My page today is kind of a prequel
I was looking out a couple of photos for June's Storytelling Sunday and I found their companion. A picture of my little brother and sister in the dressing up outfits they decided on while I was getting ready for - no, sorry, you'll have to wait for that bit.
My little sister became Mary Mary Quite Contrary in her 1970's long party dress of the prettiest blue I have ever seen. And our little brother? He was a swashbuckling pirate in a pair of very large wellingtons.
That's the first story, recorded right on the back of my page. The second story is the tree. The willow, there in the background. It had to be cut down some weeks later and our garden lost its magic for me for ever after.
I marked its passing with some branches cut with my Slice. Lots of Crate Paper Pretty Party on this one and an older sheet of Bazzill Basics as a background. I'm loving white as a starting point right now - but that little bit of added pattern feels more me!
Have a great Thursday!

Sweet page.
The huuuuge garden behind us (that I consider MY garden seeing as it takes up the majority of my view and we only have a teeny tiny garden ourselves. That's fair, right?) Has a beautiful, beautiful willow and last year they pruned it right back almost to the trunk. I could've cried. How dare they? It's started growing back again now but still looks a bit sad and bedraggled. I think willows are my favourite tree in the world - I'd love a garden big enough to have one. So can understand what you say about yours being taken away.
Lovely page Sian :)
Beautiful page. Looking forward to story telling sunday.
It is scary when you start talking about June STS! Ack!
lovely page, sian. love the patterned parrot! funny how we remember colours so vividly (like the blue dress). i vividly remember the colour of a pink skirt i had, so so beautiful. and the fabric was so soft too! wish it was still around to quilt something with it.
A great 'memory' page,Sian.
Lovely page Sian..looking forward to hearing the story!

This is a very sweet and pretty page. And I would thank you for the reminder about the upcoming Storytelling Sunday, if you hadn't sneaked that teaser into this post.
A lovely page, and I'm very curious about the story now!
Absolutely lovely layout & now I'm curious about the rest of the story!:>)
What agorgeous layout. Love it - and so pefect for the photo
The Crate is so great on this page! A sweet photo too. Too bad about the willow. :( I had one in the backyard of my last house and still miss it.
Lovely page. The stories behind your photo are priceless. Reminds me of the time my mother dressed my brother and me up like Raggedy Ann and Andy. Bet there's a picture of that somewhere!
You are just a big tease aren't you! On tenterhooks for June's story now!!!
That page is very "you" - lots of quirky touches and a magic photo/title
You have given me an idea for June's now. Will be a shock when I blog :0)
Now I just need to find the photos.
Love the fact that this is a relatively simple page but still manages to say so much.
I really love all the elements that make up your page Sian....its so nice.
A little taster for sts too lol!
The pretty paper party is so well, pretty. Lovely page.
It's sad when a garden tree has to be cut down. I know that feeling.
Great way to remind and tease us Sian. I love willow trees, there are a lot in a local park of mine and I recall us sitting under one when it rained, rather than bothering to go home. Little hobos that we were!
I love the papers you are using, Sian. My aunt had a huge willow tree and I loved to play in that when I stayed. We have a weeping birch tree, not as impressive as a willow but it is still good for little people to hide in.
I love the way you cut out branches to remember your tree, what a shame it was cut down.
Your pages are always so beautiful and inventive.
such a fun memory page. i've only recently begun to think that growing up in the 70's was quite fun and i'm glad i was there in that time.
Beautiful page, and wonderful photo. I also think that a very small patterned paper often makes a better background than just the plain color---odd for a
CAS girl like me.
A really beautiful layout. It looks like we're destined to have stories on a similar theme this year for Story Telling Sunday because it was my intention to dig out some old pictures of me at a previous Jubilee celebration when I was a child.
I, for one, cannot wait for the sequel. I think what you said in your previous post, about blogland being quiet, is very true. I have to admit I've been making myself post every Wednesday, just to keep my blog going. Hoping to get back into better habits, although the sunshine doesn't help!
Perfect elements for a childhood memories page!
Such a pretty layout! :)
I think certain trees and gardens from childhood contain a certain magic. It's a shame when they are cut down (or when we grow up because I've never found the same magic upon my return).

Lovely memories, are you going t'p dress up this year:)
I'm enjoying the vertical look of your layouts these days, with the scalloped edges here it's pretty :)
I really dig the parrot :)
How fun - I was thinking about STS and planning what to do as I'll be away teaching on that weekend. I'll have the post ready to go and pop on quickly to link up.
Really enjoying the stuff you are doing with the slice - looks like so much fun.
What great outfits! They look so cute. Your page looks lovely, I like how you used all the pretty party supplies. X
I followed the mary, mary link and discovered The Teletubbies song had actually been #1 in the UK. Of course I had to look it up and play it to my son who used to be such a fan! Thanks for the trip down memory lane. :D
What a lovely page Sian and your photo reminds me sometimes there are more than one story in them.
