(Maybe) Not all About Christmas

"Mum," said The Small One, "I think Christmas is great. Christmas is cool. I've even got Christmas on my List Of Things I Love - look.."

And she waved a brightly crayonned piece of file paper in front of me.

"BUT your blog is totally FULL of Christmas at the minute. Isn't there anything else you could write about?"

Well... I could tell you about my favourite green skirt which comes out at this time of year. It has ruffly layers of velvet and silk; and if I put it on and go and visit my Mum, she ALWAYS says "Why don't you just sew some baubles on it and really turn it into a tree? Because that's what it looks like!".  Ho Ho Ho, Mum. But that would be a Christmas story.

I could tell you about my trolley tipping over in the supermarket last week. When I looked down I only had three wheels on my wagon. (Where did it go? Was it ever there to start with? Was that what the funny looks were about? Or was that the skirt? See above). But, because my jars of Robertson's Best Christmas Mincemeat rolled under the shelves, turns out that's a Christmas story too.

I could show you my favourite recent Hipstamatic photo

but it definitely has a Christmas story so I think I might just have to give in gracefully and remind you that Christmas Club will be in session again this Sunday.

One last thing before I go, though. I want to thank Alexa and Alexa (nice coincidence) for their very kind help on the Simple Scrapbooks front. I honestly had no idea how very loved and treasured these magazines are. So, thank you! It's  much appreciated.

No, wait: there was one other thing: I'm thinking of skipping a December Pass The Book because we all have plenty going on right now. It will be back in January - something nice for the New Year. How does that sound?

Come December....it really is very hard to think about anything other than Christmas.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who picks the rogue trolleys!!!!

Let's face facts. December is about Christmas. Planning for it, preparing for it, creating it, making it happen. How could you possibly think of anything else?

LOL at the skirt!! that something my mum (and my sisters) would say and i would then have to continue to bring it out each year!

Looking forward to your christmas stories xx

Oh yes, it IS all about Christmas right now. How can you help it? ;o)

Your skirt is like the purse I use every year...I should really post a photo of it. It's a red Christmas bag with white feather boa around the top. Carrie HATES it - thinks it is "hideous" but I love it.

This post put such a smile on my face :) I always love your way with words! Very glad to see that you have Christmas spirit in abundance...after all, it does only come once a year! Love the sound of the skirt...I'm starting to wish that I had some dedicated outfits for this time of year!

What a great post! Isn't it amazing that everything seems to point back to Christmas this time of year, even things likes skirts and grocery shopping. I am so enjoying the season this year! Looking forward to Sunday's Christmas Club stories.

OK We will let you off doing pass the book this month because let's be honest, we all have enough going on in the next few weeks and it will be good to have something to look forward to once the madness is over. Plus it gives me more time to discover the perfect bribery gift for Horsey. A fur lined stetson for the winter maybe???
Love the trolley story, I feel sure you would have noticed if it started off with only 3 wheels, but then again .....
My son once thought it would be fun to lay on the floor under my trolley, grab hold of the underneath and be wheeled round Sainsburys like it. It's no wonder I have an odd reputation in the shops round here!

Yes, I agree that Pass the Book should take a little break; then it'll be even more fun when you re-start it in January (when we're all feeling that post-Christmas, yukky January weather low and need cheering up!). Do you buy all the books, btw? Will you bet them back in the end? Do you want others to take a turn at providing a book (of your or their choice)?

As for Christmas-filled blog posts - yes, please! You tell a great story and those little hints were very tantalising...please tell us more!

I quite like that you have been reasonably Christmassy, apart from a few organised things for the kids we have been extremely low key this year!

Hello, fellow elf! Naturally you have a green skirt, I'd expect nothing else...

In the interests of catching up I don't have time to comment on every post, but I've thoroughly enjoyed reading them, and admiring your gorgeous layouts (JYC and otherwise). Did you rescue the mincemeat? I always make my own, with my Christmas CD on in the background - but that's a Christmas story.... xx

Super post Sian - love the trolly story and your Christmas skirt sounds perfect. If you can't get all Christmassy this time of year then when can you?

Oh no! I hope your trolley didn't cause you too much trouble! I like how today's post has snippets of stories :)

You really do have a gift - your writing is so good.I'm loving the Hipstamatic photo, when I first got it, I thought I'd done something wrong - I didn't realise how many great things you could do and what good effects there are.
