I was looking at my Killer layout again, and enjoying its vintagey feel when into my head popped an image of my Grandma in a pre-war style dress and necklace. I wanted to write about it and I wanted to create another period look. But quickly. Without any fuss. So I decided, for fun, to take the same basic sketch and play it again. Same design, same feel. different look. I've added more of the lovely paper girls cut from Cosmo Cricket's Material Girl and another Studio Calico wood veneer shape; and yet it still looks different. When you aren't thinking so much about the design, you get to spend more time thinking about the theme of your page and the feel you want to give it. And because you are thinking about the theme, you are thinking, really thinking, about the story you are trying to tell. Now that's scrapbooking.

Fantastic layout Sian, and I love the peek into how you created it. Off to compare it to the other one.

lovely page Sian. I find myself using the same shapes / structure to my pages. Sometimes I think I should try to change and sometimes I'm quite happy with, like you say, just getting the story out in a decorative,-yet-quick way.
My Nana was known for always liking to have her pearls and her gloves when she went somewhere special.
:)
Sian, this is gorgeous! :-)
I find that if a layout takes shape in my head and just *has* to come out, it's usually taken form too - so I have a rough idea of how I'll be placing the elements, etc - and then when I actually make it, it doesn't turn out anything like the mental image lol....
LOVE this, Sian! Great idea to take a layout you like and re-do it. I simply love the string of pearls you put on one of the cut-outs. Very clever!
Absolutely gorgeous LO What lovely memories you hold
Fabulous page, Sian, and the best use of the Material Girl paper I've seen anywhere.
A wonderful vintage page,Sian.... love the way you've used the pearls.I do find that sometimes doing one page, brings other memories to the fore....and starts you on another page.I like the idea of sometimes using the same basic format.
Another really beautiful page, Sian and I love your use of the pearls and the other little details.
I love it! The pearls are fantastic! :)
I. LOVE. THIS!!!!!! It's absolutely perfect.
Oh! Now this is definitely scrapping. It's a beautiful page with lots and lots of wonderful detail. Yum!
They certainly do look very different. I love the use of the material girl paper and the way you very bravely cut the girls out. It shows them off beautifully though.
Such a lovely page! I still have my grandma's pearls, and remember her wearing them too ...
I love the colours annd the vintage feel of both these layouts, they look glam yet approachable at the same time. Gorgeous!
Just Gorgeous! Don't you just love it when an idea pops right up out of nowhere?!!!
Beautiful page! Love the embellies!
i am always 'scraplifting' myself too, it's the best! :)
It is always about the story for me and that is why I keep my pages pretty simple - ok, very simple. I repeat designs all of the time because I always feel as though I'm in a hurry to get the story down before I forget the details and the nuances of how things were said.
Beautiful page Sian :-)
That's fabby Sian! They do look different, but the vintage look ties them both together. Great work!
Oh Sian, I just love this page. Totally gorgeous - especially the little set of pearls on the cut out.
Another stunning page. I just love it - those pearls just bring the page and story to life
Fab page - love the idea of taking something that 'worked' - give it a little shake up and make it the same, but different!
Beautiful layout! I think if something works for you, why not do it again?! There's so much to look at, very cool.
