Fixed The Newel Post

So, how's the Christmassy spirit going? Round here, we're definitely starting to feel it. Bit of shopping yesterday morning; then at lunchtime we sent The Tall One into the attic for the boxes of decorations. There is even talk of a High In The Sky Staff Christmas Dinner. That would be me taking everyone out for some chicken, to a new place the leaflet for which dropped through the letterbox round 5pm on Thursday. At a low, hungry moment.

But what really makes it Christmas 'sky-side is - The Griswolds

National Lampoons Christmas Vacation. Once we've watched that we know that Christmas is just around the corner. It's a love-it-or-hate-it kind of movie, I guess. Maybe not for everyone? I don't know. I think it's got a bit of something we can all recognise.

We've all held our breath and hoped the lights switch on; we've all bought a Christmas tree that's too big; we've all coped with unexpected guests; and we've all been driven a little crazy by the festivities sometime, somewhere. It rings true each and every year we watch it. We know it off by heart, pretty much, and we all have our favourite lines. So, we get out the boxes of decorations, we put on the movie and we start to unpack years of Christmas. And all the time, we wait for someone to shout - Fixed The Newel Post! If you haven't seen the film it'll mean nothing. But it means Christmas to us. And that's why I've made a page about it.

Happy Sunday!

Hi Sian ~ Well, Christmas has finally arrived here in Arizona too, with the set up of our tree yesterday. Now I just need to decorate it and get rid of all the boxes stacked in our living room.

I thought about this movie yesterday as Doug was on our roof putting lights on our house. He had one strand almost done when we thought to plug it in, only to find half of it wouldn't light. ;o) oops.

{Super cute layout!}

Lovely layout to capture a fun tradition, it starts for me when George Michael sings Last Christmas!

That movie is a classic! And if you ever wonder what actor my dear hubby looks like - well, pretty much a lot like Chevy Chase in that movie!

What a great thing to do a layout about! I haven't seen that movie in ages but it is going to be our movie night movie next Saturday. This week we watched Santa Claus 3.

Christmas Vacation is one of our family favorites too. Poor Clark---he tries so hard! I think there's a little of that in all of us at Christmas.

I can feel the warmth and love of family in your post and just envision all four of you at work! Our tree is decorated! Henry, his girlfriend and one of her friends did the honors the other night. I loved their giggles and happy faces and was so happy they like hanging out at our place. I have one more Nativity set to take out and arrange. Then hope to write some Christmas cards today.

Great post today Sian, and chalk one up for scrapping another bit of in-the-sky history! The spirit is flowing freely here too. We get a double-dose of Christmastime fun today - Sunday School childrens program this morning and high school band Christmas concert tonight. Tis the season.

I haven't seen that film in YEARS! But I do love it! My Christmas film is Scrooged, and my Christmas isn't complete without it :)

Our tree went up today... starting to feel a lot like Christmas...

I've never seen the movie! It's good to have traditions like these though. We always watch Muppets Christmas Carol!

I love your page - especially the gems! x

Oh yes, it is definitely Christmassy here! I had a good weekend with some friends and catching up a bit on my list of things to do! There are more festivities planned for this week and who knows what else!

Never seen that one - no real reason why, perhaps I'll get around to finding a copy somewhere. OOOh just thought we're all hooked up to iTunes now bet it's on there to rent.

Princess had watch <5 movies on the list of Advent things - we've watched two so far (one per Sunday) Grinch is always first, the animated one I remember from my childhood, second was Muppet Family Christmas, 5 will be Muppet Christmas Carol, the ones in between? Under negotiation - made a page about our Grinch watching last year, made 'em all write a journaling card about the movies this year....

I've never seen that one but I'm pretty sure I saw the cast of it in a commercial yesterday. My must not miss Christmas movie is the original version of Miracle on 34th Street while John's is A Christmas Carol with Alistair Sim.

Great topic to scrap about! We have our favorite lines from holiday movies. Right now, it's Elf and A Christmas Story.

Christmas Vacation is a favorite around here, too, although we haven't gotten to it yet. We've watched several, including It's a Wonderful Life! And I'm trying to remember to answer my phone with "Buddy the Elf, what's your favorite color?" when friends call this month!

I must confess I've never seen this, but it sounds fun. Your layout is fab and we all have separate 'things' that are Christmas for us..Coca Cola (youngest)advert, playing Christmas songs on Radio 2 (himself)and me-seeing the lights go up outside the office where i work

That is the favourite film in this house too and now I've read this post I want to watch it again! :)

I can never tire of watching that film, it's always good to curl up and watch something entertaining. It's a Wonderful Life is a film I associate with Christmas. It is timeless and I love the good feel factor. Not very Christmassy here yet - there has been lots going on and we are in the midst of decorating and a big project. But hopefully we can decorate soon!

This is not a film I know but I've put it on The List; your wood grain paper is perfect for the subject!
