But before I do, I'd like to ask you a question. That top photo, the close-up one - do you like to see close-up detail shots? Or are you happy with a single picture of a layout? I'm thinking about photos at the minute and I'd love to know what you think, so please cast your vote below...

Well, I have plumped for one detailed shot but was torn between that answer and several detailed shots as it depends on the project. With your card today, one detailed shot is enough to see how you have layered up thepapers/elements together. If it was a 12 x 12 page (or a mini book with lots of pages etc etc) several shots may be useful depending on techniques etc etc used. Hope that makes sense xxx
Have voted but want to weigh in and say that this post looks great and the photos are lovely. I think they really show off these fab cards top their advantage :D
Super cards - I love the tinsel on the congrats one!
I've voted "Other" and given a reason - I don't like to see half a dozen detail shots that simply show a slightly different angle or every blooming embellie on the page!
Detail shot(s) for added detail - fine, to show dimension at and angle - fine, to show sparkle in a better light - fine, other than that I get bored and irritated but then I am a G.O.W. :P

I've voted similar to those above - I like a few detail shots of layouts with lots of little details to look at because otherwise you don't get the full effect.
But you don't always need a a detail shot of a card, and if you do, one detail is usually enough, as you've done here with your beautiful 'remember' card. Those girls paperie papers are so pretty, and I'm glad I got to see the rose closer.

They are both beartiful cards and with this project I love the one detailed shot. If it's suited to the project then I do like a few detailed shots but not of the same thing from different angles
Great cards - for a previously reluctant card maker you are doing pretty good! Anyway I agree with most of the above re photos - when it comes to detailed shots, it depends how detailed the layout is to how many are needed. However I do like to see large photos that fill up the whole of the text width - I think it looks more pleasing to the eye.
your cards are gorgeous! I can't even get my head around card making, I need photos to work around :) agree about detail shots, only where it shows something not obvious from the larger shot. With regards staged or cropped photos, I love the way you have done these cards. The background is simple so not distracting & with cards being smaller the detail is not lost when you have a nice big clear photo. Maybe with a detail filled 12x12 layout cropped is better as you can see more clearly with everything being smaller relative to the project size. if that even makes sense!

Great little cards - my favourite bits are the floral strips and the star with tinsel.
i love your cards, they are beautifully designed and photographed. personally i love to see a shot of a LO/card and then any detaisl which help to understand the LO/card design process or show how to make an element. Does that help?

Aren't those girls paperie bits gorgeous? I like making cards - using up scraps and trying out techniques or styles. Love having a box full to dig through and give away.
I like a detail shot if it adds to the explanation - to show layering, glittery bits that aren't clear in the main shot.
If there are going to be several I like 'em in a block collage so you can skip 'one' thing rather than trawling through a long page of photos.
Generally speaking I really like how you photograph your projects Sian, I think you always take time to place them appropriately with coordinating papers and backgrounds and even little 'extra' embellishments - it adds further dimension to your project.
Like Lyn has said, having the photos within the post being the same size as the text width is also appealing because the post seems to flow more easily - in my opinion.
I like a good clear overall shot of the project and appreciate the detail shots when and where you deem them appropriate - too many and it is frustrating.
Love but the cards but I'm afraid my voting will have been no help whatsoever. I think each of the options you listed has their place and that each post needs to be accompanied by the appropriate shots. You have the wonderful tendency to get it right already. I do agree with Jim Jams, umpteen shots just of slightly different angles doesn't work for me but, each to their own :-)

I love the cards you created, Sian! I have never been a big fan of card making until just recently. For the past couple of months I have been sending a card to my mom, and one to my grandmother every week. They are mostly simple cards, but I've really enjoyed putting them together and they enjoy receiving them. :o)
I love what you've made,Sian....and also like seeing the details as well...I'd be happy with a couple of detailed shots as well as the main one.....but 2 is probably enough.
I love the top card - you make the combination of patterned papers seem effortless! I like a detail shot or two and am a huge fan of "staged" photos.

I already like how you photograph your projects. In general though i do like to see a full shot and then a detailed one to see the depth and layering!! Great cards, loving that butterfly xx
See, you are getting into this card lark now aren't you? Love them! I do like a few close ups but only if it is differnet shots of a part of a project worth highlighting. I don't like to see lots of close ups of the same item but at lots of different angles....boring! I have to say that my camera is better at close ups with regard to clearness.....and your close up was worth highlighting:)...also like staged photos of LOs.

I like to see detailed shots especially if there is something on there that is handmade or u tok time over. I like to appreciate the detail that was put into it :)

Love the cards Sian...for me I like one or two close-ups, but not too many....we definately needed the close-up of that first card!

Your poll let me tick three boxes, so I did - it depends on the project and what you want to show - you've got yours spot on here. What I don't like is loads of shots showing more or less the same thing.

Hello Sian! I LOVE your cards!! I agree with the others, the type of photos depends on the post and your posts are perfect (i.e. - seriously love the photo of "Higgins" in the previous post!!)
Sure hope you'll share the results of your poll! I think I'm with the majority here. Cards: I like staged with one detail shot. Layouts: I like a closer crop with several details shots of different aspects of the layout. Is that pretty much the results you are getting?

Oh Sian, I *love* your cards!! I'm a fan of detail shots, personally; sometimes one is enough but sometimes it's nice to see several, particularly of different details on a lavishly embellished layout :)
what completely adorable cards. love them both. I see I'm late to the survey but one of the things I love about your blog is the wonderful way you present your projects - the photos are always lovely.
I love close ups and really think I need to improve that side of my presentation. keep giving us the lovelies - it's always a pleasure!
Love the cards. I like to see the whole thing and then some detail but only if it adds something (which one shot usually does). It has reminded me to stage my photos a bit as I'm normally a "crop it square" kinda gal.
I've voted a bit late and am commenting because I love your staged shots but I also love details shots, not fussed how many. because I wouldn't see from one main shot sometimes that for instance you had sewn some bits or what cute buttons you used... sometimes I just like being nosy and reading bits of your journalling and admiring with jealousy your handwriting :)
