Me On Monday

It was a starting early on Friday kind of a weekend. And aren't they just the best?

A jumping in the car kind of a weekend. A trip to see Little E  (he made me an Easter basket! Thanks, Little E! ) on Friday. A journey to the airport to pick up our boy on Saturday. A longer drive to cook Granny an Easter dinner yesterday. So it's been a family weekend. A hot cross bun eating, Easter pinata bashing, tooth crunching, old church visiting, spring flower admiring, sunshine seeking, roast turkey and lamb preparing, book buying, fast knitting, advice seeking, news gathering weekend. And, best of all, it's not over yet!

We have a couple more days before everyone starts back to work. I'm guessing there'll be some more chocolate eating, hard boiled egg rolling (that's an Easter tradition round here), movie watching and trip planning.

And Me on Monday? I've finished knitting my first ever pair of socks:

And I can't wait to start another pair. It's thoroughly, completely, utterly addicting: working round and round, with those stripes appearing magically in front of my very steel pointed tips. Now that I've seen how it goes I'm on a mission. I was warned this would happen. I want to knit a truly beautiful pair: neat, neat stitches, an exquisitely turned heel. That crochet blanket might be on the back burner for a while yet..

..if I start today, maybe I'll have another pair to try on next Monday?

Last week Helena, Eileen, Miriam, Susanne, Krafty Karen, Deb, Barbara, Gail, Doris and Alison all gave us a wave. Go on, go wish 'em a great week! And have a good one wherever you are too. The sun is shining here. Time to get back into the car for another trip..

Those socks do look fab. And family holiday weekends are the best - we just enjoyed one ourselves, but we are back to the grind this Monday morning. Have a great week.

Beautiful socks! What an achievement. As someone who gets cold feet in the winter, woollen socks should clearly be on my to=do list. That sounds like a truly delightful weekend, full of fun and family. Book-buying? Oh, envy here!

Sounds like a great weekend especially with a basket from Little E.! Your socks look amazing. I knew you would be great at it. You sound like my sister, she is so addicted. Me... not so much. ;) I really need to get back to that second sock but my crochet and scrapping is calling my name.

Wow! What an awesome [& continuing] Easter you're having....loved the collage of photos...so bright and fresh looking. Love the socks. Hate to say that. But I DO! Not the knitting of said garmet [is a pair of socks a garment???]....but the finished stripes. Yum. Why do we call them 'garmets' anyways???!!!

garments...sorry.....

LOVE those socks! We had a lovely Easter weekend, too. I'm the only one here who likes hot cross buns, but I got some good ones at a little bakery in Evanston, and discovered Adam likes them as well.

Ohhhhhh those socks are divine! What a gorgeous choice of colours. I once had a knitted pair of socks but they were so itchy I couldn't stand them for more than a few minutes. Happy Easter xxx

Congratulations on finishing your first pair of socks! They look great and you did a wonderful job of having the stripes match up on both socks. Can't wait to see your next pair.
