August at Gossamer Blue

It's a new month at Gossamer Blue and a new selection of beautiful kits. I've been scrapbooking holiday photos! I have two pages today, with a third to come on the 15th for the Inspiration Blog Hop, and a post over on the Gossamer Blue blog at the end of the month.

The colours? This month it seems like every design team member found a favourite. There are blues, greens, pops of red, sunny yellows and pinks ..the full gallery is here

On my first page I layered up some journaling cards from the Project Life kit to document a dream. I love Norway so much I daydream about retiring there.

My second page is based on a sketch. This month the wonderful Becky Fleck over at PageMaps invited members of the Gossamer Blue team to scrap along to her sketches and this is what I came up with. Becky's sketches are always an inspiration - she includes photo sizes as a great jumping off point - and there are 12x12 and 8.5x11 maps to follow, with a downloadable pdf to print out and keep close at hand. What's not to love? Click here for the August maps They're well worth a look.

I'm keeping this sketch close by for the rest of the month. I think I'm going to use it again:  the August kits are spread out on my desk and I still have some favourite "picks" to use up. The Fancy Pants letters in Add On 3. the October Afternoon Pillow Puffs in the Main kit, all the Project Life cards..

As always your pages are an inspiration! Funny how you and hubby are thinking of a little boat and looking at water, we are mulling the same idea. I need to make a page about that! Your second layout, I really like the red floral background and that little jar of hearts!!!! Is it a stamp?

On your first layout, I love all of the layered bits. I have a problem with that. I hate to cover things up! I need to get over it. On the second layout, I like pen techniques and journaling around the photos. I always find something interesting in your layouts. I really need to start a list to remember to try some of them!

Okay, I did just start that list! Thanks for the ideas!

Like Barbara, I need to start a list of all your creative ideas! Love the layers on #1 (and the beautiful photo!) I love the colors for the second layout and the paper you used for the border of #2 is fabulous! One of my best friends spent a week in Norway this summer and came back smitten!

Two beautiful pages. Love all the little bits on the first page and the bold frame on the second is terrific. You know it is a good holiday when you come home dreaming about retiring there. I'm off to look at the August sketches at PageMaps.

Both pages are super cute Sian. I love the water theme, the anchors, the fish. It's gorgeous. Would your boat be big enough to squeeze in a scrap desk :)

Thank you! I found in my stash a jam jar stamp so I am going to try and recreate - not a confident stamper but by doing is how we can expertise (right?) (lol)

That's exactly how I feel about Scotland. Except - I'd go tomorrow - sod waiting to retire :P

These pages are beautiful Sian, I love the splats and the layering.

I've never been to Norway, but your layouts and photos certainly make me want to visit.

Lovely pages with great photos. I should use sketches more because I love them as a starting point but I always forget! x

I've never been to Norway but it sounds and looks beautiful. Wonderful pages as always Sian, I hope you have the choice to retire to Norway with a boat one day, if that's your dream.

2 really delightful pages Sian. We only saw the Oslo part of Norway so more is definitely on our to do list.
