I'm a Calendar Girl

I've never been a Calendar Girl before! But when Annie the Felt Fairy asked me if I'd like to act as hostess for the November Monthly Makes, I jumped at the chance. So I'm Miss November!

You'll have seen my Monthly Makes popping up through the year, and the year before, when Annie started her Monthly Make campaign.2012 has been a tough one for our Mistress of Making; and I have so much admiration for the way she has handled everything life has thrown at her - without a pinch of self pity, just a healthy handful of dark humour. I'm proud to help her out this month; and I'll be checking out the other makes on blogs and in the flickr group. It's not too late to join in! Make something, take a picture, add it to the group. It's that simple.

November is going to be busy; and I'm hoping that I won't have to come back and add these cards as my Make.

After I'd used some of the skull fabric on my layout last week, I decided to take the same basic idea and turn the Pink Paislee frames (also from the Quirky kit) into cards. It's a twist on a card idea I spotted on the Pink Paislee blog and pinned to my Sweet Scrapbooking Pinterest board

The second one, with its "captured" motif got me thinking along a sheriff theme; so I made a badge with some ribbon and echoed it with a sunburst cut with the Slice. I spotted I had a left over piece of pink with a cut already made in it, so I used it to line the inside:

And that's me for today. All I have to do is remind you that next Sunday it's Storytelling Sunday time. Yes, really! So get thinking - for a theme how about "It was a dark and stormy night.."
But, of course, as always, stories on any subject at all are very welcome.

I was wondering what kind of calendar girl you meant....! This is a very good kind :) Love your cards, I must show them to The Tomboy later, they're very much her kind of thing!

Oh such great cards! I am ready for Story telling sunday. I actually have two stories but need photographs for both so I will try to get rid of these flu symptoms and get clicking!!

The minute I see the words Calendar Girl I'm afraid I immediately think of the quote from the film 'We're going to need considerably bigger buns' ;-)
I've never checked out that blog before - but have had a quick look and will definitely be back to check it again in the future.
Good luck Miss November!

Title aside, somehow I knew there wasn't a pin-up photo in this post. Fun and funky cards - (cute staging too). I already have my story for next Sunday ready and the layout is done too - nothing dark and stormy though.

I've really enjoyed the "monthly make" challenge and I've kept on track. Looking forward to this month as well. Will probably be a Gratitude journal. Hmmmm. . . thinking on the theme for Storytelling Sunday.

It was a dark & stormy night will probably be perfect for me come Sunday. Though I hope it's just 'stormy' and not 'dark' as well.

How exciting - I don't believe I've ever known a calendar girl before!

Your cards are great! Now, I need to think about a dark & stormy night.

I am sure you'll find time to make something else as well, Sian - your talents are extensive! Wonderfully striking colour scheme and I like (what I think is) the stitched frame.

*love* the skulls:) Very 'day of the dead' and very 'in' right now. Even the dancers on strictly were 'day of the dead' made up.

Love the color combo on these cards, and the skulls are fabulous! I'm hoping none of us in Sandy's path will have a current story for Sunday! We're usually too far west to get more than a bit of extra rain, but this time they're predicting quite a storm even here.

Just popping in to see what you have been up to and find you have become a Calendar Girl in my absence. Glad to see you are not posing by a piano but rocking out your monthly makes!
Such colourful cards, beautifully presented.
Will try and join in SS, if I can only put the baby down long enough to write...

Love your cards. They would be perfect for that difficult to make for teen group. I think I did a Halloween story last year, so will go with something else this time. Looking forward to it as always.

So have you announced your new calendar girl status to the family? Good luck with TTO's form too - I'm informed revision has been going on since September as there are now less than two months. Chores still happened well mostly :)

I've enjoyed seeing your monthly makes and put that tentatively on my 2013 pile of possibilities.

A dark and stormy night huh? Hmm... I'll get my thinking cap on.

Great makes with that fabric! Its the kind of stuff I would never have considered buying but I love what you've done with it and now if I saw it I would buy it! Congrats on Miss November.
