I'm on the hunt for new colour combinations to use when I'm making things. Maybe it's something to do with spring peeping her head round the corner, I don't know, but this fresh blue, green, grey and white combo had me cutting up last week's paper pretty quickly.
It's an Amy Butler design and it helped me to come up with this:
A simpler look for me, but I like it. I think the journaling will go on the back when I've worked out what it is I want to add. My parents had just thirteen years together; and it's only at my age now that I'm starting to realise how very much more they must have had to say to each other. Maybe that's enough of a story for this page. It's certainly where I'm going to leave it for today.
Have a good Tuesday!

what a sweet, simple page. the colour combo is like looking at Earth from space. which makes me think of mortality and life and all that...
What a lovely page Sian, love the colours and the simplicity of it.
beautiful colour combo, and a lovely, simple layout!
I like the simplicity of this layout. It's clean and fresh and the colours are lovely. It is proof to the saying that sometimes 'less is more'.
Lovely way to focus on the photo. So like you to sneak in little extras like the single gem and the extra bit on the top LHS. Very pretty.
This is without a doubt my FAVORITE color combo on the planet! I just had a dream last night that we were doing some renovation (home design show style) and the people working on our house settled on a sea glass green & blue combo that I just adored... and added pops of an impossible to describe purple/red color. Which I guess just proves I dream in color...
All that to say - love your layout! Simple is king (sometimes).
yes, there is certainly a story there. there is an invincible look on their faces in this photo. thank goodness we aren't able to know what the future holds...
love the poppin', happy blue!
Beautiful layout...and I think you chose the BEST color combination. Whenever I'm lacking in color inspiration I always check out http://www.design-seeds.com/ or if I have a color I want to use and don't know what to combine with it, I love Kuler.adobe.com - both are great sites for color inspiration...although I don't really see you needing any color inspiration...it's all right her on your blog.
Lovely poignant layout Sian. Simple here is clearly best. I am going to try and wean myself of pink and green and grey and pink layouts as I seem to be unable to scrap with other colours at the moment. :)
I do love that color combo. It makes for a striking page. Journaling on the back is a great idea.
A lovely colour combo,Sian....and a beautiful, simple page. I'm very impressed that you managed not to add anything else!
When you say it like that... Craig and I are coming up 9 years together this year and it feels like no time at all.
Beautiful simple page Sian.
That is a beautiful page - I love the simplicity and the thought that they probably had so much left to say to each other.
Oh Sian, you've made me cry. Again.
I love this! Every little detail is perfect.
A wonderful colour combination and this simple page is beautiful! I hear you on the craving spring to come. I seem to be scrapping all things turquoise these days. So strange because it seems to be my new favourite colour for everything in life!
When I saw the first picture I thought it was a quilt! and immediately my mind was annoyed not to have thought of that design first. Then I realised it was a picture and that I did kind of quilt it first. Now I have to go through what fabric I have left to see if I can create something that has that effect... I thought I had given up sewing.
Love it - it has all it needs! Very sweet page.
Sian,
This post coupled with your comment on my blog today gives me a whole new appreciation for you and insight into your family. I can't even imagine how such loss affects a family.
I always wish my kids had more time with my parents, and I try to remind them of what they were like, but know they will remember very little when they get older.
Melancholy thoughts but important ones.

Wat a lovely sweet page, Sian - I thought you said you couldn't do simple? I rather think you can! :) And a poignant story - for them and you ...
I love the colour combination and the simple page you did for this story. I think we only really appreciate certain things as we get older and thirteen years doesn't seem very long at all now! Thanks for sharing it. xx
I love blue and green, something so tranquil about it. The layout is gorgeous, simple but very striking Sian....love it! xx
Beautiful colour combination Sian. You inspiration had two magic words 'Amy Butler'. I'm liking your simple style too.
Sometimes less is more, beautiful photo xx
The simplicity of this is stunning. I lost my mother way too early and only now do I really understand all that I truly lost.
Well, I love blue and green together and I also love Amy Butler ... I can see why you were so inspired! By the way, you do a mean 'simple' page, the striking simplicity suits the beautiful photo and I can completely understand why you would save the journaling for the back of the layout.
Love that colour combination. How sad that your parents had such a short time together. We celebrate 24 years this year and I can't imagine having had only half of that with my darling husband and best friend.
love that color combo...so great :) and your LO is awesome and sweet and simple and perfect :) and very of the times as well.
The colour combo is perfect - I'm feeling blues and greens at the moment too. And it's a very poignant page xx
Sometimes less is best, this is a lovely page and just by the date and the photo it speaks volumes. Lovely x
Sian, this layout says so much. It shows words just aren't needed. It's stunning, truely stunning.
Beautiful Sian, simply beautiful... :)
Simply beautiful, no doubt the page will have great meaning to you with or without journaling.
