Crochet Catch Up

It's been a birthday cake eating, physics revising, vitamin buying, tile grouting, comfy trouser finding, too cold for barbecue-ing, Ikea shopping, knitting planning, woolly tights wearing, Polaroid camera testing, Florida dreaming, picture framing, mirror hanging, slug pellet-ing, flower watering, butcher block oiling, snooker watching and...

...crochet marathon-ing

kind of weekend here. She says it's long, but not long enough.. So I'm going to keep going for a bit yet with that raindrops stitch pattern from Attic24 That will mean buying extra balls of wool - so far I've done very nearly 12x100g - but I needed to get more for the border anyway. I'm thinking turquoise for that. Or maybe yellow. Or..

If it's a Bank Holiday with you, I hope it's warmer than it is here and that you get a chance to do something you enjoy. If it isn't? Have a good week!

I think turquoise would overpwer the whole thing while yellow would finish it perfectly and still allow the other colours to shine properly. It is so lovely and I want to try the pattern NOW please! It's the bobbles right?

It's Cinco de Mayo here. Just a reason to eat Mexican food! Love the afghan. Turquoise is my vote!

Wow! That's a work of art. Tough decision on the border though. There's part of me that thinks a dark edge would show it off beautifully! But any of the colours will look fab.

looks lovely, I'm knitting a cushion in that pattern.

Gorgeous! I agree turquoise would be a lovely border. Sounds like a busy, busy weekend. Still cold here, but it's supposed to warm up by the end of the week. I'm so ready!

It looks great. Where did you find the pattern? I need to get back to crocheting. Could still be warmer here but some days we do get into double digits. :) I am so ready for it to warm up.

A weekend for getting all those little jobs done. I'm watching everyone do them around me :) at least the sun is shinning here. Fab blanket...turquoise border is good x

My eye doesn't know what to admire first: that very grown-up looking quilt holder, the beautifully striped crocheted quilt itself, or that gloriously textured wood fencing! Hoping you fit in everything you need to. Up here, what started out as 'let's give the summer house a quick coat of woodstain while it's not raining' has turned into a floor-replacing, moss-removing, roof-fixing marathon!

this is gorgeous Sian!! Love love it, and definitely want to try something that big too! I would go with a lighter color for the border since there's already quite powerful color in there! have fun!!
oh also, do you use Ravelry ? i might be addicted

A wonderful labour of love there - I agree with Helena that as turquoise already dominates, that yellow would be the way to go.

Oh wait - it was Ladykis - stupid me!

Luckily it's been very warm here and we've had a lovely weekend.
The crochet is looking gorgeous....and very long!

It's Cinco de Mayo here. But we don't get the day off. And it's nice out.

I suggest a black border for contrast with the bright colors.

Such a FUN blanket!! (Of course, I think yellow for the border would be nice!) No holiday here, but we just returned late last night from a four-day trip to Pennsylvania so I've had a day at home unpacking & catching up on laundry, mail, etc.

On first glance - in the thumbnail photo in my blog reader - I thought TNSSO was wearing a slash neck crocheted top! Not that that wouldn't have been lovely too [maybe not the full length look though ... overpowering no?]

Am slightly envious of the FLorida dreaming part ... not so much the slug pellets...

We went to an early morning car boot sale - I was hunting papery treasures and indeed found some - and all before lunch. Then after lunch I made a curtain. Today's task? Make *another* one. Call me traditional ... but I think it helps with the balance of the window.

Good to hear you've had your own celebration - even if exams have postponed the rest. And you've had cake have you? No cheese? ;-)

No bank holiday over here, but there has been a little storm door window replacing, carpet cleaning, rummaging sale going, paint choosing, light fixture changing, band concert watching, too busy for sitting and reading weekend going on over here. Have a good week. (I vote yellow - like the sun, which has blessed us with 80 degree temps - our first taste of summer.)

Gorgeous blanket :) She's going to love snuggling under that!

We had lovely weather and had a picnic in the park :)

I am so impressed with your patience and crochet skills Sian. That is a beautiful blanket, and I think I would make a turquoise border as I like frames with darker colours... but then again... yellow might lift it. Mmm I'm glad it's not me making the decision!

Very impressive Sian! I would go with a warm color myself...

Stunning - especially TNSSO - She looks like a model tempting someone to buy that so very beautiful blanket! I would just buy!!! Lovely Sian - I haven't crochet for years - - it was sooooo very fashionable when I was in my teens , I had a crochet dress - and still have one of the shawls I made - and I think I would go with a yellow border, but am glad it isn't me choosing!! Jen x

Turquoise would be perfect! It seems I'm not alone in thinking that TNSSO looks like a 1970s Crochet Weekly model!!

We're well into spring here. I know I"m in the minority, but I would go with yellow for the border. Sounds like a great weekend at your place.

That blanket is gorgeous, I am a huge attic24 fan here too.

A beautiful creation and I vote for a turquoise border only because I love turquoise. ;)

Laughing with you about the afghan...I spent many, many hours crocheting an afghan that turned out to be way larger and heavier than I ever expected. We were, at that time, a one car family so I would often tell my husband to stop by the store on his way home to pick up yet another skein of yarn. Everyone complained about how heavy it was, but it was the most popular blanket in the house during the cold winter months.
