Work, Waiting and Winding Roads

The Summer holidays are drawing to a close here at High In The Sky. As the years flick past time seems to fly faster with every new school bag we choose. For the last week we've been in that in between state before the holiday ends and term begins, sewing on name labels and catching up with friends who have been away.

This morning we reached the last staging post before the new year. The Tall One received his exam results and he has done us proud. Very, very proud. All that work and waiting has seemed like a long and winding road at times

but now we know he has a solid foundation for his final two years. And we are off to celebrate!

Then we'll be coming home to finish up all the holiday projects we've been experimenting with. The wooden skeleton kit (Christmas present) is nearly done. The make-your-own-soap is more than completely done (don't overheat it - turns out like chewing gum). And the bedroom tidying is - ongoing. "There's a story behind every one of these things," said The Small One as she sorted. Oh yes. All that's left to do now is have another look back through the summer photos. There is an autumn of scrapbooking ahead...

Congratulations to TTO, I can just imagine how proud you must be!

Tidying bedrooms is a constant, sometimes I stand back and listen to myself, shake my head and wonder how on earth I have managed to sound just like my own Mum!

Well done on the TTO results. Yes lots of name label sewing happening here too! Both girls starting new schools in Sept. We are off to Cornwall next week - a lovely ending to our summer. Hoping to return to blogging in September.

Yay for TTO, I am sure it takes stress of him and ya'll are incedibly proud. Wishing him and TSO a glorious school year. About my produce...funny I always pictured ya'll as having lots nearby produce stalls and markets.

Oh, there is something so special about those last days of summer when you are preparing for another school year. I miss those days. They flew by too quickly. Congrats to your DS for his success! These photos are beautiful! I am starting to look forward to a new season as these summer mornings are becoming increasingly chillier. There is always so many great photo opportunities in the fall!

Yay TTO! Please pass on our congratulations :)

I'm starting to think about the new term, just a little.... And wondering quite how I'm going to be ready for it when we won't be home till the 3rd and The Tomboy and I will be in school on the 5th?! Thank goodness The Boy doesn't start till the 7th!

PS I love your gorgeous cards! I find that I build up a stock naturally through the samples I make for my papercrafts class; though I always prefer to make a card specifically for the person and occasion, sometimes there just isn't time and I'd rather pull out a card from stock than wait till I have time to create :)

Congratulations to TTO. What a relief and an achievement, all that hard work paid off. Love the photos, beautiful soft effects. My second grand daughter starts school soon. It doesn't seem possible, I still think of her as the one, even if she does now have a baby sister.
Enjoy what is left of the holidays.

Sian these photos are amazing! I actually thought of asking you if you were using actions on your post with the typewriter, but I see from just leaving a message with Lisa that you are. I've looked at some of those before and now you've got me drooling :)

Great job to TTO!!

Congrats to TTO...LOL at TSO's comments on room tidying! But it's so true...how on earth can you part with/tidy away an item before exploring its full memory potential!!! I'm loving these photo's & can't wait to see them on a LO soon!! :)

Congratulations on the exam results - hope he enjoys 6th form. Ewok hasn't made it over to collect his results yet :sigh:

Haven't made soap in years, found lots of candle making bits and figure that will be an autumnal craft session or two this year.
