...about my boy being away (and a completely unrelated layout)
It is travelled themed though. My first Norway page, which appeared on the Gotta Craft blog last week |
1. The dishwasher is only half full every evening.
2. I don't seem to be running out of milk. Or bread.
3. Watching the Formula One without him isn't the same.
4. No one pats me on the head. No, wait. That one isn't true. Everyone pats me on the head. And I mean everyone.
5. You bring a child into the world, you look at him and you think I'm going to do everything I can to make sure you always have everything you need. And then he grows up a bit and tells you his plane gets in at 5.30am, which means getting up at 3.00am to drive to the airport. And you think Mmmm..

.................and that's why you love the tall one so much. My friend Kathy could empathise with 4 tall ones (one her husband). On a normal day there is him and no 3 son but in 2 weeks there will be no 1 university hols son, no 2 marine on R&R son and no 3 footballer in training son! At least she has a dishwasher

I've been thinking about you and TTO a lot this week ~ you've given me an insight in to my life in about 10 years time!
The milk and bread rings very true indeed!!!!
Love the layout! Love #5
Great LO...and I know what you mean about #5-I have thought that many times!
Alison xx
Yes, but we do it none the less, I've been in the car for three hours today ferrying one to this, that and the other!
My mother always said that her need to buy shampoo and toilet paper greatly reduced when her three daughters left home ;-)
Lovely layout - I really like all the layers & the ribbons/lace at the bottom.
Pretty layout, love all the distressed edges. And I've noticed lately that I can't fit about 5 things in the dishwasher each evening, so I end up leaving some plastic things in the sink to be hand washed in the morning. Must work on cramming those in there at all costs!
Aw...sweet and sentimental post, Sian. My Carrie is away this weekend as well - away on a work related trip for her company's annual convention. We are pet sitting her dog and cat and it's like a mini-zoo around here.
Lovely layout!!! xo
Love that gorgeous page Sian. I have noticed that over the past 3 weeks a distinct lack of the need to buy crisps, biscuits and cake as I seem to put them in the cupboard and, do you know what, they are still there when I go back a day or so later!
A stunning LO! What a beautiful photo! Fun observations. You must miss your son. Although, some time away from the teenagers in summertime can be a good thing, in my experience anyway. ;)
your observations are great and I will experience the opposite for hte next two weeks as my baby (18) brother comes to visit. He's way taller than me (in fact, everyone is taller than me so I relate with you there!) and eats for England! I will notice all those extras while he's around - but in a good way! Gorgeous layout. Love that photo
Love this post Sian, and I can relate to them all!
Lost count of the number of early flight journeys I've done now - one of the hazards of living 6 miles from London Stansted!
Let's hope his greeting isn't the same as my eldest son when he came back from a camping club trip to Brittany. As he stepped down from the coach he said
"I lost five pounds on the ferry" - this was in 1981 - I immediately asked the daft question
"Where?"
and he replied
"In my coat."
Aww, you miss him really. Beautiful layout, love the clean pretty colours and shabby chic edges. If rob wasn't here we would def. have more milk, cereal, chocolate and toilet paper. Oh and the shower would be free in the mornings.
That's a very pretty page, Sian :). Hope the memory of breathing fresh air is still with you. Up here I reckon if we simply went due east, the first thing we'd hit would be the side of a Norwegian fiord! Smiling about absence of The Tall One: I noticed that we had mugs to drink out of, and the bathroom was always tidy. :)
I love that layout Sian. It's so dreamy; and great journaling.
And your list brought a smile to my face. I originally thought I'd have a bunch of daughters and was shocked when our first child turned out to be a boy. But I've loved being the mother of a son. It's an unexpected treasure.

Lovely LO Sian and interesting obversations! We seem to be going through a 4 pint carton of milk prety much daily since the children broke up from school!
how lovely to return home from a week away to read your crafty week posts. i enjoyed every one of them! xx
Such a beautiful layout, each time I see a layout of yours I think, oh no THIS one is my fav lol.
Your post really made me smile :) ok giggle at the getting up so early to pick him up lol
Your layout is stunning Sian, fantastic use of patterned paper.
I think back when I was the age of TTO and all the things my parents did for me, now the tables are turned... after this week the enjoyment I shared in having my parents stay with us, giving back to them the things they gave me... thanks Sian... I think I have a story here :)
actually laughed out loud at #5..as much as we love them sometimes their requests are a bit hard :)
ah, how many ways your life is affected by having children! I'm sure you love him enough for the 3am wake up... just about! x
#5 is awesome and resonates with me! Loved reading this even so many months... oops, years later! I don't know when I started following your blog but I am enjoying visiting these older posts!
It is amazing how much longer the groceries last with one less to feed!
