I love it when I get chatting to someone in the family and I'm reminded of a little famiy story I had completely forgotten:
In wartime, when Grandma wanted to redecorate and wallpaper was scarce she used to smuggle it across the border by wrapping the rolls around her body and covering up with a stout overcoat |
Talking of stories - it's Storytelling Sunday time again this weekend. If you'd like to join in, all you need to do is write a post with a story, let your readers now that it's a Storytelling Sunday post and then come over here and link it up. Everyone welcome!
And finally, in case it helps someone else - I've been trying to get into Blogger all day. Couldn't post, couldn't comment. As a long shot, I tried changing browsers (from Explorer to Chrome) and it worked. Hurray! I'm hitting the post button right now..

Yea - it's been far too long since you've posted a "captured in a card." Need to put on my thinking cap for Storytelling Sunday - thanks for the reminder!

Now that's a story that made me chuckle out loud!
I can't imagine how you would act and walk normally wrapped in wallpaper all covered with an overcoat. I think we need to know more about this story :)
You seem to have an endless supply of these wonderful little family stories Sian:)Perfectly captured in your cards.
Lovely story! Wallpaper wasn't the only thing smuggled across the border in those days, I am sure. I seem to remember stories of butter, and shoe leather - must check with my Mum! Your card is delightful.
Yor stories always bring a smile to my face, as do your amazing projects
I must admit being away from blogland has some perks....I get to see lots of posts filled with lovely goodness and that makes me happy. I really do love your style Sian, you rock those supplies and I love having a catch up with you.
Have a lovely weekend xx
Wallpaper... round her body.... under a coat...?! Brilliant! I'll remember that next time I'm in B&Q next to the LLB paper *lol*
Beautiful card... the colours are just so exactly perfect!
I love this card! So cute :)
I am at the end of my tether with blogger ... hopefully I can post a little later in the day - I have installed chrome quite some time ago and made other changes but still had big problems yesterday ... was worried because all was going pear shaped while I was drafting my post for Sunday .... I'll keep you posted!
A lovely card with such a vintage vibe and wonderful flower. Love the story in this one! What we woman do to make home feel like home! hee hee
what a fab story amazing. I too have not been anle to get into blogger for ages now might try your tip and change to chrome thanks for the tip x
adorable card. Great story.
Yes I find blogger seems to behave better on chrome! Lovely card and story - do you think she rustled as she walked!
My husband is a computer tutor, and once of his first pieces of advice when you're having internet problems is to try a different browser. It works most of the time. I haven't tried Chrome yet, but I'm interested.
Lovely card Sian. Your Gran's love of fabric obviously rubbed off on you, those Sindy clothes are fabulous!
Love the card Sian. I've been using chrome off & on too. Still not sure if I'll stay with it though.

I just love vintage, and your card and story is just wonderful. I just chuckled at the image you captured of the wallpaper under the coat!
I've been having huge problems with Blogger too lately. It's been driving me mad and not allowing me to leave comments as it won't sign me in. I've started to use Firefox and that seems more reliable.
Love the stories in a card you are doing, Sian. I can relate to that much more than scrapbook pages. As much as I admire what people do, I can't ever see me filling albums or a big collection. Your story in a card is much more me!
