When a Photo Stops being a Photo..

..and starts being a card..

So, taking an idea and running sticking with it, yesterday I took some time out from the party preparations going on round here and I made some more things with my little heart biscuit photos.

Because I built my first card on a paper bag (it's here), I decided to see what other bases I could use for tags and the like, so my first one is indeed - on a tag. I stamped a phrase straight onto the photo with black staz-on ink and a little stamp from Citrus Twist: haven't tried it before, but i'll definitely be doing it again.

The second one is built on a 6x4 journaling card. I thought it would make a nice postcard as a change from a card. Again, that little stamp is from Citrus Twist.

And the third is a smaller journaling card: a gift tag with a clothes peg ready to pin to a present:

I am actually off to wrap some presents now, for a coming-of-age party for a boy man you all know. There are lots of things I could say about him; but I don't think he'd like me to post any of them. So instead I'll hurry off to help his sister ice his cake. Those candles are calling..

Happy Sunday!

I remember my eldest son turning 18. He had moved to live with his father, that being closer to work, and suddenly he was in my kitchen telling me he had applied to the army. He went in just before his 19th birthday and his brother followed 10 weeks later, just two weeks after his own 18th birthday. Such a moment to see them so young and them thinking they are never going to be more grown up than they are at that moment. Hug him close, so that you can stand back and let him go.

Happy birthday to your boy, hope he has a brilliant day and celebrates in style. I have just read Ladkyis' comment and sincerely hope that he doesn't spring any surprises like that!
Enjoy the cake - I'm sure there's a page just waiting to be made from today's events!

Happy Birthday to the Tall One! It's hard to believe, but mine will be 30 this month! He's coming home for his birthday, though, so we'll be able to celebrate it in style. Love the cards and they are making the wheels turn in my head about ways to use photographs for cards!

Your cards are lovely. I especially love the blue one. I hope you have a great birthday celebration. It's so funny that the "tall one" would rather not be mentioned in your blog. Around here, the girls are constantly asking "grammy, are you going to put that on your blog?" Difference between girls and boys---I guess. I hope you have a happy day.

Awwhh , they don't realise that it is also quite a big deal for parents too when they reach these milestones xxx

Hi Sian,

I hope the birthday celebration is fun and full of love! I love what you created using your photo. Thanks for the tip of stamping directly on the photo - I hadn't thought of that.

Hugs,
Kay

Many happy returns to the Tall One. What is it about seam binding that makes everything it's used on look even lovelier? Definitely an idea worth running/sticking with :o)

I've loved what you've made with your photos.

I started making cards using photos during last summmer when I had some left over from scrapping projects. I've thought about making more with all those less-than-perfect prints which look worse than they did on the screen before I printed them! In fact, I keep a whole file of those photos on my shelf[and try not to weep at the thought of how much they've cost me in ink!!] so I really *should* do *somethign* with them!

I'd planned to blog some ... sometime ... so, if/when I do, I'll make sure to link back to your examples too!

p.s: many happy returns to the birthday boy/man.

p.p.s yes, I understood your comment on my blog perfectly. Thank you. x

With all those party celebrations for the Tall One, I'm amazed you've had time to do anything else! I love all your cards but perhaps especially the delicacy of your third one. Very inspirational :).

Lovely crafting. I bet you throw a great party too - just the right mix of pretty versus manly for the occasion?

Your cards are so pretty Sian! I have only used a photo on a card a couple of times but I love the idea (and I should try it again) - Happy birthday to the boy/man or as we say here "young adult"!

Have I missed the biscuits? Will check back in a min as I've been so busy I'm well behind with reading!
These are cute and quirky - very you!

Happy Birthday to TTO :o)

Happy birthday to the young man. 18! Sian, that is scary for me, because it is my turn in not so many months.

Hope the cake was as tasty as these look :) Trilby turned 22 yesterday, definitely didn't want a cake or anything else - went out with friends instead.

Ewok turns 21 this year - still amazes me.

These look lovely too, I especially like the one with the sentiment stamped onto the photo.

And a big Happy Birthday to the Tall One. I can't actually remember my 18th... I may have had a drink too many. But I did grow up in Essex, so that was the done thing! x
