We're at a turning point with Halloween celebrations here. Gone are the days of the school Fireworks display, and the Fancy Dress competitions, and the I'm-scared-of-sparklers-but-let's-have-some-anyway. We will still have the traditional apple tart; and some nuts, and maybe a toffee apple or two. And I hope to catch a glimpse of Little E in his dinsoaur suit. We do have treats ready for callers, though, and we have done a bit of decorating.
But it's more grown-up decorating this year. I made a "chandelier" for the Gotta Craft Blog, with scraps of blue and grey paper and black cardstock; and a LOT of punched shapes. Dozens and dozens of witches, all punched out and hot glue gunned on. More pictures on the shop blog!
And tonight? Stay safe, but have a spookily splendid time!

cute chandelier. looks fab. I should think about making something like this. very effective. we're not doing Halloween this year which makes me a bit sad and I miss Bonfire Night. But the main event is just around the corner now so I'm hoping to get some new decorations made.
Very spooky. We don't do halloween - its me really I just don't "get" it - my girls havn't even mentioned it this year! However we do love bonfire night and make quite an evening of it.
That's quite the chandelier. We don't decorate up for Halloween at our house but we do have the treats ready for tonight. Hope we didn't overbuy like we did last year. :)
Fab!! I made a garland with my grandgirls. But a chandelier is on the cards for next year when they are older and perhaps more able to soebd the time needed putting it together.
I LOVE all the witches and pumpkins hanging down - it is a true masterpiece. Thank you for sharing and I hope you have a wonderful Halloween celebration. It is a good excuse to create!!
Sadly, we seem to have reached that point too. Neither of my two are very interested in it this year.
Love your chandelier, very inventive and a lot of patience required I'm thinking.
It never occurred to me that folk read all the blogs they follow in their Reader! I always click over myself, so I can comment. Thanks for pointing it out xx
Wonderfully creative Siân - hopefully any trick or treaters will see it too!
Love the chandelier! Your hand must be sore from all that punching. There is no fall decorating here at all this year. We're going from summer to Christmas; seems so strange but with all the kitchen redo, decorating seemed so pointless!
Love the colour scheme. It's a great chandelier. Hope all the birthday celebrations went well and the 80 year old didn't run out of puff!
I have been away and am just catching up on my favourite blogs. I like the idea of 'words to live by' and you have set me thinking about aims and values. It will be an interesting exercise to see what the family come up with as well.
Luckily mine are still small enough to enjoy Halloween. The front of the house is decorated with cobwebs and spiders and all the pumpkins are carved. I have two very exited ones on a half hourly countdown till it gets dark!!
I saw your chandelier on the shop blog and its fantastic quite a labour of love cutting out all those shapes...
love the photography of this chandelier - kinda spooky and dreamy all on its own :-) Happy Halloween!
Wow, very creative effort Sian! My decorating is limited to ready-made china pumpkins and some sparkly lights, plus a couple of carved pumpkins with candles inside. We have a pile of sweeties for Trick or Treat though.
Have fun - Happy Halloween!
That's a work of art! Did you count all the pretty and spooky items you punched? (Would be good for a Month in Numbers Entry). Hoping you're not too partied out to enjoy the evening. We used to put a sixpence covered in greaseproof paper in the apple tart. Do you do that? (Though I bet it's gone up!).
We don't really do Halloween....but I do have some sweet treats in case we get any callers.
Love that chandelier....a real work of art.
Love your Halloween chandalier, what a great idea. My two are dressing up tonight, DD as a vampire, and DS is going as an old lady - he has the nylon dress, beige tights and sensible lace up shoes all lined up!
An awesome decoration!! Happy Halloween!!
LOVE the chandelier...my 'twig tree' is decorated and I'm about to blog about Halloween in Spain!
Alison xx
Wow I can imagine how many shapes you punched. It was well worth the effort as it looks amazing. I especially like the witches sewn together they would make a great garland.
Wow that must have taken ages, well worth it though because it looks amazing.
What a fab chandelier x
Sparklers? Apple tart? I love hearing about different Halloween traditions! Love the chandelier!
Paul and I had a great time walking around tonight - visiting the local haunted house and drinking with friends. Neither of the kids dressed up this year.

What a gorgeous chandelier Sian! Oh how I miss bonfire night, we have only been to one in the Middle East and that was in Kuwait. Hope you had a fun evening!
That chandelier is wicked. They're a miserable lot round here. DD was so disappointed, only one person opened his door and he had nothing to give.
Dead Riding Hood came home with an empty basket - boohoo!
whooaa, that's a lot of shapes gone into that chandelier. It is blooming gorgeous!
What a totally fabulous idea! And it looks so pretty too - very effective.
Gorgeous chandelier Sian.
We only got 2 trick or treaters - mind you I was a bit zonked with this cold so just as well really.
Phoebe went trick or treating in a different area with her friend and parents and came back laden down with goodies - she'll be all week scoffing and that's after she shared it out with the rest of us!
Fantastic Chandelier Sian!! Creative use of those punches!
Ooooooh!!! I LOVE this, Sian. Great colors and design and everything. Cool!
Oh I like that witch! Amazing number of punches and shapes, very creative.
Didn't do any Halloween except admire friends' and friends' kids costumes on blogs and fb.
Oh it's fantastic, I love it! Happy belated Halloween Sian :)
