Learn Something New Every Day 2011

So, I know I said Autumn always puts a certain - spring in my step; but it has taken me until now to start Learning Something New. I've talked about it and thought about it, and now I'm finally doing it:

Clearly, one of my ongoing lessons has to be that I can conquer my procrastinatory tendencies if I try. It's the trying that's the hard bit.

Last year I worked small, with a little box of gift cards, and I enjoyed it. So this year I decided to do (nearly) the same thing. I played about with the Vintage Findings card for The Slice, cutting different tag shapes:

I nearly went with that index card shape. (Didn't know I had that. Next lesson: take more time for playing.) Then I tried out some embellishment cutting and there was another lesson there: a one inch bird sitting on a branch is a lot, lot smaller than a four inch one. Interesting.

It's tags for me, then, and I'm learning while I cut, as I stick, when I think..how about you? how's your learning coming along?

With very grateful thanks to everyone who participated in Storytelling Sunday again this month. I know lots of you took a break from learning to join in. Thank you! The Linky stays open all week, so there is plenty of time to add your story. And if you are reading this in a Reader? Please, click here - at the last count there are 27 stories to enjoy!

I'm loving what you are doing this year Sian,I'm not doing too bad - I've decided to just go with it and do my own learning - rather than worry about any of it and it seems to be going better for me! P.S have emailed you re Pinterest-I did receive invite thank you x

I am thoroughly enjoying LSNED this year, I really like grabbing a small snippet of the day and making a mini album.
Which paper line have you chosen to work with Sian? It looks like a MME line but I have not looked at any paper supplies for ages so I am not sure anymore!

Love the tag shape you chose - very cute. Last year I signed up and maybe did 5 prompts. This is it was clear that I will not have time, too many other things in my pile of "must-do" stuff. So I decide that I will not join this year, which is completely different form deciding to join and not doing anything LOL

It will be so lovely when it's done. I'm not really participating this year, but I am trying to be a little more mindful or lessons I can learn.

Looks like you are going to learn how to do lots of pretty tags. That index card shape is nice:) I have learnt this week that when your teen starts something new (college) he still doesn't tell you all about the new things he is doing.

You can certainly cut some great shapes with that Slice....it will all look great together.

The shapes and those little cutouts - so pretty.

I love these pretty shapes and your lovely papers ... I saw some little baby girl clothes today in John Lewis in just these colours. :)

Great die cuts! I really like that tag and the index card with the fancy cut!! I have hours of discovering to be had with my Cricut cartridges.

that is going to be SO pretty - can't wait to see your progress. I played along back in 2006 and still love my album and every year I think about it again but there's no way I could fit it in this year! Maybe another month!

You've taught me something today Sian, I have that slice card and I didn't know there were tags on it! :) I love what you've cut out and can't wait to see your decorated tags

This is a bit of a tease Sian, we need to see what you are making out of these lovely tags! I'm guessing they are going to be real works of art.
I'm going for small and simple for my project as I think that is the best way for me to keep up with the days. Really enjoying it so far.

You're the last person I would say procrastinates :) I'm really liking what you've done so far

Oh man! I knew you would come up with something pretty spectacular, but boy my list of wants related to your posts is now becoming obscene. I never wanted that slice until I saw what "you" did with it. Those tag shapes are going to look amazing Sian! I can't wait to see the final look :)

Love what you've done here; the papers are gorgeous. I, too, find the dimensions of the Slice cuts somewhat surprising.

Ooh I love those bannerish looking tags. I'm failing miserably with LSNED apart from jotting down a few notes each day!

Ooh very pretty. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with your book of tags.

They look great Sian! I love all of those booklet ideas but I think you made the right choice. I must get on and print some pics so I can get some pages done. Looking forward to seeing your pages.

Love your tags Sian and the little embellies you are making. I am just doing my own thing each day and must confess I haven't even opened the prompts this year.

Fun on the tags! Can't wait to see you're lessons and pages!

This looks lovely - you're getting good use out of your slice aren't you?! I'm still debating whether to do LSNED - may so a weekly summary ... oh hang on, even then I'm behind :P

Sian, the index card is nice, but the die cuts are awesome! What wonderful layouts and cards you will be making, I'm sure.

Looks like you're having fun with that Slice. The shapes all look good. As for the size difference, I guess that takes a bit more playing to figure it out what size suits what project. Happy cutting!

I thought about LSNED but just knew it wasn't a good time to think about it let alone actually do it. Glad you are playing with the slice and I hear you on making time to play - definitely a necessity.
