Displaying The Doilies

I'm in a mood for finishing up projects at the minute. Better make the most of it while it lasts, I thought, and set out for Ikea where I found exactly the right little square box frame to display my embellished doilies:

I only had eight doilies to start with so I added in a little centre square with my name and the year and framed it up ( this picture shows it before the glass went on ) and I think it's going to turn out to be my favourite project of the year.

Lots of you have said you would be interested in a "Pass The Book" chain like the one featured on Silver Pebble. Let's do it! I will be taking a blogging break of about a week or so shortly and as soon as I'm back we'll make a start. But I need some suggestions: what sort of book would you be interested in?  A craft book? A cookery book? (Or would they be too hard to pass on!)  A classic? A book about writing, maybe? Please let me know what you think and we can give it a go. Now, where did I put that librarian's stamp? I know I have it here somewhere....

Love your shadowbox project - such prettiness. I should take a lesson from the fact that you are finishing up projects, but it's summer so I'm just playing!

I love that each doily is its own little world - I could stare at each one and get lost in it for hours!
Oh, any book is good, but I do like the idea of crafty books the best.

Wow, this is really nice! And I love IKEA!

I like to read a lot of different types but generally nothing too heavy - I tend to like humor/light when I read.

I'm so glad that after all your hard work you will be able to admire your creations framed as they derserve to be. It's a great way to display them, I've been looking for similar frames but sadly I don't live close to an Ikea.

Your doilies are really great looking, a friend turned me onto your blog because I did the doilies also (I'm in the midst of them, actually). I love your shadow box - bless Ikea - eh?

Your doilies look fabulous in the shadow box...an amazing project...where will you be displaying it? Good old IKEA eh?!!

Wow,the doilies look amazing Sian, and what a stunning way to display them!

Bookwise I'd say any kind of book, as long as it's beautiful. A classic with a nice cover or illustrations, a craft book with gorgeous projects, or a cooking book with photos that make me drool. Books should be good to look at as well as to read I think!

Beautiful doilies, presented beautifully. That is such a lovely project.
The book idea sounds fun, I'm not sure I could part with any of my favourite reference type books but I'm up for going with fiction!

Very, very good indeed Sian :-) The detail and the layering is just superb and it is going to look lovely on the wall or even a shelf too - please photograph where it ends up so we can see it in context .... if you like that is!

I'm happy to read anything too, but I have to admit I was not sure what you were talking about - I'll check the link so that I'm no longer in the dark!

Hi Sian, I just stumbled upon your doilies almost two years after you finished them! They look wonderful - so bright and cherry. That was such a great tutorial and I still miss all the fun I had making my own. Those doilies remain my most favourite project and almost a year later I stop in my hallway on a regular basis to admire mine!
