Me On Monday

It was a craft fair visiting, plant buying, Grand Prix watching, jam tart eating (we always have jam tarts at this time of year..why do they say "Spring"?) kind of a weekend.

And a sock heel turning, bunk bed dismantling, making and unmaking weekend. A holiday planning, discussions round the kitchen table weekend. A back to school on Monday weekend

But it's exam term now, and this time last year we started the tradition of a Sunday night drivetime: as a kind of buffer between the studying of a Sunday afternoon and the getting up for school the next morning. We all pile into the car and go for a mystery tour before heading home for some Sunday evening TV. We started out last night and we ended up at the barge you can see in the top picture. The light was beautiful and it fitted with my other weekend photos. It was a good trip.

Me on Monday?

Hiding my guilty look! Yes: I couldn't bear to leave the Granny squares staring accusingly out of their bag any longer. Today I'm putting down the socks and taking on the task of sorting my squares. As you can see, I have the odd loose end or two to darn in..

Last week Lea, Helena, Julia, Eileen, Deb, Cheri, Krafty Karen and Alison all gave us a wave. Go on, wish 'em a good week!

And I'd like to ask everyone to keep one of our number in mind this week. Some of you will know Gail from Storytelling Sunday, and she waves on a Monday when she gets the chance too. Please cheer her on this week as she faces surgery and radiation treatment. We're behind you every step of the way Gail!

Lovely post, Sian! Yes, jam tarts do sort of say 'Spring' don't they?! What a great idea for a Sunday night drive, and your end point just lovely. What a striking necklace you're wearing! Wishing you well with those Granny squares.....and thinking of Gail and sending her positive energy....Helen xx

love how colour coordinated your weekend was. I associate jam tarts with autumn as jam jars are emptied to make way for the new seasons jam - but delicious at any time of year

Lovely snaps, Sian. And I like the idea of the exam buffer - what a good reason for a Sunday drive. Saying a prayer for Gail and waving back this Monday.

It's those final little bits that I hate doing, I'm on the border of my ripple blanket now.

I like the idea of your Sunday drive. I have a feeling that jam tarts will be finding their way into my basket on my shopping trip this afternoon! Good luck with those granny squares :)

I'm slinking back quietly by the back door, as I've been missing in action for sometime now.

I will certainly say a prayer for Gail, and send her good wishes and vibes her way.

I hope you're well, and well, I can see you've not lost your amazing creativity ... those granny squares look amazing xx

I think you have a great new tradition going there. What a nice way to ease in to the week. Your granny squares made me cringe because I'm facing the same mess. I told myself that I would weave in the yarns each time I finished one---before adding the next color. I didn't and now I'm sorry about that.

Oh just look at all those ends - I wonder if you could draft in Little E for a sewing lesson to help? Maybe not ...
What a lovely idea of a Sunday Springtime drive to break up the studying - not long to go now!
Will definitely be thinking of Gail and wishing her a full recovery.

Sunday drive time is a great idea! It's exam term here too for my eldest - good luck to yours x So pleased with the Hamilton win, even if it was behind the safety car!

Now that's a beautifully bright weekend! I'm not envying you dealing with those granny squares though :). That's a great tradition to start, and I am sure the NSSO will really appreciate her Mum and Dad's care and kindness. Thinking of Gail too - nice of you to give her a boost of friendship :).

Cheering Gail on - not an easy road ahead for her... But easier with good friends to support her, I'm sure:):) that barge photo is as lovely as those end darnings to this UnSewer look unlovely! Good luck with that. My FAVEST sweet? Lemon tarts..... YUUUM!!!!!

Adding Gail to my prayer list. What a wonderful tradition to start. I remember Sunday drives when we lived in Kansas, but they didn't continue once we moved to Ohio. Wonder why?

Sounds like you have had another lovely weekend. I don't envy you the job of getting all those ends stitched in. I'm waving back at you!!

I'm thinking all those loose ends would have me running for a new project. I admire your perseverance.

I so admire your knitting skills and wish I could learn. Love your Granny Squares and your photos are awesome. It's Tuesday now, and I'm trying to finish a layout and start folding laundry. I think it's a great idea to go on a drive after studying as a buffer. I love your Monday posts, I read every week. Michelle t

That sounds like a wonderful weekend Sian. I don't envy you sewing in all those ends. Thank you so much for including me in your post and for your kind words and thoughts.
Thank you everyone so much for your thoughts and prayers. I don't know when I feel like getting on here afterwards but I'll ask John to let Sian know how it went.
I won't be posting next Monday as that is the day.

Gail: that would be great. We'll all be thinking about you

Michelle: Sorry, I don't have your email to reply personally, but I want to say thank you for your lovely comment. Much appreciated!

I like the sound of the Sunday night drive around ... a good way of bringing the weekend to a close.

What a lovely idea - the Sunday night drivetime. It's good to have traditions especially ones like this. The barge does fit well with your photos, and for me anything connected with the water is good but a boat or barge gets an extra thumbs up.
Good lucky with sewing all the loose threads, you have such patience and your squares look beautiful. h
How kind that you mentioned Gail and I'd like you join you in sending my thoughts and well wishes. Good luck Gail, I hope it all goes well!

I love the idea of the Sunday evening drive!! I'll be keeping Gail in my prayers on Monday - thanks for keeping us updated.

I love how we are all so different. I would, and do, love the job of sewing in the threads from knitting/crocheting and tying off the threads from sewing! You had a very colour co-ordinated weekend and the idea of a mystery tour is wonderful.

Can you sew in those loose ends whilst watching racing?

Exams were much discussed here over the weekend with current uni students being empathised with by those who survived.

Thanks for keeping up updated about Gail too.
