Learn Something New Every Day 18-23

It's hard to believe that we are moving into the last few days of this project. Until you step outside and feel the chill in the air and realise that September really is drawing to a close. But then that means we are a bit closer again to Journal Your Christmas, and that has to be a good thing!

I have six more of my little cards for you today:

On the 18th September I pulled last year's raincoat out of the cupboard and learned that buying a coat you love (even if it costs more than you want to think about) is never a waste if it looks like new the second time around. On the 19th September I got back to basics and learned that checking a recipe, even if you are sure you are right, can be a useful, enlightening thing to do.

My 20th and 21st September days fit together nicely. As I unveiled my new blog look, I learned that the way I see my style and the way it is seen by other people isn't always the same thing. That was interesting. It made me think about the gap between internet perceptions and real life, and how to narrow that divide. The only way to do it, I guess, is to continue to try to write in my own voice and to create in my own way. With no regrets.

On 22nd I learned..no, alright then, I confirmed what I already knew. September has always been my month for "new". It always makes me feel like ringing in the new year and starting over and I love it. On 23rd September I was on the lookout for something I shouldn't forget. How about: not putting lack of energy down to impending old age, but getting your iron levels checked instead. Works for me.

More gorgeous layering - I love how there is a consistency throughout, yet each page is a standalone stunner!
Don't worry about other people's opinions on your new blog look (you did ask though LOL!) - as long as you like looking at it, that's the important bit; other people don't come here to admire the colours or look at the header - they come to enjoy the stories and be inspired by the creativity!

Glad it's not the vicissitudes of old age creeping up on you :). Pity those of us for whom checking our iron levels makes not a blind bit of difference! Speaking in your own voice sounds authentic and good-to-go: that's just why we love to come here. xx

I need a new raincoat. What colour is yours? I want a nice bright red or turquoise one!

Glad your tiredness was down to iron levels and not about getting older. Enjoy the energy boost when your levels get back to normal! xx

Yes, I agree about your "New Look Blog" - it is your blog and your choices are what matter most! I like this new look - did you make the text a tiny bit darker, as I can read it more easily now - or is it just the light and my laptop screen being at a different angle?! The High-in-the-Sky house is still my v. favourite bit. It's such a classic looking house (is it actually your house, or just a similar style?)

Love the LSNED pages - your little album will be beautiful!

I hope that iron supplements help you to feel a bit more bright & breezy - especially with the drear weather and darker evenings coming along soon.

I blame lack of energy on the weather and the days becoming shorter! My mood is definitely affected by the weather. Today is dark and dreary with drizzle most of the day. Consequently, I've spent all afternoon watching tv with my 'The Daughter' and knitting some more of the blanket I am making for my great-niece. It's over 20" long now, so keeps me nice and warm while I knit!

Another great set of lessons . . . and oh, my, do I need to start thinking about my Christmas Journal???? It's one of my favorite projects, but the list ahead of it is long.

I smiled and agree'd with everything you've written ... couldn't agree more about the raincoat :) .. I've had mine for must be 5 years now - and I still get people come up and ask me where I got it from - always buy something you just love!

Great pages too - maybe next year I'll join in. But same as you - can't wait to start the JYC

Yes! Continue to write in your own voice and in your own wonderful style, Sian. That's what keeps me coming back, regardless of what your blog design looks like! xo

I agree with JimJams & Lizzie...your blog is yours & you are the only one who can decide if it reflects you!! I love how it looks!!

I also love how your LSNED pages have such a uniform look...mine is much more of a hotch potch! But that's why I love Shimelle's classes...everyones can look so different...not for me a class where everyone ends up with an identical looking project!!!

Enjoy that raincoat...looks like we're all going to need one this week!!!!

Your LSNED pages are always interesting and a little different (in a good way) They are all decorated so beautifully, with a different style to each one.

Hey Sian - feeling like I'm late here, but I'll echo the sentiment that your LSNED pages are fab! Love all the layering. And writing in your own voice is the only way to go. That's why we love you!
