September Wrapped Up..

..and with a bow on top. I have put together my complete Learn Something New Every Day project and here it is:

It started out as this box

and now each day has a little card of journalling slipped inside an envelope.

It's been a great class and I'll miss those prompts arriving in my inbox every morning. The big thing it has taught me, I think, is to be more mindful, more alert to the little things that make up a whole day. Learning doesn't have to be big. Little can be perfectly fine.

Most of my stories are only little, after all. Lately I've had a few of you ask me if I'm ever tempted to add or embroider to make a better tale. The answer is a definite No! Every conversation is a true one.
Every happening has happened. In this house I don't need to put words in anyone else's mouth. They all have more than enough of their own. But what I do do, is write things down as soon as I can I have a very dangerous notebook and I use it a lot. On Monday, for example, I wrote " I was doing a bit of vacuuming the other day when I spotted a gin bottle under the desk in the dining room" (because I just had) and then I added "This came as a bit of surprise" (because it did). Now, this might become part of a story about our Autumn hedgerow harvest, or it might never appear again. I don't know yet. I'm going to do a bit more listening every day before I decide. Then you'll be the first to know. Hey, Listening Every Day: do you think there's a class in that?

Today I'm Loving..a new cookery blog I found. It was the name which drew me in.  A Sofa In The Kitchen. Love it.

Sian! I love how your final project turned out. Such a great idea to turn a simple packaging into a work of art. Leave it to you!

And I love that your stories are to the point and simple. This is a great keepsake...a real treasure...

You finished up a month-long project perfectly on time. I'm so jealous. It looks really nice, and I'm glad you had the chance to be a little more observant - it's not like you already weren't. Good for you. What's up tomorrow?

Beautiful! I love the mystery of it. I've got one blank card left for today and then I'll be all done.

Such a pretty box and idea! I love the thought of all those individual pages stacking up and their little journalling notes... I admire your 'dangerous notebook' - a great title for a blog or a series of something on your blog!

What a lovely idea, very effective and I love your sentiments about learning - lessons really don't have to be big things - great post Sian x

Love the box you made for the project, makes an interesting change from albums. I'm also interested in this gin bottle....was you so sloshed that you couldn't remember leaving it there? At what time of day was this? And was it empty? Did you see any pink elephants?

This looks so intriguing and now I must go back and read about this project from its inception to this conclusion. Which sounds like fun because I enjoy your posts!

I'm intrigued about the gin bottle was it empty? :) I love how your project turned out it looks great in the box and you have the satisfaction of having recycled something or is that 'upcycled' Whatever it is, it's lovely.

The class completed looks all pretty in that bow. What a great idea to store it like that.
I agree with what you say about writing stuff down, we often forget the little things. I decided I am doing a 31 days of October mini album to document our lives and hopefully get me journaling daily again. I am really looking forward to it.

I love how you used the card box - great job completing the class. I think the Listening Every Day topic would make a great mini-album project.

Such a great finished project! I so wish I had kept a notebook like yours when I had kids in the house. I thought I would remember much more than I do!

I love your album,Sian...and will miss seeing your pages....and I love the idea of 'listening everyday'.

Just as someone else has written, I like your idea of the box rather than an album, you're more likely to sit and pick that up again. As for your idea of listening ... well, I for one, would be lost without you listening to me. So always a BIG thank you for that. x

Your box looks so beautiful. I'm already trying to decide how to do JYC this year. At the moment I'm fairly sure i'm going to use 6x4 cards ina divided page pratector to fish off my Document 2010, but now I have another idea to choose from - a 'card box', if you don't mind, that is.

I love how your LSNED project turned out..I'm still a way behind, but I'll get there!! I'm hoping to even finish JYC this year too!!

Love the idea of a class called 'Listening Every Day'!! & thanks for the link to that cookery blog...!

Can't wait to find out where that gin bottle came from...you didn't say if it was empty or ful!!!

Oh my, the project is stunning - I *love* how it's come together! Something to treasure, for sure :-)

And I so have to get myself a dangerous notebook - I shall make it immediately. I've enjoyed having a little notebook with me at all times through LSNED and I've noted down a lot of details I'd have forgotten otherwise. I don't think that notebook was dangerous enough though ;-)

I'm now wondering what I'd find if I did actually vacuum my house... xx

Sorry it's been a while :)

Your project is just gorgeous Sian. I couldn't picture how it would turn out when you showed us the orginal box at the beginning of the project, but it's be-ooo-tiful!!!
