New Looks

Today I've got a favour to ask. From High In The Sky has got a completely new look! If  you are viewing this through your Google Reader, please, would you click through and let me know what you think? I'd love to know. Change is good; change is fun. But it can be a bit scary. I think I'm still waiting for the dust to settle..

While you're here, in honour of New Look Day I've found some different ways for you to give your photos a change of style:

funphotobox.com is the one to use if you've always wanted to see your other half look a bit more like Johnny Depp (and while you are there, you can see yourself in a whole new light too).

funny.pho.to has some nice montage effects, including a pretty heart

and

befunky.com has a staggering array of effects to get lost in. My favourite so far is "stencil" - give it a go and you too can Banksy yourself

So: New Look Day. Does it work for you?

Sian....I love your new look.... the header is just brilliant.... I'd quite like a new look myself....if only I knew how to do it....am always terrified of deleting the whole blog if I try anything new!!!!
Am definately going to pop off and look at those sites as well.

Because I have you on Reader I don't know what it was like before but I love the muted sage colour and the amazing header

Hi Sian, I love the new header, the pic of your house is awesome. The only thing I'd say about the new look is that it's a bit monochrome, I always think of you as quite a colourful person and colours are one of the things that draw me into a blog. The new look is a bit pale for me, but if it works for you, go for it! x

Sian,
I don't mind change as long as I can still tell which of my favorite blogs are at a glance. Yours has such a distinctive name that it's no trouble spotting it right away.
If I can be honest, I love everything about the new look, except the "tape strips" graphic. To me, they detract from the overall look. Maybe some brads or picture turns would look cleaner than the tape graphic. Or eliminate them all together. Or you could just ignore me!

I love, love, love it! Its great, I love the little quote at the bottom too.

Lovely, Sian! Elegant in its colourway, quirky in its triad of brown tape, and slightly grungy in its frames - what more can a reader ask for? If I open a blog and go "Ahhh!", I'll be back!

Oh, dear. I seem to be the only one who preferred your original look ...

Decisions, decisions! I'm torn because I loved the look of the previous one, but I think you've chosen another great one to replace it.
Change is good for us all though so after careful consideration .... my vote goes to this one.

I love the new header. But The type (especially anything that is a link) is truly to light to be legible on my screen. I've never had that problem before, so I'd say maybe a slightly more saturated color for those?

I like your new look, think it suits you :)The sketchy picture of high in the sky is great. No problems viewing anything either.

hey there... I think I also actually preferred it before. Having said that, I do like the monochromatic tones and I think I might just be a little prejudiced by my preference of paper over digi scrap... x x x

Hi Sian, I really like the new header especially the image of the Tall House. I like the two columns the font and daily quotation, but, in common with Jennifer, I think there is a lack of colour. I always associate you, your scrap-booking and photos with bright, sparkling colours.
That's just my tuppeny-worth. Whatever the makeover, I will always read your Blog because I love your writing style.

I really like the new look,I love the house.-For what it's worth, I do tend to agree that the background is maybe a tad pale-if it was maybe a shade darker?- but whatever, I will always come and visit,'cos I love it :-)

I'm listening! I've changed some of the text colour to a bright green, how about that? Now lets see hoe it settles in..

Pretty.

Hi Siân
It looks good: I like the typewriter font, the header and the footer and the grungy frames. I missed out any intermediate steps so no idea what text you had before, but not overly keen on the lime green as it's modern & funky whereas the other bits are (no, not old and boring LOL) grungy and serene. I find the background very pale too - it does seem slightly washed out. Have fun tweaking until YOU are happy with it!

Must be something in the air, this is the third blog makeover I've seen today, aside from my own!!!

I'm loving it...but am going to be awkward & say that I find that bright green a bit 'uncomfortable' to read on the white background...does that make sense? The header is gorgeous & I especially like the photo. I think the background colour is very classy! But you know I'll come visit whatever you do to the place!!!

:o) Ask 50 people and get 50 answers, eh? I like the new look - love the typewriter font, and I really LOVE the masking tape strips. It's fun to change it up once in a while...I've been mulling around a new header design myself.

Well done, Sian! xo

i really like it hun ... fab work xxxx

Hum, hum.... I love the new header - especially the High House! Agree with Rinda about the tape though - it kind-of takes something away from the rest, rather than enhancing it.
The quote is lovely too.

However, I agree with some of the others about colour - or lack of it - and readability. The overall effect is rather soft (on my laptop screen anyway, prob. ok on the main pc, but I normally use the laptop). I find the writing a bit of a strain after a while, as there's not much contrast with the background - maybe a bit darker, with some colour in the headings?

The overall setup is smart though and I really love the title box at the top!

LOVE the new look! I particularly like your header - so original (and the colours are so calm and tranquil!). The links look awesome too - thank you for sharing! Random question - have you got your September kit from SC yet?

humel said...

I loved the old look, but I love this too - I like the colours, and the house pic is fab! The typewriter font is perfect, too xx

Ooh, I likey! Did you draw your house? If so clever you.

Oh I just love it! I know you liked the white clean background so can see why you were drawn to this and it works so well. Love everything about it, especially the banner including the masking strips. Just had to scroll to the bottom to see the quote that was mentioned. Love it.

Been getting itchy feet with my own blog again lately - almost deleted the whole thing the other day in a fit of huffiness. (I think I ramble to much!) Can't decide if I want 3 columns again but I love my books down the side... Never happy!

I think it has come together beautifully Sian :-) On the screen I'm viewing - which isn't my regular one - the colours are lovely and the type and links are just fine.
I think the header and the colours represent you very well - but I'm partial to this colour scheme as well! I actually think a more neutral pallette for the blog is a good idea because your scrap pages and crafty projects will popp from the screen.
I also really like the quote at the bottom of the screen/template, perhaps I may have missed it in a regular read though, I tend to read the post - especially of my regulars, comment and then move on.
How do you feel about the changes? I hope we haven't added to any confusion ;-)

Blog looks great! Very pretty!

Much better with olive green rather than lime - totally grungy and serene now - very laid back!

Now as soon as I clicked into your blog this morning, I said out loud (its ok, no one is here to think I'm mad) ..oohhhh I like, I like. So yup, this has got my vote. I do love the header very much! It's you (and I mean that in a good way LOL) I also, really like the font, very clear and enjoyable to read. Colours ... yup, again got my vote. All of this is not to say I didn't love the look of your old blog - but I'm a big fan of "change is a good thing"

A fab new look! love it! :)

my first thought was "the colours suit your hair"... I love the quote down the bottom, and while the type is a little more rounded than I like, I think it's perfectly you, and will still check out your gentle wisdom.

If only I was brave enough to change my header fonts, and had actually got around to adding the signature banner I made months ago!

Love the new look - was a surprise when I arrived, but I think it is really nice and clean looking. Love your layout too :)
