A Fine Visit

"It was such a fine visit, I can hardly put it into words," Mel said; and, do you know, I'm not sure I have the words either. It was the very nicest Saturday morning I've had in a long time.

I knew it was going to be good, I hoped it was going to be great; but I had no idea, really, of what a completely happy time would be had by all. Every one of us. Husbands, children, hamsters, the lot!

You can tell by the photos. Photos? Of course we took photos! We started with this one:

I'm the shorter one. But you knew that.

then this one:

With the Tall One as photographer

But I think this is my very favourite:

The Tall One, The Small One,  Me, The Boy, The Girl and Mel

Look! Can you believe it? The Tall One, The Small One, The Boy, The Girl, Mel and me - all together in one picture. It makes my heart sing.

Within minutes of that knock at the door, the younger ones were racing up the stairs to play in The Small One's room; and The Tall One, The Doctor and The Accountant were deep in chat about - well, money and history and fees and funding and everything they know best. And we two? With Mel's delicious malteser cake stowed safely in the fridge for later, Mel and I started a conversation which I hope will last a lifetime...

So, thank you "Mels" for coming to visit and making our Saturday so much fun. You are very welcome any time. And everyone else? If "The Mels" are ever down your way, be sure to ask them to call. You'll have a blast. And there will probably be cake.

Mel is also telling this story today - I'm off there now to enjoy it her way!

This post just made me smile sooooo BIG! Love seeing the two of you and your families all together and being able to really put it into context. And I agree with the Jennifer - the Tall One truly does have the vertical advantage!

My god. I know you call him the Tall One for a reason, but I never knew it was quite such a valid reason as that! Glad you had a lovely day x

lol you'll have to tell "The Tall One" he is getting lots of attention for I as well thought wow! she wasn't exaggerating! I actually had to scroll down before I got to the top of another head when I was on Mel's blog! So lovely that ya'll could get together, it sounds like it is the beginning a wonderful relationship between families not just blogfriends.

From The Girl (although I would prefer to be nicknamed 'the animal lover')

I can remember that trip as clearly as though it was yesterday(although that probably applies since it was three days ago). I really enjoyed playing there. I am glad my mum and you are writing about this visit-it's good to have a reminder of what happened on Saturday 29th January! I can always use these blog posts to remember my good times.

Sounds like you had a truly memorable time. And thanks for posting so many photos! More portraits of Mel than she posts of herself in a year ;-)
I'm just wondering where Horsey was hiding all the time they were round .....

How marvellous! it's a good job you can't see my face, this colour green is not a good look. I am so envious of your day.

What fun it is to see the two of you together, and even better to see all of your families too. The Tall One is very tall, indeed! Loved reading about your visit. I've had the good luck to meet up with three or four internet friends and all the visits were lovely!

Firstly how lovely. It's so nice to hear that when people make friendships in blogland they get on just as well in real life.

....and secondly, Oh My Word. Now I know you call him 'The Tall One' but I just didn't realise quite how tall. Has he got more growing to do - do you think? You may have to re-christen him if so.

It makes me smile inside just thinking of the smiles that must have been on your faces!! xx

I am positively green with envy! I'm so glad you two had this time together. I must confess that my favorite picture is the one taken by the small one . . . so great to see the husbands with you.
We'll be in Ireland in Summer, 2012 and will definitely plan a trip up to Belfast. Hint, hint.

What fun to get to meet up (and for everyone to get on ;o) ). One thing I have to say, because it's what struck me first, is how wrong preconceived ideas can be. I always thought you were tall!! Don't know why, it was just my impression - the Tall One certainly is though :)
So glad you both had such a great time!
