I'm Pushing Paper

I'm pulling paper, pushing pins and generally playing around with preparations for my 2011 Christmas album. So that means I've been using my new board again -

I've made mood boards before for rooms I've been decorating; but never one for an album. I'll be doing it again, though. That's for sure. It really helped me to sort through my stash becasue I knew what I was looking for. I started with the Lily Bee memorandum collection; and the ledger paper look. Love that.

And then I added magazine cutttings, scraps, some old October Afternoon, a few Studio Calico scraps and a couple of photos.

Like last year it'll probably be a December Daily/ Journal Your Christmas mix. I'm aiming to prepare before December starts; but I do enjoy the JYC Forum, so you are bound to find me on there. Oh, and I've signed up for the Christmas photography class with Katrina Kennedy at Debbie Hodge's, so you might find me there too. And you? Where will you be this December?

Ohhhhh ... I do love your Christmas mood board. What a great idea. Thanks for your comments on my blog the other day to take a look at pinterest for ideas. It really helped :-)

Looks gorgeous, I look forward to seeing it all come together :)

I have a 'mood board' in front of me at my desk, usually with pinned messages of things I should be doing! Last year I used Shimelle's manifesto and this year I'm thinking of having a garland :)

I'm going to combine JYC and DD too, but have made a firm promise to myself to stop at the 25th this year! I have also looked at the photography class you have mentioned, I may try that too .... actually, I had better not because December is looking a little bit busy by the looks of my calendar!

I love that pale blue and red combo for Christmas! And I'm really feeling Christmassy this year... embracing not resisting! I even listened to some Christmas songs yesterday...! Can't wait to see your album in progess x

Love the idea of your mood board and it looks so neat. I've never done DD and never finished JYC so just not quite sure yet which one to do.

Oohh great mood board. Me thinks that maybe getting all my Christmas stuff out might get me inspired.

I can see that your pinboard is going to prove very useful. That's a great idea to use it as a moodboard and it looks like you have some wonderful combinations already picked out.

Some great ideas and colour combinations. Can't wait to see your album on JYC When I saw your frame the other day, I immediately thought what a great idea for where to display my Christmas cards this year. And that's what I am going to do, so thanks Sian!

I'm hoping to do something in December but not quite sure what yet. Going to a local craft shop this morning to look at papers etc. I've also had a look at the photography class you mentioned and have signed up - just hope I find the time to put it into practice.

Loving your mood board idea for your album Sian

I dont do the whole Christmas album thing but I am planning a year long album for next year as I will be (gulp) 50 and Im combining it with the 365+1 photo challenge. I had procured a box and was putting things in randomly but think I might pinch your mood board idea as I want some sort of cohesive colour scheme to run through the album

oooo very pretty.... I still haven't put together any idea for jyc yet!

This board came together beautifully, and I love seeing all the Christmas elements on it. I'm planning on a DD/JYC combo again this year, but haven't had time to pull much together yet.

I love your board idea Sian, me I'm doing JYC my prepared book is on my blog. Also doing a photo course with Cheryl Johnson from 1-12 Dec. So I'll see you at Shimelle's place

Looks like you've found some great papers - I like the ledger look, too.

I'm not doing a DD or JYC type album this year, but I have signed up for the BPC 12 Days of Christmas. I'll follow the prompts up until Christmas and then catch up on the 12 after Christmas prompts later in January to create my pages.

I'm also taking the BPC Reclaiming Your Time workshop as I evaluate what I want to do/how I want to spend my time in 2012.

Oh, Sian, I love this piece!!! I spent a few minutes studying your lovely detail. It's so cool how all of your bits and pieces come together to make an amazing piece of artwork. But of course, that's just what you do. It's awesome!

What a lovely collection of goodies! I'm doing a mix of JYC and DD, but have done no prep at all so far!

I love your idea of a mood board. I think the counterfeit kit reveal serves a similar purpose as a starting off point. Will definitely think of this next time I do a theme album. I'm doing Cheryl Johnson's 12 Day of Christmas photography class but trying hard not to do a JYC album because I'd prefer to get some other projects done.

