Me On Monday

It was a weekend of flowers. A Granny only asked for some houseplants for her birthday, so let's see what we can find weekend. A "mum, my corsage is dying even though I'm keeping it in the fridge" weekend...

...because of course, with Friday off to recover, we've had an extra day on our weekend, of talking about The Formal.

Yes, I took a photo of that wilting corsage, and then we looked back -again - through the phone photos and the FB photos, and my photos, and the ones taken with the ipad by my second shooter: her dad. And when I'd pored over those, I couldn't help going back to find a photo I took just after I'd started scrapbooking. There she is, in the window; and there she is again, how she was on Thursday night. We couldn't stop looking at her.

And then, suddenly, he was here, and she was opening the door, and he was telling her how beautiful she was, and handing over that corsage, and chocolates for me (who knew that was a thing?!), and posing for pictures, and then they left; and we looked at each other and thought..really?

So it has been a morning after the night before weekend. Catching up with the new Fargo, cooking a curry, scrapbooking. Which leaves Me On Monday

letting down the glamour side a little in my new fur lined sneakers. But it's half term, and it's dark, and cold, and blue suede is always good, so a Happy Monday to you!

Last week  Louise H, Ruth, Helena, Rinda, Mary-Lou, Ladkyis, Julia, Fiona, Maggie, Denise, Sandra, Deb, Krafty Karen, Alison, Lizzy, Gail, Cheri, Sheena, Karen, Jess and Eileen all gave us a wave and wished us the best for the week ahead. I'm waving right back. Have a good one!

Wow Sian - your daughter looks so grown up and beautiful. You must be so proud, I bet there was a lump in your throat when she went off to her Prom. And what a thoughtful escort, bringing you chocolates.
I loved your photo of your blue suede shoes, I don't blame you chilling on this Monday morning. It is half term here too, and dark evenings. Time to rest a bit and have a change of pace. Enjoy your week. I am finally joining in, after all my
'I'll do that one day' thinking!

Oh heck. I have just read the other comments and I am relieved I am not the only one with more than one tear in my eye. She does look beautiful and I love the comparison of the two pics from pretty girl to stunning young lady. But it's your words. I know exactly how you are feeling. I like the idea of the chocs and lovely comfy boots too.

Good job all round, to all involved, for making a beautiful girl, for that make-up job, for finding a charming young man, for taking the photos then and now!

And fur lined boots are just the awesomest. I have 2 pairs and, for those others that aren't I have fur/wooly/bobbly insoles. Do you have some? If not ... I'm sending you some! I buy them every year ... they're one of those things that I'm always tempted to buy for *everyone* at Christmas ... because who doesn't want snug feet in winter?

Have a great week ahead. xx

She is just lovely. I hope we get a few more peeks at her - and her shoes? And as an Elvis fan, thumbs up on your blue suede shoes.

Oh Sian, my how stunningly beautiful she is (is it wrong that I have tears in my eyes looking at those two photos of her? They grow up too, too fast: I somehow can't reconcile, in my head, that beautiful young woman with your TSO!!). You must have been one proud Mum and Dad xxxx Helen xx

Wow! She grew up! So is a beauty! Chocolates for you sounds like a wonderful tradition. Wish they did it out in my neck of the woods. ;) Have a great week and I love those sneakers.

What a wonderful look of confidence your young lady has. The then & now window photos are a great capture - it does fly! I hope they had a wondrous time at The Formal. I just read that African Violets are perfect plants for pet owners as they are (the plant) are non toxic to pets. Very nice runners - fur lined, oohh that would be a lovely warm squishy feeling! Happy week ahead.

Beautiful, simply beautiful! Oh my she has grown up so much. I love how you found a picture of her in the same place from a few years ago. Fur-lined sneakers? I've never heard of that but sounds like they would come in handy. Have a nice week. I need to go off and write mine now.

Gosh she looks stunning! You must be so proud of her.

And thank goodness we have found scrapbooking so that we have more than just a few photos to remember them when they were little - we have some lovely stories written down to got with them. What a stunning young lady your T(NS)LO has grown into.
Anything fur-lined in foot ware makes for smelly feet with me - sorry if that is too much information - but they do look lovely :)

Oh my goodness, Sian, how absolutely stunning she looks! Do tell her we all said so :). The pairing of the photos really shows the teenage girl and the woman ... Oh, it gives me shivers down my spine. You must have been so proud, both of you!

PS And in all that teary excitement, I nearly forgot my very first thought - to say 'Happy Birthday!' to your Mum, and please send her my very best wishes. I hope things are going well for her health-wise, and I am full of admiration for her determination to keep her independence as long as possible.

Glad to hear that Granny is having a plant filled birthday - a woman after my own heart. Speaking of hearts, that photo gave a real pang, how did our littles become not-so-littles and then suddenly be grown up?

She does look lovely, glad the corsage survived and the escort was a gentleman.

I like your blue fur lined sneakers too!

Ruth said...

The important bit ... fur lined sneakers? My plantar fasciitis affected poor feet need those!
The serious bit ... TNSSO looked so very beautiful; what a lucky chap her date was. Having seen her grow over these last few years, I feel old. *big sigh*

Oh Sian, how lovely a thing to see. Being beautiful isn't the most important about being a lovely young woman but it certainly is important on your formal/prom night and wow she certainly is, a real beauty. I hope she enjoyed it, I can't help but think of mine and the fun and dancing like mad things to Elton john's Crocodile Rock :-)
