bravery can lead us all from under the stash.

Yikes... you are brave! Love this page and it is a terrific design for using up smaller sheets.

Definitely a hoarder too ;)
Bravo Sian, your page is beautiful!
I'm off to discover what these 6x6 are all about!
Thank You~

OH so proud of you! Love the layout! I am a kit buster, meaning that I make myself use every single bit of the kit in usually a month. UNLESS of course it's something seasonal that I might need for the following year...and then I allow myself to save a bit. IT is only by this that I am not a paper hoarder! Some of it is so pretty, it's really hard to cut into!

Absolutely love it! I've become a terrible hoarder! I have a pizza box full of papers, although tbf I'm a little busy with kids at the moment!

Another hoarder here...in fact I even worry about using my (ever increasing) off cuts just in case I find an even better project on which to use them! Xx

No not a hoarder any more just not enough time to scrap with it! Looking forward to seeing what you do with the 6x6 squares :)

I use to be a hoarder - I was terrible with new paper that I loved, I couldn't bear to cut it up. But I did a Shimelle class which got me over it - I had to chop up a kit before even thinking about what I was going to do with the paper, it really worked and I think I got 9 layouts out of the kit in the end. Since then I have been much better about chopping into paper. I will hop over to Gossamer Blue and see your blog post there

Wow - what a great challenge to step out of your comfort zone!

I'm a little of both. Sometimes I'm a hoarder and sometimes I'll about use it up.
Great way to push yourself.

I am a little late, but I can see the hoarding instinct is alive and flourishing for most of us! I really like this brightt and full page, and your story about Alice. And the way you used the little bit at the top and bottom to frame it too.

I do love to hoard but if I want to be productive then I'll just chop up a stack of paper in different sizes and layer them up :)

I'm a hoarder after I've cut up the big page - not fussed at all cutting into a 12x12 but cringe over throwing out a scrap that might be useful for a punched heart etc....

I used to have SO much trouble cutting into a page Sian, but after one of Shimelle's courses I managed to overcome that. Yes I'm still a hoarder, but I have learnt that paper goes out of fashion in time, or my taste changes, so better use it than leave it for something special only to have it add to my increasing pile.

I also love using small pieces of paper and was known to go round bins at crops and retreats salvaging scraps that others threw away! I've got over that too! I am overwhelmed by my own collection of scraps and don't need other peoples to add to my hoard - unless I really like them of course! LOL
