Five Holiday Observations..

...with photos from Bergen's open air museum.

1. If you are the littlest (see how I slipped that in there?), you don't have to carry a suitcase. The big people do that.

2. Next time, don't visit the Titanic exhibition two weeks before sailing. That way you won't be left fighting the urge to shout "Stuff the drill, let's just get in the lifeboats," at the Emergency Procedure Lecture.

3. When your husband describes your outfit as "jaunty", you know you have overdone the nautical stripe cruisewear.

4.  Watching the Space Shuttle launch while in a hotel room miles from home with everything you own reduced to what is in your suitcase can be a strangely moving experience.

5. Something great about getting older: it seems no time since last summer. Holidays come round faster and that has to be a good thing, right?

Have a great weekend everyone. I'll have a new layout up on the Gotta Craft blog tomorrow and I have a special series I've been working on for you next week. It's "My Crafty Life" with a layout a day Monday to Friday. How's your crafty life this summer?

The 'jaunty' comment DID make me laugh Sian...your pics are great...just how I imagine all things Nordic would look like!

I am glad you are all home safe and sound, the news out of Norway over night and during the day has just been terrible.

Jaunty? Well, perhaps we could be the judges of that ... pics?

I love your 5 observations very true too

"Jaunty" eh? The Bergen museum looks cool. I didn't manage to go there - though there are lots of these museums throughout Scandinavia - went to a couple, at Mora (Sweden) and Stockholm. It's so interesting to see how people used to live in the countryside, when they had to be so resourceful. Great photos, Sian!
I have mixed feelings about the way that time seems to be whizzing by... I'd rather just have more holidays and more time to enjoy them!

Great observations and I love the 'blue' photo:) My crafty life this summer will be very much determined by my children!

Ah, my holidays seem to get further and further apart *sigh* but I'm so glad you've been enjoying yours enough to dress jauntily! x

Hmm 'jaunty' ... that sounds like we need photographic evidence ;-)
Seems like you timed your visit to Norway well, the news from there overnight is not good.
Glad you had a good holiday!

Nothing wrong with a little 'jaunty' nautical look when your crusing. Love those 'clean' coloured painted furniture and walls.

One week before my first cruise I went to see the Poseidon Adventure (not smart on my part) and if that didn't raise my fears, there was a special on t.v. about people missing at sea... Your comment about the space shuttle sure puts things into perspective and I agree time passes much faster with each year!

Gorgeous photos - love the clean painted wood. Jaunty hmm - does sound nautical. Can totally see how the Titanic inspired shouting may not be deemed helpful during the lecture. But my family would be muttering it in the back...

Good to have you back - love the photos ... thinking back to your seaside retreat, I suspect you have Norwegian blood in your veins.

Great photos, sometimes it's good to look jaunty :)

I agree with other comments that we really need to see your 'jaunty' outfit! The photos are a nice way to illustrate your 5 observations.

My crafty-ness this summer will suffer while I look after baby boy! At least I'm getting some photos for future scrapping fodder though! x

You do put a positive spin on things. It's great that your vacations come faster rather than slower than you like!
