Round here Right Now

Round here right now I'm:

reading An Officer and a Spy by Robert Harris. A fictionalised account of the Dreyfus Affair

looking forward to the big Spring School Concert, and to wearing my new dress.

too plain? I don't buy a dress very often, so it has to be something lasting. And I'll probably put my parka over it, for added 1980's

wondering when DIY tiling will extend to DIY electrics (and DIY grouting) Yellow tape gives a cheerful touch to the kitchen, though. And at last we have the tiles I've been eyeing for ages!

enjoying a new source of iphone photography tips iphone Photography School

eating milk bottles. What an excellent confectional invention they are! But I suspect they are made from something really addictive. Worryingly addictive. Plus, they are coated in flour-y, sugar-y stuff, so I leave a guilty trail wherever I go and then everyone says Sian, have you been eating milk bottles again? You've got stuff on your laptop, down your sweater, on your face..

smiling with satisfaction (or maybe just relief) that I have unearthed a pack of page protectors from underneath a pile of boxes and put away a stack of pages. I added more journaling and some extra ink splats and stitching to a few. And I like them more now. Sometimes I err on the side of caution when I'm making a layout for a magazine or someone else, just in case it all goes wrong. It's been interesting to take older ones you've all seen and add private journaling or more personal touches. Adding another layer helps you see how to ground what's already there. Oh, but here's a warning. Maybe you've already discovered how washi tape likes to unstick itself? I've had to re attach it on lots of pages. I'm using the double sided tape I ordered from Affixit Craft. Seems like good stuff.

remembering the 80's (again) after using some Body Shop White Musk bath bubbles belonging to The (Not So) Small One. That scent will always say first job to me.

and finally waving to several returning blog friends whose comments have been very welcome this week. It's good to see you!

Have a good Tuesday everyone

oh yes I stay away from milk bottles as I know they exist in large numbers and never as 1s. I've been finding washi unpredictable - seems to adhere fabulously to some surfaces for ages, but not others

Ah, I was a White Musk girl too, as oppose to a Dewberry one. There was a definite split in our school!
I've wondered about the longevity of washi tape, knowing how easy it is to peel off, if you get it wrong.

PS I like the dress. A blank canvas to be dressed up/down in lots of different ways.

Bags of Haribo are my downfall :(
The colour of your dress reminds me of a dress I had when I was at Primary School (which was the late '70s) ~ don't forget to be photographed wearing it!

Like Fiona says, the dress is a nice basic. Some jewelry, a scarf, and depending on whether you wear it with leggings or stockings, heels or boots - it can be so many different things! I'm not much of a dress person myself so anything I buy would have to be versatile.

Reading Fiona's comment...it was the Dewberry I loved....shame that one hasn't lasted.
My downfall is shrimps....remember those....luckily there aren't many places you can buy them now!!

I'm not fond of any of the Haribo sweets - like Dumbledore I have a fondness for lemon sherbets. I liked Body Shop Annie perfume too.

I like the dress, I'm not a dress buyer or wearer so won't offer fashion advice :)

Love your new dress and can't wait to see you in it. I have no idea what milk bottles are, but I'm assuming they are some sort of candy. I can see how you would leave evidence behind! Lastly, I was getting so frustrated with washi tape and it's lack of "stick" until I decided that I'd stop worrying about it and let it go. Now I just say it looks more like shabby chic!

I can't believe you haven't replaced that yellow tape with washi tape !
I trust there will be a photo of the debut appearance of the dress, with or without parka ;-)
I can almost taste the creaminess of those milk bottles but I have discovered a new favourite in Waitrose - lemon meringue chews. Oh my, they are wonderful.

Now that's an elegant dress in my favourite grey :). Hoping you get lots of wear from it ... Not tried the milk bottles - the picture you paint of the incriminating evidence made me smile :). Yes, it must be tricky judging what's needed for making pages for publication; nice to hear they get another round of loving attention. I'm sure there's a Before And After post in there ...

How funny, I went into the Body Shop the other day and had a crafty squirt of White Musk...oh the memories it brought back :D

can't use most perfumes so I only ever smelled White Musk on other people. I had a dress.... I must look in the wardrobe and see if I still do. I love your dress, it is perfect for so many occasions and can be ornamented so easily when you need to put on the bling
I don't "get" washi tape. I never found anywhere I wanted it to be so I don't think I have used it. I am so boring with my pages.

I love milk bottles too and in fact any pic'n'mix. It is very satisfying to have pages in protectors and in an album. Where they should be.

I like the dress Sian, it will be very versatile and can be dressed up or down. Pass a milk bottle please!

Hmmm...never heard of "milk bottles" before but they do sound dangerous. I like your dress! The solid color lends itself to a lot of accessory options. Enjoy wearing it!!!

No dress is ever too plain--I agree with Cheri and I prefer a dress that can be dressed up or dressed down by changing the accessories (or the sweater or jacket.) Yours is a beautiful color. Never heard of milk bottles before--what flavor?

Now I wonder if my milk bottles taste like your milk bottles?

It's a lovely dress! I have the perfect orange necklace to go with it, or maybe a blue scarf?

I like the dress, especially the neckline, it's very 'you'
I'm not the most fashion conscious person so no advice from here:) I'm a cheesy biscuit kind of girl so your milk bottles are safe from me.

Love these update posts. Looks like you have lots on the go. Love your new tiles. The Milk Bottles look yummy. We have Milk Duds that are super addictive. Sad when you get the odd one though that never got that sweet creamy filling injected into the centre.

Oh yum milk bottles. I used to by them by the penny in our school tuck shop! Happy memories! I love how a scent can bring back so many memories. magical!

I'm with you on the dress. Plain is equal to flexible as far as I'm concerned. Add a necklace or two (one long, one short) or a long scarf so you can toss the tail over your shoulder...

ahh yes milk bottles. The boys don't like them so guess who they give them too...love em. I found that with washi tape too...so i stitch over mine mostly and it stays put then x x

I like the dress - it's so flexible. Thanks for the info on washi tape.
