Scrapbooking Saturday, Storytelling Sunday

Doing anything nice for National Scrapbooking Day? I'm going to be out and about, spending time with the family, saving the sticking for later. I might collect a story or two to put in the gorgeous new notebook very sent by Ruth for that very purpose. Thanks Ruth!

And I'll certainly be thinking about a piece I found in the paper recently:

Let me take you to the British Psychological Society Conference in London. No, wait - it's completely connected to scrapbooking. Claudia Hammond, who is publishing a new book Time Warped gave a paper on what psychologists call The Holiday Paradox. I think we scrapbookers would call it - making memories last. When we look back at things, so the theory goes, our perception of time, of how long a thing lasts, is based on how many individual memories we created in that time. So, if you go on holiday and do lots of new things you enjoy and take lots of pictures and remember it all, you can make a week long break feel in your head like it lasted much much longer...isn't that what we've been saying for years?

So,  make memories, stretch time, make the most of it all..

...and, with that in mind, I'd like to remind you that it's Storytelling Sunday tomorrow. See you there?

I'm all ready to go for tomorrow .. I am afraid I have spent INSD cleaning the house, sometimes you have to do what you have to do!

I could not agree more with that article - I have a great quote, that is on a canvas tucked away in a box, which encapsulates that exact thought - can't wait to unpack that one!

That notebook was just made for you!!! I agree with the 'stretching Time' theory whoeheartedly & isn't is totally what scrapbooking is all about?!! I'm joing in with a NSD on-line crop at BPC today, but it doesn't kick off till 5pm UK time, so I'm doing laundry now & will probably be pulling an all-nighter!! :D

Love the notebook! I'm headed off to a day crop and then will probably check out the BPC online crop tomorrow (it will be archived they said!). Unfortunately where I'm cropping doesn't have wifi.

I totally agree with that article....scrapbooking my cruise holiday at the moment is like reliving it all over again....and whenever we want cheering up we look at our Florida holiday album.

I like that notebook! And I remember where the quote comes from too! It will be nice to see what Stories you manage to jot down in there - I'm sure you'll share many of them.

Storytelling Sunday seems to have come round very fast. I have been so busy and hardly blogged at all recently.
Not sure what I will write about - still thinking...
But I will be Reading, for sure!

That's a lovely notebook. What a thoughtful gift from Ruth. I agree with the article, the other evening we took advantage of the weather and drove out to cook dinner in the camper. Such a simple thing to do with the family and it felt like the day stretched into a weekend. And we have some lovely photos and memories too!

Determinedly didn't do much computer stuff or anything work related today - scrapbooked instead. Was lovely. Well, made three cards but I have b'days to celebrate.

About to write my SS story :)

I had a great national scrapbook day. I spent 4 hours in my room, organizing, putting kits together and getting ready for my class this week. I ran 3 loads of wash, made potato salad for our family BBQ today, went to Mass and then to a friends for dinner and poker. I won $2.35---Yippee!

Today I'm hoping to make a layout if I can tear myself away from all the stories!! At least that's the plan until the gang arrives!