This mood board looks amazing just the way it is!! Yes, Memorandum has some very Christmassy looking papers in it's collection. I used the collection yesterday for an assignment but was playing with the blue and gold picks. You will be busy this December with all of your plans! No special December scrappy plans for me. I am planning on scrapping a bit more of Thomas's first Christmas last year and I'll probably do a few LO's of something Christmassy from around here.

I absolutely adore the colors on your mood board! So far I have avoided the commitment of a December Daily or Journal Your Christmas, but am beginning to weaken.......

Lovely mood board -- looks liek a Christmas dexoration already. You're so organised. I'll be on the jYC forum again for sure, and I'll probably watch DD but I find that a bit too precise for me, also I can't work out how to become a follower - ALi Edwards is more professional than the average blogger

What a great use for the board. The bits and pieces you've put together look fab even before you've made them in to anything!

Well, great minds must think alike, because every time I have a blog post in the works, you seem to come up with something along the same lines. No I don't have a cool pin board like that, nor have I started on crafty Christmas endeavors - but your post title is very similar to one of mine about paper pushing. You have inspired me to get on that Christmas thing though.

Oooh it looks very Christmassy! I'll be doing JYC this year, I've got my journal & papers, and I don't know whether I'll get prepared before December or make it as I go along!

I'm being lazy this year - I won a Christmas collection sample pack from Kaisercraft (well two actually, but I gave one away as it wasn't "me") so I am simply using the papers, rub-ons, journalling cards & die-cuts from that - I've put my creativity into making an album with them instead ... oh and I'll be doing CJ's 12 Days of Christmas again this year - always a hectic start to JYC!

Your mood board looks lovely.

I posted the album I am making and cannot wait to start!! I need to look up a few of my digi items to see what I can print off to prepare myself. I LOVE your colors for your album :)

I signed up for Karen Grundberg's class at BPC called Reclaiming My Time, something I am hoping will help me with time management. I would love to take a photography class, it's something I've never done. There are lots of great classes out!!

Love the idea of a mood board to help with the album. I desperately want to do a JYC this year but am struggling to find the time to start :(

At last, at last - time to leave a comment! I'm loving your new pinboard, inspired :) Your layouts and cards have, of course, been very beautiful too; and, of course, I thoroughly enjoyed your Storytelling Sunday tale.

As for December projects, I blogged about it myself just this afternoon lol! I'm doing a scaled-down JYC but I'm also planning some sort of December Daily. Still thinking through my ideas for that. Looking forward to seeing your project progress xx

What a fantastic idea to create a mood board to plan a project. I'll have to try this too.

I'll see you on the JYC forum I'm sure! x

I liked the idea of your pinboard when it was just a frame and chicken wire. I'm loving it now that I've seen it in use.
Still undecided on how to approach JYC/DD this year. Time is ticking!

My email isn't working so I'll leave a message here. Thanks so much for the magazine. I can't wait to settle down with it. Gorgeous card as well.

What a great idea. I pinned it to pinterest so that I can make my own. Thanks

I'm another combining JYC with DD and I hyave the foundation pages in hand, but not complete.
Your mood board looks gorgeous!

That's a brilliant idea to use a mood board. My 'stuff' is stashed in a big carrier bag left over from last year. Oh dear, I've been meaning to sort it and I did finally go through and tidy. I've been struggling to think how to do my album this year but have been inspired by a friend. So I just need to dig out the bag now and get organised. I'll never be as organised as you, that's for sure!!

Cool idea - I tend to cover my trolley and pin things up temporarily but really like the idea of having a place to build over a couple of days. Pretty combination of papers - looking forward to seeing what you are going to create.

Sian, when I saw your first post on your pinboard I thought "What a useful thing this is," and now you've gone and proved just how useful it is. This truly is inspired. You might have to make others that are right-sized for showing off your scrapping creations.
